Please use periods

[edit]

Why do you not believe in using periods to end sentences? I have had to add periods at the ends of several sentences which you rewrote. 2600:1700:E820:1BA0:BCA7:8C48:77F6:D6F8 (talk) 13:28, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of citations and other content, et al, in comics articles

[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, you have made non-constructive changes to the Lead sections of hundreds of Wikipedia articles, apparently with the intention of emphasizing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and which you did with the recurring edit summary "A change to formatting". While mentioning the MCU is perfectly fine, you also made a number of harmful changes to those passages, including:

  • Removing mention of other actors in adaptations that predate the MCU
  • Removing citations
  • Removing other details, such as when an appearance was the live action debut of the character
  • Removing the period from the end of the sentence, and in one case placing in the middle of the sentence, where a comma would go.

These non-constructive changes can be seen in your edits to Thunderbolt Ross, Betty Ross, and Mysterio.

These changes are not helpful, and have nothing to do with merely changing "formatting". Omitting details, or any other content from an article, should be justified in your edit summary. This is especially the case when you remove a citation, given how important Wikipedia's policies on Citations and Verifiability are. Please cease these edits, and please revert the non-helpful aspects of the edits you've made to these articles, so that other editors in the editing community here do not have to clean this up for you.

Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, make sure you use the Preview function before saving changes you're not sure about, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of science fiction action films, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Captain Marvel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 00:07, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. ☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 00:32, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You Deleted a Photo of Mine From 'Mountaineering' with No Summary. Why, please?

[edit]

On May 12, you deleted a photo of mine from 'Mountaineering' with No Edit Summary as to 'Why'. I had a photo up (see pic at right) specifically placed to only take up whitespace, as noted in my Edit Summary. I'm thinking of adding it in again but have no wish for an edit war, so would you please explain your reasons as to why it was deleted (after only 4 hours) in the first place. And to aid communications and understanding, I'd appreciate it if you followed the guidelines and filled out the Edit summary related to your edits, in the future. I see other complaints about you making non-constructive edits and consider this another one - it merely depicts a mountaineer in a beautiful area, showing how simple this lovely sport can be - an ice axe, rope and prusik and you're off! TIA for your expected response. Cheers. BrettA343 (talk) 19:13, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe film characters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Information icon Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page Kraken (disambiguation). However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation dos and don'ts, you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
    • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion under CSD G13. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available here.

Sorry for the revert, LoreMaster. I read it too quickly as Himesh Patel and didn't read the user name, so I though at a first glance that it was vandalism as Himesh clearly doesn't appear. Please use edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! — Manticore 09:32, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Baja 400 moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Baja 400, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:12, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have added several cleanup tags at Andy McMillin. This will flag the article at the newcomer site and may attract several new editors to improve the article. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:06, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page Andy McMillin has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://web.archive.org/web/20200923215833/https://andymcmillin.com/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. — Diannaa (talk) 15:23, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi LoreMaster22! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Callaway Golf Company that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Whenever you add or remove content, as opposed to minor typo correction and whatnot, you should not mark it as minor. You've been warned about this before.
