DYK nomination of Radio23

Hello! Your submission of Radio23 at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! APK whisper in my ear 19:37, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

I have commented there. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:11, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

hey can you help me on my talk page link for my signature? ActivExpressionTalkGuestbook 00:01, 3 July 2010 (UTC) (please look at my talk page link)

You have an extra slash ("/") in your signature. The following should do the trick:
<span style="color:#008000;">ActivExpression</span><font color="#E62020">Talk</font><font color="#1034A6">Guestbook</font>
Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 00:04, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
I thought so... because when I look at the link, it says that User talk:ActivExpression/. Thanks! I need to go fix my signature. ActivExpressionTalkGuestbook 00:06, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. If it does not work, come back and tell me. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:07, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Actually, the template should update itself; you do not need to change it. It looks like it accurately shows her at age 48. I only reverted you because you broke the template. If you still see her age at age 47, perhaps you should bypass your cache. Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 04:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Ola's Kool Kitchen

Alright, I will look more closely at the page tomorrow, but I just wanted to point out a few things.

 1. You use single brackets for external links but double brackets for internal links. See Help:Wiki markup for more information.
 2. You should not cite Wikipedia as a reference. Use external sites.
 3. Only one new line is needed between paragraphs; extra newlines produce lots of whitespace.

Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 02:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Okay thanks again, it's really appreciated. I think I fixed that I also want to put up an image on this site and one for Gregg Foreman I'm trying to remember how to do it and looking online but I'm feeling confused on how, also I do have permission for both.Aspland11 (talk) 08:05, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I've added some more stuff to the page the page so please do have a look and advise me if there is any more I can do to make it possible to put up. I feel I should cut the list of artists mentioned but I'd like your advice on what I should kkep. Also could you help me by letting me know how I can load an image up onto the page? Thank you.--Aspland11 (talk) 22:04, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I agree, cut down on about the top 5-10 artists; right now it's a huge list. About the image: if you have permission for Ola's Kool Kitchen to use one of their images, then upload the image, with proof of permission. MC10 (TCGBL) 23:09, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I've finished adding titles to all of the reference links. However, I am confused about whether the article is about "Ola's Kool Kitchen" or "DJ Ola" herself, because if it is about the former, then the last sentence in the article, the infobox, and the external links are misleading. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Ola's Kool Kitchen is the name of the radio show and her work as a music journalist. It's all her work in both mediums though sometimes in articles she apprears as just DJ Ola. Maybe I should say as well as hosting the show Ola also writes for magazines? Well I shortned the list I will clarify what you've suggested. When you have a chance can you look at it and see if it's possible to reinstate the article. Cheers!--Aspland11 (talk) 16:31, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
What I was asking was this: Do you want an article to focus on Ola's Kool Kitchen, or on DJ Ola? If it is the former, you could still have some information about DJ Ola, but in a new section. If the latter, create a new page in your userpage about DJ Ola and write the article there. The list looks much better shortened, but it would be nice if you can add any more content to the page; I'd like to nominate it for DYK, but it needs prose size to be at 1500 bytes, and right now, it is at 872 bytes. Perhaps you can find some history about the page, as I found for Radio23? MC10 (TCGBL) 02:27, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay I have followed your advice. I created a new section within the article. I have added a bit more information. If you need more I can provide a line or two more about the show. Again thanks for all the help! So please do have a look and let me know what the next step should be!--Aspland11 (talk) 20:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate your article for DYK, so if you can find something else to expand the article with to 1500 bytes, that would be nice. Right now it is at about 1000 bytes, which is better, but still is not long enough. You could find something about the history of Ola's Kool Kitchen and add in a section; I would then look into it and copyedit the article. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:24, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again for your help! I have added some more information to the article. I can't tell how many bytes it is but I hope this is long enough. Yes please have a look and see if this is okay in length and if we are ready for it to become real.--Aspland11 (talk) 14:53, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Almost there! It's at about 1300 bytes. Just add some more information, and then we can make it go live. (By the way, if you want to find the page size, just add to your .js file, bypass your cache, and then go to a page and press the "Page size" link in the toolbox. We want the "Prose size (text only)" to be at 1500 bytes.) MC10 (TCGBL) 14:52, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

And also, by the way, you should reference your recent additions to the "DJ Ola" section. MC10 (TCGBL) 14:55, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
By the way, I moved it into mainspace. It is now at Ola's Kool Kitchen. MC10 (TCGBL) 20:52, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Take it easy on this IP. Those edits were in good faith, and certainly not vandalism. --shoy (reactions) 03:59, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

