Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Lmgdatagroup. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 15:46, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Username concerns
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Lmgdatagroup", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is the name of a group or organization. Group and role accounts are not allowed; each account should be for one person only, and an organization's name may not be used as an account name. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 17:04, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at The Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences, you may be blocked from editing. Theroadislong (talk) 17:07, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.
If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 19:07, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Your username may be based on your real name, or not, as you choose (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations) but it should not be the name of another living person or of any group or organization. A username of the form "James at LMG" would be acceptable, and would serve to declare your affiliation.
Even with a individual account, in any edits to do with LMG you would have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and should carefully read that guideline and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Please note in particular that in any COI editing you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use (and in some jurisdictions by laws against covert advertising) to declare your interest.
