A new contributor started an article on Lakewood Speedway on April 28. I saw great potential, so I greatly expanded the article and nominated it for DYK. Do you have an additional sources to expand it farther, especially a source to verify that it was used in the AWESOME movie Smokey and the Bandit? It would love to see the DYK hook changed to a fact about the movie. The should run on DYK in about 2 days. Royalbroil 14:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds great. Unfortunately, I am at a loss to think of a reference for Lakewood's appearance in Smokey and the Bandit. I checked a couple of my film books and three books I have on Atlanta and unearthed nothing. Best of luck, Majoreditor (talk) 13:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 05:54, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I have added a lot to this article based on your comments. Could you please take another look at it and let me know if there is anything else that needs refining?--Kumioko (talk) 22:09, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll take a look as soon as I can. Cheers, Majoreditor (talk) 22:12, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
To Tell the Truth GA reassessment
I have removed all the unreliable sources from the article. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 19:08, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Dear Majoreditor, Your comment on the FAC page of this article regarding the Nicene Creed quote has been addressed. If you have a moment, I would like to know what you think. Thanks. NancyHeise (talk) 04:14, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Rfb participation thanks
Hello, MajorEditor.
I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. I especially wanted to thank you for your detailed support rationale, and your willingness to look at my improvements in the areas where I heard the project's request for focus. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support. -- Avi (talk) 17:46, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
My RfA
Hi Majoreditor; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 21:49, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Over the Edge (1999) reassessment
Hi, this article's GA review is up for reassessment. You recently endorsed the fail. Since then, I have done a copyedit of the article and added a section about Owen Hart's death. When you have a chance, could you please look at it again and see if it's now up to GA quality? Thanks, GaryColemanFan (talk) 01:29, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. I attempted to translate the data from the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. Useight (talk) 04:26, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

RfA: Many thanks | ||
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 05:53, 18 May 2008 (UTC) |
My RfA
I understand your concerns. Is there any way I can persuade you otherwise?Xp54321 (Vandals Beware!!!,Contribs) 01:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm afraid there's little that will convince me at this time. I have reviewed your edit history and contributions and think you need some additional experience in admin-related project areas and some more experience in content-building. That will come with time. You're off to a solid start, please keep up the good work. Cheers, Majoreditor (talk) 01:45, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
my RfA - Ta!

Thanks for the positive feedback and vote of confidence in my RFA. I hope I won't disappoint, and will try hard not too! --Slp1 (talk) 21:46, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

- Done. Unfortunately, there are dozens of citation tags. The article should be de-listed. Majoreditor (talk) 02:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Likewise, could you please revisit the reassessment for Over the Edge (1999) (found here)? I believe we have addressed your concerns, but you were leaving for vacation and unable to respond. Thanks, GaryColemanFan (talk) 21:38, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Majoreditor (talk) 22:03, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

My RfA
Hello, Majoreditor, and thank you for your recent participation in my RfA, which was closed per WP:NOTNOW after reaching a vote tally of 5/15/2. While I am disappointed in the outcome, I understand that it - as well as the comments left by yourself and others - was in the best interests of Wikipedia at this time. I plan to take everything that was written to heart and improve myself here on Wikipedia with a goal of perhaps accepting a nomination again in the future, should someone choose to nominate me. As a way of gathering further feedback, I have created a page in my user space for other editors to leave comments about things that they might have observed during my RfA and to continue my "education process," as it may be considered. If you would like to contribute to that page, it may be found here. Again, thank you for participating and I appreciate your comments! --InDeBiz1 (talk) 17:39, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Image:Saint Samson the Hospitable.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:Saint Samson the Hospitable.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Saint Samson the Hospitable.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. BJTalk 11:52, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Feature Article Candidate Roman Catholic Church
- The nomination of the above article was archived by the Featured Articles Director, with the comment that the page had again grown too long. He has asked that all remaining objectors produce a list of their specific problems with the article in its current form. These will then be addressed by the article's editorial team before re-presentation for FA status.
- Can you therefore please post a complete list of any specific remaining objections you may have on the article's talk page at: Talk:Roman_Catholic_Church. If possible can we have this list in by the end of June, so that editors can begin to address them all in detail in July. To prevent the nomination again becoming over-long, we would ask that you raise ALL of your remaining concerns at this stage, making your comments as specific and comprehensive as possible. It would help if all your comments were gathered under your name in a single heading on the page. Thank you. Xandar (talk) 00:56, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm...
You've been around the block, done some article work, done some GREAT GAR work...
You interested in adminship? giggy (:O) 09:13, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I am flattered by your suggestion, Giggy. Thanks for considering me. However, I'm too bogged down with off-wiki commitments to be a productive admin. Perhaps next year I may be in a position to reconsider. I'll let you know when I feel that I'm ready. Cheers, Majoreditor (talk) 12:06, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
WP:HAU, Status, and you!
As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Majoreditor, it is with deep awareness of the responsibility conferred by your trust that I am honored to report that in part to your support, my request for adminship passed (87/14/6). I deeply value the trust you and the Wikipedia community have in me, and I will embark on a new segment of my Wikipedia career by putting my new tools to work to benefit the entire community.
