The election results

I have recently made some reverses to your edits to the Malaysian general election, 2013. Namely the results of the election and the list of members of Parliament should be kept separate. A discussion was made by several editors on past Malaysian election articles which called for this matter to be treated as such. Would appreciate if you did not remove the topics without further discussion.Lazybugger13 (talk) 20:41, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Article review request

Hi Lihaas. I went through your profile and thought maybe you could help me provide your feedback on the article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Hemant_batra. I would really appreciate your help. Meera devine (talk) 07:40, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of terrorist incidents, January–June 2013, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Adamawa and Borno (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Iranian presidential election, 2013

Hi! We have an edit war in the article Iranian presidential election, 2013. One user says that all candidates will be in inbox but some others and me think different. Please add your comment to the article talk. Thanks. Tabarez (talk) 06:12, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

What is important

Right now I am trying to sort the dross from the facts.

  • The soldier was stationed at the barracks. Right? We don't need to say "Someone said the soldier was stationed at the barracks". We make a statement that he was stationed at the barracks, and this goes in the first sentnece of the section, not the last, in a quote from a politician.
  • The Ministry of Defence may have been annoyed that the polly gave out the name of the dead man, but the quote doesn't say that he gave out the name of the dead man, so it is a non sequitur.
  • The fact that the Ministry for Defence would have preferred to have done it differently is really not at all important in the larger picture. There real concern is that the event happened at all.

It isn't worthy of an encyclopedia. You can go through the minute by minute reports and find a hundred facts that are not relevant to an encyclopedia.

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Foreign rebel fighters in the Syrian civil war, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ennahda (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

See-alsos

Hi. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you regarding the see-also. Editorializing, as you rightly observe, is not permitted in articles. But this applies to implicit editorializing as well, and drawing analogies with the Algerian War, even indirectly, is not allowed by Wikipedia's NPOV policy. -- The Anome (talk) 18:30, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Tawadros and el-Tayeb

Hi Lihaas, I started a new thread at the Talk:2013 Egyptian coup d'etat regarding the inclusion of Pope Tawadros and Imam el-Tayeb in the article's infobox. Seeing as you've reverted my earlier edits removing these two men, I'm curious as to your reasoning for this. I didn't think your edit summary was sufficient. --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:46, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Closure of 2013 Egyptian coup d'état second move request

Hi Lihaas

Just in case you missed it, there has been a lot of debate regarding your decision to speedily close the second RM at Talk:2013 Egyptian coup d'état#Requested move (July 12). I'm actually not clear whether it was correct and permissible procedure to open an RM to a new target within a short while of the previous closure. It could be argued it's valid because the previous move suggested a destination that was no more acceptable to many users than the original one, hence you couldn't say for certain whether the consensus was for the status quo or not. Certainly some people had already come in to say "support" so the debate was active.

But whatever the rights and wrongs of the second move request may have been, I don't think it was appropriate for you personally to close it, given your heavy involvement and strong opinions in the previous case. WP:RMCI#Conflicts of interest is very clear on this point, and I would therefore politely ask that you reopen and relist the move request, to allow it to run its course. If an uninvolved party steps in and determines that a speedy closure is in order, then that's fine, at least we could feel confident that good procedure had been followed. Many thanks!  — Amakuru (talk) 09:21, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
