From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to Wikipedia. I see you have taken an interest in the presentation of individuals' nations, particularly footballers. You may be interested to know that from an encyclopaedic and constructive angle, a greater number of editors and readers appreciate historical accuracy, which is why these now defunct countries (eg. Yugoslavia, USSR etc.) are mentioned in some form. To date, all of your edits have been reverted; although I personally ammended most, there were a few which were reverted by other editors before I discovered them. By all means be constructive, and if you are familiar with information regarding these Croatian footballers which is lacking, be bold and edit freely. But for the meantime, please observe the practice of historical accuracy and abstain from removing old national names. Alter them if you will by ammending the order or the emphasis; present them in such a way that you are happy, but please do not delete the old national names. If you encounter problems of any kind, I will be pleased to help you. Best wishes. Evlekis (talk) 22:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Thomasz Wylenzek. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Category:Italian-Slovenians‎, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Moving pages while CFD is ongoing is inapproriate

[edit]

As long as there's an ongoing discussion moving article into the proposed new category is not appropriate. Also, signing category pages the way you have[1][2][3][4][5] is also not something that should be done. Do you think you could clean up these edits? __meco (talk) 13:00, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Ziggy Rozalski

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ziggy Rozalski requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Theseeker4 (talk) 16:41, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Slovenians of Bosnian descent, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Slovenians of Bosnian descent is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Slovenians of Bosnian descent, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 13:20, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have undone your edit to Damien Plessis stating that he's a Reunion footballer, as there is no sourced mention of that in the article. If you have a source, please provide it, and add some prose to the article rather than just adding another category. Thanks.

Hi, sorry, but i've undone it again. Wikipedia isn't a reliable source, especially when the claim, in this case on fr.wikipedia is unsourced. Can you find a source on a club website or interview (n French is fine) that says where his ancestry is. --GedUK  10:22, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Ginczek

[edit]

The newspaper article says, his grandparents were born in Silesia, it says nothing about a Polish background. Daniel Ginczek was born in 1991, let's assume his grandparents were older than 45 years at that time → they were born prior to 1945. Millions of Germans were born in Silesia prior to 1945, to call them or their grandchildren "of Polish descent" is absurd. Please find a ref for your claim or stop it. 84.139.251.125 (talk) 19:22, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

General Sanctions

[edit]

The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose, at their own discretion, sanctions on any editor working on pages broadly related to Eastern Europe if the editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. The committee's full decision can be read at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Digwuren#Final decision. Stifle (talk) 10:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Polish footballers

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you've created a number of articles about Polish footballers. In the future, please consider adding {{WikiProject Poland}} to such articles' Talk pages. If you'd like, you can also "assess" the article's class (usually stub or start) and importance (usually low). Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:09, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Mickiewicz

[edit]

Hi, i just wanted to know how the name Adam Mickiewicz is pronounced. yes, a listen link is there at the article; but i am getting a feeling it isn't accurate. Moreover, I do not know to read the phonetic language. My doubt appeared because i have heard a lot of people pronouncing as Adam Meikkevski especially in my part of the world. So, i was thinking since you are a native speaker of Polish whether you could verify this. Thank You Arjuncodename024 11:33, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your reference in Jan Chachot article

[edit]

I have removed your reference, Tygodnik ilustrowany Wilno 1859 r., Słownik Geogr., Przewodnik; Szlakiem Adama Mickiewicza po Nowogródczyźnie, Wilnie i Kownie -T. Krzywicki, because it does not state that Chachot is Polish.

This is where I found out:
http://www.genealogia.okiem.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=787
I have read over this article several times and I didn't find the fact that you were trying to prove. Just because this is a Polish encyclopedia (or whatever) it doesn't make Jan Chachot a Pole. Ales Hurko (talk) 20:27, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

[edit]

Pozdrawiam. --ArkadiuszEurope (talk) 22:49, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Alan Stulin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable footballer who is yet to play a match in a fully-professional competition

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. J Mo 101 (talk) 15:05, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns about discrimination and hatred

[edit]
For your information Wikipedia is not a place for nationalism, hatred and discrimination of ethnic groups. I know that you feel very angry towards Belarusians and because of that you are ready to remove every info related to Belarusians and thus presenting inadequate material.
These are your edits I am concerned about:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Ogi%C5%84ski_family&diff=prev&oldid=392256799

If it happens again, this will go into the administration. You have to remember that this is a neutral encyclopedia, not Wikipedia of Poland. You have been warned.

