Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Marilyn Fowles. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page User:Marilyn Fowles/Music Man Project, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:21, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks and duly noted! I have no conflict of interest and will keep writing :-) Marilyn Fowles (talk) 18:32, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @Theroadislong
- I wonder if you could kindly spare a few moments to check the latest page Draft:Music Man Project and advise if the content is starting to address the following concern: "This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. (January 2024)".
- Many thanks for all your help - I would not have even got this far without you! Marilyn Fowles (talk) 15:33, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:Music Man Project has a new comment
[edit]January 2024
[edit] When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Draft:Music Man Project, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:
- If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
- If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Theroadislong (talk) 08:48, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @Theroadislong Thank you so much for your help. I understand and will thoroughly review the links, especially the YouTube ones. Much appreciated. Have a great day. Marilyn Fowles (talk) 13:28, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