My apologies. It looked like vandalism when he added the same thing to multiple articles. It looks as if he has put the information back into the articles, so I did not need to revert myself. I have struck the warnings and apologized. MC10 (TCGBL) 15:48, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Weidmann's Restaurant

Hi, MC10. I appreciated you listing Weidmann's Restaurant for DYK, but I would have liked to have been notified of the listing. Normally it's common courtesy to notify the editor of an article you're nominating for DYK, GA, FA, etc., so they can give their input if desired. I added the image on the article as well as an alternate hook to the DYK section, which I believe is a bit more interesting. Thanks though! --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 10:24, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, my fault; it was late last night and I forgot to notify you. And thanks for the image. MC10 (TCGBL) 18:24, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

ACC Access Suspended

I have suspended your access to the ACC tool per your incorrect closure of ACC Request #49954. Please don't WP:ABF when you see a company that happens to have a similar name to the username being requested. I noticed that you cited ACC Request #49953 when making your decision to close that request. That one was also wrong and the interface user who made that closure has also had their ACC access suspended per the zero tolerance policy on the ACC Tool. In both cases the relevant company had a ccTLD for a different country from the requesting IP address, and the Email used was a Gmail rather than something like a pr@companyname.com domain. FunPika 20:31, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the trouble. I had based my decision primarily on request #49953, and if that request had been absent, I would definitely have created the account. May I regain tool access, please? It will not happen again in a future incident. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:40, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Although I unsuspended you per the above comment, soon after another ACC user pointed out that WP:CORPNAME is actually much harsher than I thought it was. The close I suspended you over was actually justified under Wikipedia policy (although I am planning to start a discussion about that in the near future). FunPika 11:30, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh well, either way, I need to look over the username policy again. MC10 (TCGBL) 17:17, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome; I have successfully nominated it for DYK. MC10 (TCGBL) 21:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi MC10, the page Ola's Kool Kitchen has now been nominated for deletion by Guy. He says that most of the sources are unreliable and it is a minor DJ show on a minor radio station etc and a COI is extrememly likely. He also states that the references are just the show's own site, which isn't true. Please can I ask you to help respond, as I'm pretty sure if I do anything, having had problems with Guy before, it'll just make matters worse. I'm not sure how long I have to deal with this. Plus I also want to create an ErrorFM page and I was wondering if you could help me with that.Aspland11 (talk) 20:56, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
First of all, you should read WP:COI. I'll try to find some more reliable sources, but they have been hard to find, after a Google search. It would be great if you cold find some more reliable sources such as scholarly journals and well-known newspapers. MC10 (TCGBL) 20:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
I have googled all I can find at the moment. Since the page is up I added a reference from a blog that mentioned her coverage of Panda Bear and it being the only live version available of some the artists material. So I'm stumped. What else could we do to fix the page and address the issues around reasons for deletion?--Aspland11 (talk) 19:19, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
I have to say unfortunately that JzG (talk · contribs) has a point when the article has no reliable sources. We can re-userfy the article, but until more reliable sources are in the article, there's no less of a chance the article will stand an AFD. Not all articles are appropriate on Wikipedia, and this may be one of them that are not. MC10 (TCGBL) 23:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
For now, just say that the article meets WP:MUSICBIO on the AFD. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on an AFD. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:23, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I mean I understand musical appreciation is very subjective, whether it's an internet DJ doing indie stuff or a strange obscure Norwegian classical musician, tastes vary. So thank you very much. I will keep digging for more sources too. Can I ask you for some help to put up an ErrorFM wiki page? Do you think this subject is wiki worthy? The station has been going longer than Radio23, quite a few years. When it comes to internet radio, the information on wiki could use fleshing out and I'm interested in expanding this genre on wiki. If you think I should do so, I can put the skeleton in my sand box with your assistance.--Aspland11 (talk) 02:35, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

