Hello
How i delete article i translated? Lamia00o (talk) 12:52, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Lamia00o Welcome to Wikipedia. Since this is your first (and only) edit on the english wikipedia, I'll assume that you mean to delete your contribution on the Arabic wikipedia. Since it is in your userspace there, you can just blank it (i.e remove all text). If you really want to delete the page (and not just blank it), I'll have to do a bit more research on how to get that done on the ar.wiki. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Question from Mayega Tadeo Bakwatanesa (12:41, 2 August 2023)
Hello, i am a musician manager and i would like to create a wikipedia profile for my musician --Mayega Tadeo Bakwatanesa (talk) 12:41, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Mayega Tadeo Bakwatanesa: Welcome to Wikipedia. Since you have a conflict of interest with the person that you want to write the article about, I'd recommend that you start the article in your sandbox, and submit it through WP:AFC. Wikipedia has strict rules on notability of subjects, so I recommend that you read WP:RS and start with finding sources that show the notability of the person that you are managing. If you add them to the sandbox link first, I can take a look at them and advise you further. Another editor has already welcomed you on your talk page and added a list of links. You should definitely go through the "conflict of interest guide" before doing any of the above. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:40, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Articles to drafts
This is the 2nd time an already published and linked page I created was put to the draftspace without a redirection. Shouldn't there be a detailed pro/contra discussion on whether an article is removed and/or deleted, especially when it's several weeks old and linked already, instead of one administrator deciding all of a sudden to remove a page? Glasfaser Wien (talk) 08:22, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, I am not an admin. WP:DRAFTIFY says that older articles should not be draftified, but the rule of thumb mentioned there is to consider a cut-off of 90 days. In this case, the article was just 10 days old. Could you please add some references to the article that help it meet WP:GNG? Thanks, and happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- But if you decide to turn an article into a draft, look up for any links to it from any pages, and bother with them too. Otherwise, the links no longer lead anywhere. And if an article is more than seven days old and has links to it, I believe there should be a removal discussion before it is made a draft. In case the draft is restored to an article, the links will have to be renewed as well. Glasfaser Wien (talk) 10:40, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
But if you decide to turn an article into a draft, look up for any links to it from any pages, and bother with them too.
Since we aren't supposed to link to drafts from mainspace articles, these would be better as red links, which are acceptable in many sections of an article. If someone tries to create an article from the red link, they would be reminded that a draft with the same name already exists, and they hopefully should improve the draft. Also, this way, if/when the draft is reconverted into an article, there is nothing that needs to be done about renewing links in other articles.- I'll also note that you are allowed to move the draft back to mainspace, per WP:DRAFTOBJECT. I would advise you not to do that with the current state of the draft though, but only after adding some references. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:58, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

