Control copyright icon Hello MacCready, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to The Blair Witch Mountain Project have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:03, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Jana Grazer.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Tangled: The Series a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Thanks for uploading File:Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure logo.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Information icon Hello, I'm Justlettersandnumbers. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Jana and Gavin Grazer, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Hi. Please do not add uncited material to articles, as you did with this edit to Miles Morales, as this violates Wikipedia's Verifiability policy. As Justlettersandnumbers mentioned to you above, Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. April 2019 - Unbreakable

[edit]

Please immediately revert your move of Unbreakable (film series) to Eastrail 177 trilogy. Did you not consult the talkpage before making such a move? Why would you think it's okay to move something like this without first gaining consensus? There was a discussion about such a move, and consensus was firmly against it; ergo, your move is in violation of consensus. I suggest you undo it right away. Grandpallama (talk) 12:36, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have now undone this move. If you make a move like this again, which ignores consensus, you will most likely be blocked. Please follow policy and gain consensus for controversial moves, and pay attention to existing talkpage discussions. Grandpallama (talk) 10:50, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If appropriate, please add it to Gray asexuality or some other page, with sources, and only then add an entry in the disambiguation page. The term "pandemic" doesn't seem at present to be mentioned in either Gray asexuality or Romantic orientation (to which Panromantic leads). Thanks. PamD 14:05, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of It characters moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, List of It characters, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Hey there - I went ahead and performed the page move so Artemis Fowl is now at its correct location. Additionally I saw the decline notice above for Skullduggery Pleasant. I am quite confident that at least some, if not all, of the books are individually notable and so you could definitely create some individual articles there if you wished. I do agree with DGG that the novella is likely not independently notable and should be covered in the series article as opposed to a stand alone article. If you have questions about children's lit please do reach out - either with a ping here or on my talk page - as it's always of interest. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 04:14, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49: Will do, I'll get right onto that. Would you be able to help me in moving Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code and Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex to Artemis Fowl and the Eternity Code and Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex by any chance in addition? Thank you. MacCready (talk) 02:08, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
MacCready, I don't see evidence that those two were initially published under those names - specifically first edition UK, which I would default to, seem to support current names. Do you have other sources? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 14:25, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. This article looks slightly better. I would like to see some more references added to reinforce the notability, but I don't think it should be restored to the redirect. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please {{ping}} me in replies) 21:03, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Star Wars Trilogy

[edit]

Moving Star Wars Trilogy to Star Wars originaltrilogy was a very bad idea. Not only did you not discuss this move with anyone, but you also mis-spelled the mov "originaltrilogy" should at least have a space. You absolutely must discuss a move of this size on the talk page and reach consensus before moving an article like this. Thanks, The Mirror Cracked (talk) 18:04, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Valkyrie Cain.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Valkyrie Cain.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. A tag has been placed on Dark Calling requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dark Calling. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2020!

Hello MacCready, may you be surrounded by peace, success and happiness on this seasonal occasion. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Sending you heartfelt and warm greetings for Christmas and New Year 2020.
Happy editing,

★Trekker (talk) 16:53, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spread the love by adding {{subst:Seasonal Greetings}} to other user talk pages.

Just a note, I reverted your edits (mostly) and your move because a page should only contain information on one character, not multiple characters that happen to have the same name (unless they are essentially the same character, e.g. Grand Admiral Thrawn). Jacen Syndulla is already mentioned at List of Star Wars Rebels characters#Hera_Syndulla and that is sufficient, considering there is nothing else to know about the character. Jacen Syndulla already redirects there as well. I'll add a hatnote to Jacen Solo about it as well. Regards SoWhy 16:09, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@SoWhy: Per Filoni's quote, it appears the intent is to have them be essentially the same character, à la Thrawn, hence my including them. MacCready (talk) 16:53, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so. Filoni said the name was "to honor the expanded universe character of Jacen Solo", not for this character to be the canon version of Jacen Solo. He also said "maybe, in some way, that lives on through this character. I don’t know yet", indicating that there is no plan to have this character live the same life or indeed re-appear at all. Also, with completely different parents and backstory, the similarities end with the name (according to Wookiepedia there are five characters named "Jacen" in all and none share the same article).
Speaking in-universe, Jacen Syndulla would have been ~30 years old when The Force Awakens takes place in 34 ABY. Jacen Solo was 31 years old when he turned to the Dark Side in 40 ABY (EU continuity), so if Jacen Syndulla was supposed to emulate Jacen Solo's life and downfall, it would have to have happened at approximately the same time as The Force Awakens and there is nothing to suggest that.
Using an example from Doctor Who, before 2005, the Shalka Doctor was the official 9th incarnation of The Doctor but was relegated to non-canon afterwards and the 9th Doctor took his place. Despite both being the 9th Doctor at some point, there are two different articles since they are not the same incarnation.
Sorry for the long fan-boyish post, to make it short, unless you can provide a reliable source that says those are the same character, we should keep them separate. To use the aforementioned example of Thrawn, the sources explicitly confirm that he is to be the same character ("reintroduced", 'reintroduced", "joins...canon"). There are no such sources for Jacen Syndulla. Regards SoWhy 19:27, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@SoWhy: While your first point on timelines is moot due to Thrawn having been introduced at an earlier point in time, I do see the validity in your second one. I believe that they are, but the path the character is to take is yet to be made clear, so shall wait until I can find a second source. MacCready (talk) 19:33, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at F9: The Fast Saga shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. © Tbhotch (en-3). 23:34, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Evil Horde

[edit]

I see you moved the content of Evil Horde back to List of She-Ra: Princess of Power and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power characters#The Horde. The only reason I originally moved it to a separate article in April 2019 was because the same content had been present in both the current target article and the article about Masters of the Universe characters, and they had then developed independently. So we had two different versions of the same content. The current situation is acceptable, but if the Masters of the Universe character list starts to have a list of Evil Horde characters again, we need to take this into account. Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Please stop editing while logged out to continue edit wars and disruptive edits. You are technically blocked on your IPv6 and you've used at least two IPs to support your logged in edits. This constitutes block evasion and sockpuppetry, which I am attempting to ignore. Please ensure that you are logged in on all of your devices. -- ferret (talk) 00:52, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