It could be wiki-worthy, but unless we have reliable sources, it's unlikely that other people will think so. You can create the article as a subpage of your userpage (User:Aspland11/ErrorFM), and I'll take a look at it. Remember, you can use your user subpages for almost anything. MC10 (TCGBL) 17:22, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Great I will get on that also I changed an edit you did on the Kool Kitchen page. The other edit was correct the word should have been eclectic, I made a spelling error. Thanks again for your help on this and I will see what reliable sources I can find for ErrorFM.--Aspland11 (talk) 17:42, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
It looks like OKK article is again being nominated for deletion. I'm not sure who has put it up again as it's not in the edit history. There isn't anymore info on the discussion page. Do you know whats going on and what we can do?--Aspland11 (talk) 01:35, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I've put the AfD noticed back up onto the Ola's Kool Kitchen article, as I had suppressed it temporarily when it was featured as a DYK. The AfD's discussion is not over, so you are welcome to comment and vote there. MC10 (TCGBL) 01:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
So do I comment where the discussion is being held? You suggested something called Userfy the article. What is that again? I would like to keep it but I'm not sure what I can say to justify keeping the article?--Aspland11 (talk) 15:32, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Userfying means to move the page back into your userspace as a subpage, and delete the redirect left in mainspace. If you wish to justify keeping the article, look through WP:N (specifically WP:GNG) and make an argument. MC10 (TCGBL) 15:41, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

WikiElf Userbox

Hello, on the Template:User wikipedia/WikiElf userbox, you added the category Category:Wikipedian WikiElfs. I was wondering if you would be for or against changing that slightly from "Elfs" to "Elves" as "elves" is the correct plural of "elf". Just wondering. - NeutralhomerTalk22:36, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm fine with changing it to "Elves". Sometimes people use "Elfs", so I get confused. Oh well. Firefox says that "Elves" is spelled correctly, but "Elfs" is not, so feel free to change the userbox. MC10 (TCGBL) 01:29, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Okie Dokie. Just wanted to clear it first. Will change the category (not the actual box) momentarily. - NeutralhomerTalk01:38, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
After the change, the Category:Wikipedian WikiElfs still seems populated and Category:Wikipedian WikiElves is bare. Do I have to manually add everyone over to the new category or will the system take care of that? - NeutralhomerTalk01:45, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
No, it should be fine. It takes a while for one category's members to move to another. There's even a note on each of the category pages: "This list may not reflect recent changes (learn more)." The "learn more" link will give you more information. Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 01:57, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
However, since the WikiElf page said to add the category , some people (like me) have manually added the category in. These need to be changed, or else the pages still remain categorized there. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:00, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
After taking a look at all 68 still in the old category, they have the new category listed on their userpage, but the system just hasn't caught up yet on moving them around on the actual category pages. Once that happens, I will nominate the old category for deletion (as empty). Thanks again for your help. :) - NeutralhomerTalk02:18, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm

I've never had anyone beat me to the punch on my own article. I finish writing it and go eat ice cream, come back and someone's nomed it already. ResMar 17:39, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Lol, sorry about that. You can introduce alts if you wish to; my hook is a bit awkward. MC10 (TCGBL) 17:43, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
I think you would do better with a hook about one of the awards. Especially the Jerlov. Say, how did you find that article anyhow? (ps No need to message me when I'm tracking your page :) ) ResMar 17:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Sure, feel free to make an alt. I found the article while doing new page patrol. MC10 (TCGBL) 17:58, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Eh, I might be too lazy...*hint hint* ResMar 18:06, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

