Thank you for the treat, - made my day! The editnotice was not coined by me, but worth remembering. I dropped it when SBHB died in 2018 (did I point you at his 10 rules?), because more than 3 were too much of a good thing, and that one the most obvious (I thought). I was reminded of it because of that AN thread about LouisAlain whom we lost, I'm afraid (after 6,000 translated articles). I believe that Wikipedia would be better without that whole thread, as it would have been better without the arbcase of RexxS, when I said it wouldn't improve kindness among editors, nor a single article. Well - and not without some bitter irony - this AN thread lead to improving one article, in collaboration even. I'll take it to DYK. - Opera yesterday was fine, Cimarosa's L'Italiana in Londra, five splendid singers without articles, and the conductor with a stub, although he conducted at the ROH, - always work ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:29, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

today: see yourself, read about a hymn praying to not be on earth in vain, about a comics artist whose characters have character (another collaboration of the "perennial gang", broken by one of us banned), and in memory of the last prima donna assoluta, Edita Gruberová. I had to go to two grave sites last week, one who died now, one who died 10 years ago, so standing upright and in black seems appropriate. Halloween isn't something we celebrate much in Germany, - beginning in 2010, I stubbornly have a DYK related to Reformation Day among the spooky ones. Reformation features prominently on my user page, and if you follow the link you arrive at a discussion with a great editor who made his last edit (I know of) on Halloween. Well I went ahead and fixed the field by restoring the English language parameter MB but it looks like the whole thing should be reverted to your last edit since the dual nationality isn't sourced as far as I can tell. CabriniGreenChicago information on any and all of the articles on wikipedia has to be supported by reliable sources. This is even more important on BLP's. If what was there in the past is not supported by refs it can (and should be) removed no matter how long it has been there. In future please make your posts on the talk page for the article. The Picture of Dorian Gray

As my edit summary states there are already links to wikisource in the EL section of the articles. Redundant ELs don't do much for the reader. Placing a link to one external source in the infobox also has WP:POV problems, Why only that link rather than any of several others? Film infoboxes used to have links to several ELs including IMDb. They were removed through consensus for several reasons including the one I mention, If the wikiproject for books has come to a consensus on this item in the infobox. If they have fine but if the haven't it should be discussed on their project talk page. MarnetteD|Talk 02:27, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

I believe that the wikiproject did arrive at a consensus to link to wikisource because that is a part of the template which is locked. I’m going to revert your edit because I believe that the reversal was in error. However, if you feel strongly about this issue, I can always create a community discussion. I don't have a strong opinion on this, but I will note that, in at least one case (official websites), it's very common to have an EL duplicated in the infobox and the "External links" section. e.g. the featured article J. K. Rowling. If your position is that wikisource links should categorically never go in infoboxes, then I think you should start a discussion to seek consensus to have the parameter removed from the template. BTW, there's a somewhat related discussion going on here about automatically populating the link via wikidata. Colin M (talk) 20:05, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Dead links

FYI, dead links should be noted properly within the <ref> tags in the first instance, not removed entirely. Removing it makes rescue impossible. See WP:DEADREF. Also at least one of the refs you removed was not a dead link at all. Seany91 (talk) 09:01, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

That's not how the dead link template works. If you don't repair the supposed dead link using Wayback Machine or something, you need to keep the <ref> tags with the actual link in place, then add the dead link template after. Without it, no one would know which was the initial dead link to fix. Anyway, you really should read WP:DEADREF in detail because it says more clearly than what I can here. @Seany91: No, the {{dead link}} doesn't go after the <ref>...</ref> tags - it goes inside. Per Template:Dead link#Usage, para. 4: Append this template directly after the link (after the link code's terminating ] if you are using wikitext), or, if you are using a {{cite xxx}} template, directly after the {{cite xxx}} transclusion (not inside it), but inside the reference, if any, i.e. before the </ref>. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:36, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