- Alright, I added two sources and let the page be reviewed. However, now the template says the review may take 4 months or more. That wasn't my intent. The page would be removed from the mainspace for months now when it has been there already. Glasfaser Wien (talk) 13:25, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Page movers
Recently, i got a notification from you regarding some improvement in Alok Kumar Shakya. I was not the creator of page but I moved it as the name was in his official affidavit and on website of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.I want to know more about Page movers right, in your words though i have read about it that after getting that right one will be able to move the pages without leaving a redirect, that happened in case case of moving this page.-Admantine123 (talk) 08:41, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Can we also delete that Alok Kumar politician page as that one is not required.-Admantine123 (talk) 08:47, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- I've now redirected Alok Kumar (politician) to a disambiguation page. Even if you think the redirect isn't required (which i don't agree with), there is no good deletion reason and i'm pretty sure that it would survive an WP:RfD. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:23, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Regarding the page mover right, the most use I get out of it is when I'm draftifying articles. In that case, redirects to draftspace aren't allowed on mainspace, and so it is appropriate to move without leaving a redirect. Once you do a lot of moves where the redirect is subsequently deleted, you should consider applying for the right, not before. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:27, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (22:30, 14 August 2023)
Hi, I have a new question. On the Korean Reunification Flag article, someone made an unsourced (possibly good-faith) edit, and I’m not sure whether or not I should revert. --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 22:30, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- In general, you have three options:
- Remove the unsourced sentence completely
- Add a "citation needed" tag to the sentence
- Find a ref for the sentence yourself, and add it to the article.
- Your choice would depend on how useful/appropriate this new addition is to the article and if you are easily able to find a relevant ref. If you could link to the specific edit in question, i could be more specific.
- I see that you've got a Level-5 vital article to GA since some of our last few interactions. Congrats, good job. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:25, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Suggestion
Hi. The article Elizabeth Jane Bullard is having more than 60% of copyright violations, detected by the tool. However, I am not able to determine whether or not the source is freely licenced for use. What should I do in this situation? Thilsebatti (talk) 05:54, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- The site has a copyright tag at the bottom, but I'm not sure if that applies to the individual self-published book. I've asked on the NPP Discord. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable is able to reply soon. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:31, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi! If a publication does not clearly state its licensing terms, we need to assume that content there is not freely licensed. If nothing is stated, that means the authors retain all rights to their work, and we can‘t normally use it (except for fair use like quotes).
- Looking at the copyvio report, some of the affected text is fine. It‘s mostly quotes, proper names, and some sentences that would be hard to rewrite in a natural way. However, a lot is also copied from the source, including some sentences that contain quotes (this is again copyvio, because the issue isn‘t the quote itself, it‘s the sentence around it).
- I would recommend that you remove or rewrite all affected paragraphs, and then request WP:RevDel. Actualcpscm scrutinize, talk 08:10, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks to both of you!! Thilsebatti (talk) 09:34, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- An editor has requested me to review Reeshma Nanaiah and Rukmini Vasanth. Even though both cases appear to be WP:TOOSOON to meet WP:NACTOR requirements, I think Rukmini Vasanth satisfies the GNG requirements. However, it was deleted a year ago. What is your opinion on this guys? Thilsebatti (talk) 02:35, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- From WP:BASIC:
People who meet the basic criteria may be considered notable without meeting the additional criteria below.
If WP:BASIC (which is very similar to GNG) is met, notability is established :) Actualcpscm scrutinize, talk 06:27, 18 August 2023 (UTC)- For a while I was not thinking about WP:BASIC. Thanks for the reminder. Thilsebatti (talk) 13:31, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from SpringDraw (03:30, 22 August 2023)
Hi, I created an account because a the page for a subject I know well (Clovis Culture) is poorly organized and lacking essential information. Further, it includes a lot of superfluous information that probably should be moved to a separate topic.
I'm considering having my college class contribute to the page as a class project. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for taking this on?
Thanks for your help. --SpringDraw (talk) 03:30, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- @SpringDaw: Welcome to Wikipedia!
I'm considering having my college class contribute to the page as a class project. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for taking this on?
I think this would be a useful link for you to go through. Even if you don't join that, i think reading a few of the testimonials might give you ideas for assignments. I'd suggest that students work on their assignments in their own userspace, or as a draft; with only you moving their finished creations to mainspace, since Wikipedia has a Manual of style which would be different from a normal college essay.it includes a lot of superfluous information that probably should be moved to a separate topic.
You should read WP:SPLIT and then propose a split on Clovis culture's talk page. Happy editing and teaching! Please continue to ping me if you have any questions. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:27, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- As part of the changes for the better diff handling of paragraph splits, improved detection of splits is being rolled out. Over the last two weeks, we deployed this support to group0 and group1 wikis. This week it will be deployed to group2 wikis. [20]
- All Special:Contributions pages now show the user's local edit count and the account's creation date. [21]
- Wikisource users can now use the
prpbengalicurrency

tag. [22] - Two preferences have been relocated. The preference "Enable the visual editor" is now shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis. Previously it was shown on the "Beta features" tab at some wikis. The preference "Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor" is now also shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis, instead of the "Beta features" tab. - New signups for a Wikimedia developer account will start being pushed towards idm.wikimedia.org, rather than going via Wikitech. Further information about the new system is available.
- All right-to-left language wikis, plus Korean, Armenian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Bulgarian Wikipedias, will have a link in the sidebar that provides a short URL of that page, using the Wikimedia URL Shortener. This feature will come to more wikis in future weeks. [25]
Future changes
- The removal of the DoubleWiki extension is being discussed. This extension currently allows Wikisource users to view articles from multiple language versions side by side when the

Comments on this are welcomed at the phabricator task. - A proposal has been made to merge the second hidden-categories list (which appears below the wikitext editing form) with the main list of categories (which is further down the page). Question from Abby8266 (10:35, 2 September 2023)
Hi -- I've tried to start a sandbox page... but to be honest I am completely overwhelmed by all the terminology and instructions. I was not albe to insert photos from my computer which is frustrating. I have no idea if what I wrote in my Sandbox has been saved! I am about to give up.... Can you help? --Abby8266 (talk) 10:35, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- Start small. You haven't saved anything on your sandbox (I can see by looking at your contributions). For now, save the draft on your computer in a text file. I'd suggest that you do WP:TWA to get you familiar with the first few steps of creating/editing. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:40, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Abby8266: Uploading and using images are slightly harder than just editing text. I'd suggest that you create a few sentence of the text content of the article first, and then i'll give you links which will help you to upload an image to wikipedia. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:43, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks -- I think I have just successfully saved my sandbox? I'd really like your comments/suggestions on it. It really needs more references, but I wasn't sure how to add a reference list at the end of the article, and it also really needs illustrations -- i tried to add a photo i had saved on my computer but "it" wouldn't let me.... Abby8266 (talk) 11:20, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

