Speedy deletion
[edit]Speedy deletion
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add hangon
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Blair - Speak to me 07:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on The Oriel Wind Farm, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template hangon
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Vgranucci 07:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of The Laurence Town Centre
[edit]The Laurence Town Centre, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that The Laurence Town Centre satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Laurence Town Centre and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of The Laurence Town Centre during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Mayalld (talk) 13:56, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Mark! I noticed you have created this category, which was not approved by the stub sorting project. If this is an attempt by you to create a "working list" of possible Drogheda-stub articles, it needs to be moved to your userspace, perhaps as a sub-page (i.e. User:Markreidyhp/Drogheda stubs). As long as it's in category space it's fair game for deletion, even though I'm holding off on that for now. Cheers, Her Pegship (tis herself) 20:28, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- I won't nominate it for deletion, because I know how strongly you feel about it. But like I said, you should create your own sub-page for it, if you don't want anyone else to delete it. If you don't know how to do that, let me know. Cheers, Her Pegship (tis herself) 21:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Mark - I have nominated it for deletion. As Peg points out, the right way to do this would be to make a user subpage and simply list the articles there. Creating a category is not the way to go, especially since you've been previously told that in this case one wasn't a good option. Making "manually categorised" stub types (i.e., without a template) also causes extra problems for keeping track of stubs for general stub-sorters, and certainly makes and necessary changes to the categories much harder. Grutness...wha? 23:02, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Me again - I have created a sub-page for you at User:Markreidyhp/Drogheda stubs. The list will be safe from deletion as it's in your space. Hope this helps - Her Pegship (tis herself) 16:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Mark - you wrote: what do u mean? I cant categorize all articles relating to Drogheda that have a stub?. Not really, no. The suggestion of a category for Drogheda stubs was rejected when it you proposed it at WP:WSS/P. Youn can, however, list the stubs on a user subpage. Basically, Wikipedia has several different "namespaces" in which pages can be created. Articlespace for articles, categoryspace for categories, userspace for user pages, and so on. Just as people can't write articles on just anything they want to, so categoryspace and some of the other similar spaces are limited to what can be created - that's why there are pages like Wikipedia:Categories for deletion, Wikipedia:Templates for deletion, and Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. There's more leniency with userspace, though, and users frequently set up pages in userspace for personal projects or similar. It's a much better idea to keep track of stubs relating to Drogheda on a page like that - unless you get enough editors together interested in expanding Drogheda articles to create a WikiProject about the city. Even then, a lot of WikiProjects use a list for their artuicles rather than a stub category. Grutness...wha? 00:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. You wrote: It is not a stub attempt I'm just finding all the articles relating to drogheda that need a stub.I only ever propeseed a STUB not a category.
- I think you're getting a little confused by the terminology - looking at WP:STUB should help, but in a nutshell a stub is a short article. Since there is already a long article on Drogheda, there'd be no point in you proposing a stub on it. What you were proposing was a stub type - that is, either a category or template, or combination of the two, to sort stubs about a particular subject - and that is what was rejected when you proposed it. The stub category you created was basically the same thing that was previously rejected. There is no objection to you listing stubs relating to Drogheda on a user subpage, but there should not be a separate category for them. Grutness...wha? 00:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Another editor has added the prod
template to the article West Street Drogheda, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 06:59, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Not inapproproate use.
[edit]Wikipedia has to clear the sandbox for other people to use, not just for your own purposes. Unknown User (talk) 08:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmmm, yes, you do seem to have a point there. Sorry about that, my mistake. Unknown User (talk) 08:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also, at times, it is easier to create your own sandbox. You may call it User:Markreidyhp/Sandbox, to make testing easier for you, however, you have the responsibility to clear it yourself. Unknown User (talk) 08:28, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, so, in this case, take my advice above. Cheers, Unknown User (talk) 08:29, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Custom signature
[edit]It is simple, really. Take a look at this:
<span style="color:black; font-family:'papyrus';">Zachary</span><span style="color:crimson; font-family:'papyrus';">crimsonwolf</span>
If you feel like just copying the format and inserting your username in it, go ahead. However, I suggest that you toy around with the colours and fonts until you've found the ones that suit you. To do so, just replace a font/colour with the one of your choice. For example:
<span style="color:black; font-family:'papyrus';">Zachary</span> looks like this:
If you replace User:Zachary crimsonwolf with User:Markreidyhp, like this:
<span style="color:black; font-family:'papyrus';">Markreidyhp</span>
- The result will be:
When you change the font:
- <span style="color:black; font-family:'comic sans ms';">Markreidyhp</span>
The results are:
Alternatively, you can try it with other fonts, just find one you like. I don't know much about fonts, so you might want to get help in the WP:CP. Ask them which fonts Wikipedia can support.
Now, if you like green, try putting it in:
- <span style="color:green; font-family:'comic sans ms';">Markreidyhp</span> and you'll get:
Again, just toy with various colours like midnightblue, lavender, goldenrod, etc, etc.
I hope it helps! Cheers, Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:57, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Navbar
[edit]User:Tiddly Tom/navbar - I can do make one if you like, just tell me all your sub-pages you want listed. Tiddly-Tom 16:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Scotch hall
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Scotch hall, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add db-author
to the top of Scotch hall. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

- I guess one's enough, esp. as non-IRCer users in the North Atlantic Archipelago don't tend to hand out barnstars so much. I was just thinking of other wikiprojects where barnstars of different degree are handed out, such as for Poland. Can I see what your barnstar looks like? Right on
[edit]Really? Your comments cheered me up a bit =) I dislike the classist, traditionalist, isolationist, imperialist leanings of the English, compared to other Europeans. I think that the choices Ireland has taken in things like the EU is a good model for England to follow, particularly for issues that I am concerned with. It is a shame that Ireland is still held up by the UK in some things, like the Schengen Agreement. RossEnglish 20:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Deletion of comments from Talk pages
[edit]It's very bad form, to delete other people's comments from talkpage, as you did on the Wikiproject Ireland Talkpage, just because you don't like the comment. Please refraine from it in the future. Thanks --Mdebets (talk) 20:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- You were the one who deleted it. I added my comment here at 15:02 1. It was still here in this revision at 17:19 2, but it was gone at 19:09 3. There were no changes between 17:19 and 19:09. And you were the editor of the 19:09 change, so you did it.