Daniel Ginczek (again)

[edit]

Your edit summary here "he has dual polish-german nationality" directly contradicts the statement of the man in question in a source linked to this article (this one). Regardless of what transfermarkt may or may not say, the words of the subject of an article as to what passports he does and does not have are a far more reliable source. --Varsovian (talk) 13:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not continue to remove sourced information regarding the subject's refusal to play for a national team other than the German one and the facts that he does not have a passport other than German and does not speak a language other than German. In addition to that, and your constant insertion of disputed facts and removal of sourced info giving the other side of that disputed facts, you are also breaking WP:BIO. If you continue to removed sourced information and push a nationalist point of view, I will regrettably be forced to request that the sanctions which you have been notified of are enforced. Varsovian (talk) 17:20, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Varsovian, you are currently banned from Eastern European topics. As such you have no business commenting here about a EE related article, particularly one on which you edited war extensively before.

Korzym w Cracovii.--Oleola (talk) 18:08, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Używanie takiej wersji zalecił mi GiantSnowman, więc dlatego takiego używam. Po co robić listę? Można np. na 90minut zobaczyć archiwalne sezony i pisać o brakujących zawodnikach. TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 12:27, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 17:50, 24 March 2011 (UTC) A i jeszcze jedno. Skąd wiesz, że pełne imię i nazwisko Iwana to Andrzej Iwan? Może ma jakieś drugie imię? TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 17:53, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 18:24, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A potem ewentualnie inne. TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 17:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Skoro nie masz źródła do pełnego imienia i nazwiska to dlaczego je dodajesz? Sporo osób ma drugie imiona, jeśli chodzi o to hasło to proponuję Lewandowskiego, potem Błaszczykowskiego i Piszczka - trzech najbardziej znanych polskich piłkarzy :P Można też robić wszystkie na raz po trochu. Proponuję stworzyć dla każdego oddzielny brudnopis, pisać w nim po angielsku a po polsku w komentarzach http ( <!-- Gra w Borussi --> He plays for Borussia) TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 19:08, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Lewandowski

[edit]

TheBiggestFootballFan (talk) 18:29, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Monitor. WikiProject Poland Newsletter: Issue 1 (April 2011)

[edit]
WikiProject Poland Newsletter • April 2011
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to our first issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; in this year alone about 40 threads have been started on our discussion page, and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised.

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a [member link] at WikiProject Poland. • Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Hi. When you recently edited Alan Stulin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Defender (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members!

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

  • we have an active assessment department. As of now, our project has tagged almost 83,000 pages as Poland-related - that's an improvement of over 3,000 new pages since the last newsletter. Out of which 30 still need a quality assessment, and 2,000, importance assessment. We have done a lot to clear the backlog here (3 years ago those numbers were 1,500 and 20,000, respectively). Can you help assess a few pages?
    • assessing articles is as easy as filling in the class= and importance= parameters on the talk page in the {{WPPOLAND|class=|importance=}} template. See here for a how-to guide.
  • once an article has an assessment template, it will appear in our article alerts and news feed, which provides information on which Poland-related articles are considered for deletion, move, or are undergoing a Good or Featured review. Watchlisting that feed, in addition to watchlisting our project's main page, is a good way to make sure you stay up to date on most Poland-related discussions.
  • you can also see detailed deletion discussions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Poland (which is a good place to watchlist if you just want to stay up to date on possible deletions of Poland-related content)
  • we have also begun B-class quality reviews on our talk page, and if our activity increases, hopefully we will be able to institute our own A-class quality reviews. As of now, we have about 500 C-class articles in need of a B-class review. If you'd like to help with them, instructions for doing B-class reviews are to be found in point 10 of our assessment FAQ. In addition to this automated list, you are also encouraged to help review articles from our B-class reviews requested list found here.
  • also, those articles will be included in our cleanup listing, which allows us to see which top-importance articles are in need for attention, and so on. We have tens of thousands articles in need of cleanup there, so if you ever need something to do, just look at this gigantic list. (I am currently reviewing the articles tagged with notability, either proving them notable or nominating for deletion; there are still several dozens left if you want to help!).
  • did you know that newly created Poland-related articles are listed here. They need to be reviewed, often cleaned-up, occasionally nominated for deletion, and their creators may need to be welcomed and invited to our project if they show promise as new authors of Poland-related content.
  • we are maintaining a Portal:Poland
  • automated Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Popular pages lists the most popular Poland-related pages from the previous month(s)
  • Breaking news: we are looking for a Wikipedian in Residence for the New York City area. See Wikipedia:GLAM/Józef Piłsudski Institute of America for details.

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MfD nomination of Draft:Alain Ngamayama

[edit]

Draft:Alain Ngamayama, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Alain Ngamayama and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Alain Ngamayama during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 03:18, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on André Jordan Spitzman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 10:04, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