I think I have just successfully saved my sandbox?
Yes you have, here. I'll be making small fixes to the draft over the day. Please look at the changes i make (along with the edit summary) so that your articles are more wikipedia-ready in the future. - Since you really seem intent on adding an image soon, you should go to Wikipedia:File upload wizard and add one image. Please ensure that you answer all copyright and ownership questions properly, as Wikipedia takes that quite seriously. Once you successfully upload an image there, you can add it to your draft. Ping me if you need any help. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- I've made some fixes. Some suggestions:
- Split some of the text into a new section: maybe History or Details
- Wikilink all the museums which have a wiki page. Also wikilink terms that an average reader would like more details on, e.g. "Mesozoic era".
- I've improved one ref with more details, you can improve the rest.
- I've changed a couple of measurements to use a template, you can use the same template for the rest.
- That's it for now, I don't want to overload you with suggestions. Start with these, we can continue from there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:20, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

- @Abby8266:
- Thanks -- I think I have just successfully saved my sandbox? I'd really like your comments/suggestions on it. It really needs more references, but I wasn't sure how to add a reference list at the end of the article, and it also really needs illustrations -- i tried to add a photo i had saved on my computer but "it" wouldn't let me.... Abby8266 (talk) 11:20, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
AFC/RC
Just to let you know, there's something funny going on with AFCRHS2: you accepted multiple requests, creating the pages, but AFC/RC didn't get updated (the requests are still open). Pinging Eejit43. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 13:36, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think my internet connection was a bit wonky at the time. Possibly led to the issue. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 13:49, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

- Odd... I'll look into that! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 13:17, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- I have a lot going on right now so I probably won't get to it for a bit, next time that happens please send the full console log. I haven't been able to reproduce it yet. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 19:00, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Will do next time. I haven't looked at the code for the script, but if there is a way to only run a few editing threads in parallel, instead of all of them, it might help the issue. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:04, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
- I hadn't thought of that, it could be a rate limiting issue as you suggested... ~ Eejit43 (talk) 14:35, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

All sources indicate that he is known as Rishi Kumar and no alternative name calling him Rishi Yadav, like in case of Rajesh Ranjan we have Pappu Yadav. Can you move it ? Admantine123 (talk) 09:26, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Done I had to move it to Rishi Kumar (Indian politican), since it was clashing with a US politician with the same name. If you have the time, please fix the old links. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:48, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- I was trying to move it, but unable to do so. Thanks for clarifying. Also, since you track politics related articles. Please keep a tab on ServerCSS. This user is creating a lot of article, adding surname Yadav to subject's name. However, no source they put, mention the name of subject as such. It was ok, if the subject had an alternative name, but in articles created by him, this is not so.Admantine123 (talk) 09:56, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Have you tried warning them on their talk page? Best case, they have a conversation with you and be better in the future. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:18, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Question from Abby8266 (13:54, 3 September 2023)
hi -- so today I managed to upload 3 photos using the upload wizzard, but now I seem to have lost my "sandbox" so can't try to upload the photos to the page I'm trying to build and I also can't find the edits you made -- when I log in i just get a message saying "page does not exist" Help! --Abby8266 (talk) 13:54, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Question from Abby8266 (13:59, 3 September 2023)
Hi -- sorry to bombard you -- I have now found my sandbox again, but have no idea how to insert the 3 photos that I successfully created and uploaded using the "wizard" -- where do they go? --Abby8266 (talk) 13:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
sorry to bombard you
No problem, that what I'm here for.no idea how to insert the 3 photos
I've chosen one of the images (File:Black Gold Tapestry Sea Battle.jpg) as a lead image. You can add the other images in a new section called gallery, just above the references.

Did you start the barnstar giving or something?
Someone said here that the award for something became barnstars thanks to you, so I'm just curious if you created the first barnstar :) Z!t!@n«T@1k» 15:03, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hehe, no I didn't create the first barnstar. That was created early in wiki history (pre 2005), whereas my account is not even 3 years old. I did award the NPP barnstars retroactively for the past few years. I guess that led to the confusion. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:02, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
- Your account is 3 years old and you've made 81,461 edits. A barnstar for you!