The first draft of my nomination is up. Let me know if there's anything you want tweaked or added. It's your RfA, so feel free to transclude it whenever you're ready- I can always copy edit my statement after it's up (if you do, could you stick 5 tildes after my sig, thanks!). Best of luck. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:13, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I'll wait until tomorrow to transclude the RFA; it's getting late around my time. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm looking forward to asking some questions. I want to support but I'm going to have to look you over a bit before I do.--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 02:38, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
That's fine with me; ask any question you wish. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok then. I see a few red flags to be honest but I'm going to let you answer my (and others) questions before I land in the oppose column again. I'll do all of that once you transclude it in the morning (it's late here as well). Good luck on it whenever you being the "week in hell".--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 02:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I think that's a good approach. Although the end result might no be what we hope for (done't mind me, I'm just a pessimist!), being as open abut things as you possibly can will only help you in the long run (though it might not help in the sort term). Oh, and RfA is a hell hole. Don't say I didn't warn you! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:49, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Agreed, openness can only benefit one in the long run. MC10 (TCGBL) 02:54, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Good luck ;) Airplaneman 03:55, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Transcluded. Ask away! MC10 (TCGBL) 15:40, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry for grilling you so hard and I feel bad but you said that "openness can only benefit one in the long run". With that in mind, my oppose rational was intentionally long to try to tell you what the issues were so you can work on them. I will never oppose based off of age but candidates need to "be adult like" in order to pass most of the time. (hence the fact that my RFA failed) I hope that you take it as advice rather than scolding and disapproving and I look forward to supporting in say December or January if you can fix those issues.--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 18:33, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
There's absolutely nothing wrong with your oppose statement. I will take your issues into account, and will (try) to fix them. I am considering withdrawal, but since the RFA hasn't even gone on for a day, I'll wait for a while. MC10 (TCGBL) 18:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Withdrawing is up to you, I won't tell you to withdraw or keep going but I still wish you the best of luck on this RFA. If you work on fixing those issues that have been pointed out, I'll be more than happy to support and possibly even nominate or co-nom you in December/January. You've made an improvement but you still need to keep it going for a few months to prove to others that you are mature. All the best,--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 21:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry if it looks like I'm badgering supporters at your RFA (I'm not) and my oppose is weak. I'm not sure this RFA is going to pass, but I'd recommend keeping it running for feedback for a bit longer. Everyone in oppose is certainly acknowledging your hard work and commitment - I think it's just a question of polishing up on a bit more "wikilore" and then you'll be fine. Happy editing. Pedro :  Chat  21:47, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm fine with all of your comments. Thanks everyone, I'll take your advice and comments to help improve myself. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:40, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
As the community has stated that I do not yet have the maturity and experience of an admin, I am withdrawing the RFA in order to improve on my weak areas. MC10 (TCGBL) 21:13, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Good luck in the future! -download ׀ sign! 21:31, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello

I opposed your RfA because of Q9 and WP:Ageism, like many other editors. What I'd like to tell you is, you are a very wholesome editor with a lot of content creation AND anti-vandalism work, but I think you should (and I should to, to be sure) be a bit more familiar with NP Patrol. I hope you will apply again when you are 18, and that you are more familiar with inclusion criteria then. All in all you are already a much better editor than I. Cheers Kayau Voting IS evil 01:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

The only thing that I'd have to disagree with is the must be the: "You must be 18 years or older to run" thing. We as humans made up some superficial rule in society that one must be 18 in order to be an adult but in the dark ages for example, if you were not married and had 3 kids by 18, you were worthless and possibly ugly! True "maturity" that many !voters were looking for may or may not come to MC10 when he turns 18. I've seen grown adults act less mature than him and I think that it is unfair to oppose anything like an RFA on a site that requires thousands of volunteers like MC10 based off of their age. MC10, despite my oppose and some rather rude comments from other opposes (not directed at Kayau at all), you behaved admirably and that has earned an immense amount of respect from me. Like I said earlier, I look forward to supporting in the future whether you are 18 or not.--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 01:26, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you White Shadows, I appreciate your comments. MC10 (TCGBL) 01:42, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
You are probably wanting me to bugger off now don't you? I've already caused far too much trouble for you today and if that is the case, just tell me!--White Shadows It's a wonderful life 01:43, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Hey, just dropping by; sorry your RFA isn't going too well. I concur with White Shadows here; I judge by maturity, contributions and the amount of clue/policy knowledge an editor possesses, (in other words: would they make a good admin?) not their age. There's always a next time! Airplaneman 03:59, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Would you like some help?

Hi! I'm sorry that your RFA is not going well. Quite a few people (including me) are opposing this RFA because of your CSD answers. As you have indicated that you would like to handle CSDs, and as this has become a major tipping point in this RFA, I think you will need to prove at your next RFA that you can handle them correctly. Most of my work on the Wiki is dealing with CSDs (especially the notability ones). If you like, I can offer you guidance and help you in that area?

