GOCE July drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors July 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 45 people who signed up this drive, 31 have copy-edited at least one article. Lfstevens continues to carry most of the weight, having edited 360 articles and over a quarter of a million words already. Thanks to all who have participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, will be available early in August here. Progress report: We are once again very close to achieving in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog. Only 35 such articles remain at press time. The total backlog currently sits at under 2400 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We are just two articles away from completing all requests made before July 2012 (both are in progress). Copy Edit of the Month: Starting in August, you'll be able to submit your best copy-editing work for palaver, praise, and prizes. See here for details. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. Category:Kangaroo Island - inclusion of the Pages
Hi Maias, Apart from both being part of South Australia, I cannot see any reason for inclusion of The Pages in Category:Kangaroo Island. When looking at a chart, KI is closer to the mainland than it is to the Pages while South Page (i.e the island with the navigation aid) is closer to the mainland (i.e. Porpoise Head) than it is to KI (closest point is Cape St Albans). By the way, I think it would be OK to add both Backstairs Passage and Investigator Strait to Category:Kangaroo Island. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 04:06, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Cowdy, thanks for the feedback. I agree with what you suggest. Cheers. Maias (talk) 04:22, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. I have reverted your change to this redirect. This has redirected to the city since 2008, and has hundreds of incoming links, as you can see here. From what I am seeing you have changed maybe one or two, leaving at least 500 pages misdirected. So, unless and until you are able to get a consensus that it should just redirect to "anchor" and there is some indication that there will be an effort made to correct all the incoming links I would ask that you leave it the way it is. Feel free to comment at Talk:Anchorage if you wish to clarify why you believe it should be redirected that way. Don't know if you were aware but we do have a dab page at Anchorage (disambiguation) as well. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:35, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

On 24 March 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article El-Kouf National Park, which you created or substantially expanded. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/El-Kouf National Park. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Disambiguation link notification for July 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lavinia Nature Reserve, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page King Island (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for Motunau Island
On 2 August 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Motunau Island, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Motunau Island, with an area of just 3 ha (7.4 acres), is a breeding habitat for 5,000 White-flippered Penguins (pictured) and thousands of other seabirds? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Motunau Island. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
