Civil?

I've just noticed your comment:

Thanks Bilcat, but they are edit warring over it, Pdfpdf claims to be in bed now, but the edit war as gone on sice as late as 1 pm today where I am--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 14:45, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I suppose that you realise that by saying "Pdfpdf claims to be in bed now" you are implying that I'm lying? You have zero evidence to support that assertion, particularly given it was the early hours of the morning where I live, and the next day was a work-day. Please choose your words more judiciously, and if you are going to make such claims, please provide supporting evidence. (And yes, it is 4am here, but "tomorrow" is Sunday.) Pdfpdf (talk) 17:36, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

sorry if that sounded rude, but it was a bit of a coincidence that logged off after I stepped in, the incident with Delta has been dealt with, those images you were trying to put into the article were NFCC violations. Sorry if it sounded like I didn't believe you--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 09:00, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback correctly, and for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks.  —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 12:44, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:45, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Yay!! thanks Dabomb! --Lerdthenerd wiki defender 16:22, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

This is not the proper tag for this type of problem. The author has copied material from the List of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps characters article. Rather than propose the new article for deletion to make way for a page move (which is not going to happen), it would be better to revert the deletion of material at the source article (which has been done) and to change this new page to a redirect to the original. Hello,

Just a quick question. You removed the external link I provided on the AvPD webpage to this youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ7qYH4ud4U asserting that it is under copyright. This seems highly unlikely to me?

You also said it can't be used anyway, presumably because it is not a source that represents an "authority" on the matter. However, the link specifically states that it provides a first-person, subjective or phenomenological account of AvPD. Inherently, an authority on such an experience is a person with that diagnosis. It's inclusion is merited due to the fact that subjective accounts of such conditions differ from objective categorial entries from diagnosticians. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FiachraByrne (talkcontribs) 13:37, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Edit: I've opened a discussion topic in the Talk:Avoidant personality disorder page if you'd prefer to answer there.FiachraByrne (talk) 13:55, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

I've posted another reply to you in Talk:Avoidant personality disorder. Just to reiterate, there's no blanket ban on the use of YouTube as an external link. In this instance, there's no issue of copyright and not all YouTube videos are under copyright. In terms of authority, as I've stated above, this video, which I'd encourage you to watch, was specifically designated as providing a first-person narrative of the condition. No-one else but a sufferer could be an authority in that regard. It informs the objective and clinical information in the general article but is not a source for any of that information. Hi. Just to let you know I have deleted this as CSD A3 because it has a link in it. If you have a moment do check out WP:NPP an WP:CSD. Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 79 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 64 have participated. Interest is high due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page, and many new and first-time copy editors have joined us for the drive. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. We have assisted in the promotion of seven articles to Good article status so far this month.

Progress report

We have already achieved our target of reducing the overall backlog by 10%; however, we have more work to do with the 2009 backlog. We have almost eliminated May 2009 and we only have some 700 articles left from 2009. It is excellent progress, so let's concentrate our fire power on the remaining months from 2009. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!

Utahraptor resigns

The UtahraptorTalk to me has decided to step down from his position as project coordinator due to real-life issues.

Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive report

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive! This newsletter summarizes the March drive and other recent events.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

There were 99 signups for the drive; of these, 70 participated. Interest was high mainly due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page. We had a record-breaking 84 articles listed on the Requests page in March; 11 of these have been promoted to Good article status so far. Several of our recent efforts have received Featured Article status as well, and the GOCE is becoming a solid resource for the Wikipedia community. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.

Progress report

Remarkable progress was made in reducing the backlog this month, as we now have fewer than 500 articles remaining from 2009. We are well under the 4,000-article mark for the total number remaining in the queue. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 53% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their April drive has started.

New coodinators

On March 21, SMasters appointed Chaosdruid (talk) and Torchiest (talk) as Guild coordinators to serve in place of The Utahraptor, who recently stepped down. Please feel free to contact any coordinator if you have any questions or need assistance.

Zajdi zajdi sonce song edit

Pjesma Zajdi zajdi sonce, Local User don't revert my edits to this songs history, couse claims that Aleksandar Sarievski composed it are [false]!!!!!! Aleksandar was Macedonian traditional music - folk singer and thats it, he was not composer nor song writer and { Zajdi zajdi song } is ancient and at least 500 years old. Im guessing Mr. Sarievski lived 500+ years Please don't make Macedonian history based on lies and fiction. I lived in SFRJ long enough to know what is what and who is who.--70.130.144.54 (talk) 10:46, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

RE: Song zajdi zajdi

I explained in my message to you, Aleksandar Sarievski(1922-2002) was only Folk song singer and he can't compose or write something that is 500 years old {absurd} This is Macedonia root song, just like Chinese, Black American, Indian, Egypt etc. Root Song/folk song and it belongs to the people and not to Mr. Sarievski. Concensus

Concensus consists of 3 people who are against it (my edit) please give solid prof thet Aleksandar Sarievski composed and wrote this song, you cant because musical score/arrangements for this song made Orchestra of Radio Television Serbia (Yugoslavia) back in 1950's based on version played, sung on weddings, taverns, street...etc. song is tranfered from generation to genaration--70.130.144.54 (talk) 13:28, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

first off stop reverting and give sources stating why Alek did not compose the song, if you continue to revert people you will be blocked--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 16:30, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

R.e. my talk

It is probably a good idea not to get involved. Some bad things were said, and a ruckus ensued. With luck it will die down if no one else brings it back to the fore.