I am convinced that if you can get CSDs and AFDs handled (which will also demonstrate a good understanding of policy) you will easily get your mop next time. Stephen! Coming... 16:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, I would be happy to listen to your guidance and advice. MC10 (TCGBL) 21:12, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
I think the first thing you can do is (if you haven't already) have a read of the essay WP:WIHSD. It was originally written by my Admin coach, and has been expanded by others. There are a few exercises you can have a read through as well, linked from that page.
I think the best approach is to have a go at nominating articles appropriately, and see where your weaknesses/strengths are. We can review how you are getting on in an Userfied area. Would you like to create one, and drop me a link, please? We can use that page as a handy point of contact to review your work, and it has an added advantage of being somewhere you can link to at your next RFA, to show that you truly do understand CSD and the associated policies.
The next step will be to having you patrol the CAT:CSD pages and overturning non-candidates, or correcting db tags to the correct type. Nothing is better at gaining support at RFA than someone thinking that you already are an admin. You can also record on your userfied CSD Review page whether or not you agree with the tagging, and the checks you did. I'll explain in more detail when we come to it.
All these actions are optional; I appreciate that you may have school/college work that will have to take priority (real life can be a pain). So if I do end up piling on too much for you, then please let me know! Stephen! Coming... 21:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
I have finished reading the essay WP:WIHSD, and it has been pretty useful. I'll do the exercises and create the user subpage later; I have other urgent work to do right now. Thanks for offering your help; I appreciate it very much. Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 22:26, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
I have created the workspace here. Please feel free to use that page. MC10 (TCGBL) 16:40, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Musings

Hey, I'm sorry your RfA didn't go as well as expected. That said, I think there's a lot of good advice you've been offered there and many editors seem to think that you'll make a fine admin in the not-too-distant future. Obviously, I think you'd do at least a reasonable job now or I wouldn't have nominated you, but more experience certainly can't hurt. It's good to see you've been offered help with CSD- I'd offer to help you myself, but it's an area I prefer to avoid (attack pages and spam aside) and I generally don't touch. I think, given 4-6 months as a rule of thumb, you'd have a pretty good chance of success. It would do you no harm to get another GA or so. They're not too difficult and can be quite easy if there's enough material about the subject on the internet and you're interested enough. Also, non-admin comment at RfPP and AIV are always welcome and generally appreciated by the admins who have to make the final decision. I work in both quite frequently, so I'd be happy to help you out with anything. All in all, take on board the advice you've been given, don't be too disheartened and keep up the good work that you do. Other than that, User:SoWhy/Ten Commandments for Speedy Deletion might be of interest to you and don't hesitate to drop by my talk page if you need anything or email me if you feel the need to relieve your frustrations! All the best to you my friend, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:55, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

HJ speaks for me as well. This was a really hard !vote for me, and I hope you don't get discouraged. Hang in there, and it really will go better in 6-8 months. See you around, Jusdafax 05:16, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Here here. Don't be disheartened, my man. The RfA proceedure can be a very cruel one, but it'll do you a lot of good, knowing what to work on now. Best regards, Orphan Wiki 19:53, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks everyone. MC10 (TCGBL) 15:16, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi MC10 regrets from me too that I didn't feel able to support yet. Please don't feel discouraged, and if in future you want feedback on your CSD tagging I'd be happy to oblige. Also if you want to try something different you'd be very welcome at Wikipedia:Unreferenced_BLP_Rescue ϢereSpielChequers 12:22, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Lune Forest

Hello! Your submission of Lune Forest at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Thelmadatter (talk) 15:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello there, MC10. There was a recent discussion at WP:ANI regarding the systematic removal of Media Matters for America as a reliable source. I've started an RfC regarding MMfA, Media Research Center, Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, Newsbusters etc. at Wikipedia: Identifying reliable sources. Some of us believe that these hyperpartisan sources should never be used as factual sources at Wikipedia, due to their tendency to selective edit facts. Please participate in this important discussion, concerning one of Wikipedia's most fundamental editing policies, on the Reliable Sources Talk page here. Skoal. WikiCup 2010 July newsletter

We are half-way through our penultimate round, and nothing is yet certain. Pool A, currently led by Hungary Sasata (submissions) has ended up the more competitive, with three contestants (Hungary Sasata (submissions), Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions)) scoring over 500 points already. Pool B is led by New South Wales Casliber (submissions), who has also scored well over 500. The top two from each pool, as well as the next four highest scorers regardless of pool, will make it through to our final eight. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Planning has begun for the 2011 WikiCup, with open discussions concerning scoring and flags for next year's competition. Contributions to those discussions would be appreciated, especially concerning the flags, as next year's signups cannot begin until the flag issue has been resolved. Signups will hopefully open at some point in this round, with discussion about possible changing in the scoring/process opening some time afterwards.

Earlier this round, we said goodbye to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), who has bowed out to spend more time on the book he is authoring with his wife. We wish him all the best. In other news, the start of this round also saw some WikiCup awards sent out by Finland Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions). We appreciate his enthusiasm, and contestants are of course welcome to award each other prizes as they see fit, but rest assured that we will be sending out "official" awards at the end of the competition. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