Question about award
Just wondering what the requirements are for the "Fresh Reviewer of the month" Award at NPP - is it for the top reviewer among those first granted the right in a given month? I would have thought I would have qualified as Thilsebatti was initially given the right in July, but I'm fine if that's not how it works. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:27, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi BeanieFan. To make sure that all of the newer reviewers are judged on the same period, I consider the reviews done during the whole month of August, for reviewers who joined anytime in July. Since you were given the patroller right in August, you are in the running for the September award. If none of the new reviewers were able to do at least 100 reviews, then there is no award for that month. Hope that explains it. Happy reviewing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:59, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, that makes sense. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:21, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

DYK for State Council (Sikkim)
On 9 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article State Council (Sikkim), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a seat was reserved for Buddhist monks and nuns in the Sikkim State Council? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/State Council (Sikkim). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, State Council (Sikkim)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- ORES, the revision evaluation service, is now using a new open-source infrastructure on all wikis except for English Wikipedia and Wikidata. These two will follow this week. If you notice any unusual results from the Recent Changes filters that are related to ORES (for example, "Contribution quality predictions" and "User intent predictions"), please report them. [34]
- When you are logged in on one Wikimedia wiki and visit a different Wikimedia wiki, the system tries to log you in there automatically. This has been unreliable for a long time. You can now visit the login page to make the system try extra hard. If you feel that made logging in better or worse than it used to be, your feedback is appreciated. [35]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 12 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 13 September. It will be on all wikis from 14 September (calendar).
- The Technical Decision-Making Forum Retrospective team invites anyone involved in the technical field of Wikimedia projects to signup to and join one of their listening sessions on 13 September. Another date will be scheduled later. The goal is to improve the technical decision-making processes.
- As part of the changes for the Better diff handling of paragraph splits wishlist proposal, the inline switch widget in diff pages is being rolled out this week to all wikis. The inline switch will allow viewers to toggle between a unified inline or two-column diff wikitext format. [36]
Future changes
- All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on 20 September. This is planned at 14:00 UTC. More information will be published in Tech News and will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [37]
- The Enterprise API is launching a new feature called "breaking news". Currently in BETA, this attempts to identify likely "newsworthy" topics as they are currently being written about in any Wikipedia. Your help is requested to improve the accuracy of its detection model, especially on smaller language editions, by recommending templates or identifiable editing patterns. See more information at the documentation page on MediaWiki or the FAQ on Meta.

Draft:Siddharth Sukhlal kushwaha
Hi, Draft:Siddharth Sukhlal kushwaha was unnecessarily moved to draftspace as it can exist in its present version as stub on mainspace. It fulfills WP:NPOL. I will expand it, but I am finding it difficult to do so in draftspace, as I am using mobile device. Can you move it to mainspace Admantine123 (talk) 19:04, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- The articles in poor state are on Wikipedia's mainspace and this article is comparatively clean, with all content that can be added for a one time MLA. It was moved by some new user, when I just wrote one line of the intro. Consider moving it to mainspace as soon as possible.-Admantine123 (talk) 04:46, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
- I guess you figured out that you could move this yourself. The article can be made better by doing the following:
- Reduce information about his father and who his father beat in elections
- Give a good reference for the father-son relationship
- Don't mention detailed information in the lead that is repeated in a later section anyway.
- -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:05, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Can you find the official Bioprofile of Sukhlal Kushwaha from Lok Sabha website. He was elected to 11th Lok Sabha. Admantine123 (talk) 06:52, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Kirnapur Assembly constituency
Why don't you create it. Its from your state. Admantine123 (talk) 04:53, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- This is a former constituency. Right now, my focus is on de-stubbing current constituencies and making sure that they have coordinates and infoboxes. Once that is closer to completion, i'll think about former constituencies. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:07, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- It means in delimitation exercise it ceased to exist. Anyways, whenever you create it, let me know. The deputy speaker Hina Kawre's Father and Mother were multiple times MLAs from there. I will create articles on them after you create that constituency. Admantine123 (talk) 06:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- You can create articles for those MLAs now. They can be linked from the corresponding state assembly election articles, if that was your concern. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:52, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yupp, right. Admantine123 (talk) 06:53, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Also, you can watchlist Kirnapur Assembly constituency even though it isn't created. That way when someone (possibly me) creates the article, you will get the information on your watchlist automatically. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:54, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- I had some time, so I created it. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:02, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

- Bharat Singh Kushwah left BJP ? Admantine123 (talk) 13:24, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- I have no idea. Would be newsworthy if an MLA leaves the party currently in power. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:41, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