Unfortunately Blofeld did say some things which, while I am not sure were intended in quite the way the were taken, was inappropriate, childish and totally over the line. --Errant (chat!) 13:07, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

I found the 'bum chum' remark but nothing on calling people 'illiterate Spainards', its still partially lies, I know Blofield can occasionly lose it (i had to step in when he personal attacked another user), but Blofeld is like a mate on here and i wont have people upset him but i will step back for a moment--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 13:09, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

The Guild of Copy Editors – May 2011 Backlog Elimination Drive

The Guild of Copy Editors invite you to participate in the May 2011 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive began on May 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on May 31 at 23:59 (UTC). The goals of this backlog elimination drive are to eliminate as many articles as possible from the 2009 backlog and to reduce the overall backlog by 15%. ! NEW ! In an effort to encourage the final elimination of all 2009 articles, we will be tracking them on the leaderboard for this drive.

Awards and barnstars
A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants. Some are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page.

your not the bad guy, but you should know not to edit war by now--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 12:16, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Does it change the fact that one or two guys try to sabotage a nomination with useless comments? In a comment section they could write what they want, without spamming the page with more or less unreleated comments, which have less to do with actual voting progress. --Niabot (talk) 12:23, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

discussions such as FPC's and AFD's aren't just for voting they are for commenting on the rational behind each contributors votes, this is not simply an election--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 12:26, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

I accept that. But i don't accept discussions which aren't related to image itself inside the consensus procedure, disturbing everyone with 100m of text with nothing closely related to the actual image anymore. --Niabot (talk) 12:28, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
well remind people not to soap box, if they continue then you may revert but use an edit summary like 'stick to the discussion please, no soap boxing'--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 12:30, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Progress report

We are making slow progress on achieving our target of reducing the overall backlog by 15%; in order to accomplish this goal we will need to complete about 400 more articles. There were 63 signups for the drive; of these, 45 participated. During the month of May we reduced the backlog by approximately 10%, and made remarkable progress on eliminating articles tagged from 2009. There are now only 15 articles left, down from the 415 that were present when the drive started. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 54% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". See you at the drive! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.

Your revert

Can you explain this? And a edit of a sysop has never had more value than a well sourced edit (in this case two sources). I see your behavior here as vandalism, and don´t want to use my tools here as there are more than enough sysops around, so would you please rollback it by your self? Thanks in advance. --WizardOfOz (talk) 17:33, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

that edit was spilling into an edit war, i politely asked why they were continually reverting kwagamki (is that how its spelt?) if you read the later history you'll see they were still reverting kwagamki, so therefore if anything im not a vandal the users persistanly arguing with an admin like kwagamki are!--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 18:58, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive
GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Your drive coordinators – Dianna (Talk), Stfg (Talk), and Dank (talk)

140.254.227.179

FYI. Long-term pattern abuser. See this entry, just by way of example. Any help in dealing with him would be appreciated - JohnInDC (talk) 21:21, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, seems he has a problem with Jews based on his edits, I just reverted and warned him best not respond to his taunts--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 21:22, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, the taunts are just silly. It's his edits. Several pages wound up semi-protected back in March as a result of his busy-ness; probably that's what will have to happen again. He appears to edit from public terminals at Ohio State, and there is surely a limitless supply of them! JohnInDC (talk) 21:25, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
they all appear to be 140.254, we should keep an eye out for those IPs and maybe a rangeblock is needed--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 21:27, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
I actually made a list of his IPs last time around - I may go fish it up. JohnInDC (talk) 21:29, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, John. The taunts are meant to be silly. Heck, most of my edits are meant to be silly. I don't believe all that anti-Semitic crap---my only abnormal belief about Jews is that they may have an easier time getting jobs in media and entertainment than the rest of us, due to connections, not any grand conspiracy. I certainly don't hate them. I'm more trolling than anything else---and as for the Rugrats-related stuff, go watch a "Drew Pickles goes to..." video on YouTube and you'll understand where I'm coming from. I'm trying to be entertaining and a little bit frustrating, but mostly entertaining. As such, I'm laying off the Jewish stuff. I'm sure you'll continue to revert my vandalism and block me, but at least try to see the humor in the edits' content. Don't let yourselves get stressed out over it---have a laugh at my expense! 140.254.227.55 (talk) 14:14, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
also you were socking 140.254, regardless if you were joking your behaviour cannot be condoned--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 14:28, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, well, you also said on my Talk page that you were done with your vandalism so I am not sure I can credit even your "all in good fun" defense at this point - JohnInDC (talk) 14:34, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
hey, John he just vandalised Rugrats again and i reverted him--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 14:35, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
I visited AIV. JohnInDC (talk) 15:21, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks John--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 15:22, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Of course I'm sockpuppeting. Isn't that what public terminals are for? Besides, Lerd, I'm not arguing with your assertion that my "behaviour cannot be condoned" (per Wikipedia standards), although I'd appreciate if you'd make it sound less like a crime and more like...well, not a crime, just going against Wikipedia standards. I know it's not constructive, but it's at least a little bit humorous, and it helps me blow off a bit of steam. I'm trying to cut back because I'm aware it doesn't help me much---there are more constructive and less annoying ways of blowing off steam---and also because I want to put more focus on making useful edits on my legit account (that's right, I'm an editor). I'm really not a destructive person by nature, and I don't want this behavior to serve as a gateway to more overtly antisocial behavior. Old habits die hard, though. I would ask that you not do a blanket IP block, if only because hundreds or possibly thousands of other students use these same computers.140.254.227.197 (talk) 15:59, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't care if you want to have a laugh, this is not the place, go to Uncyclopedia and goof off there!--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 16:01, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Meh. Uncyclopedia isn't my thing. Cracked, maybe; I'd love to write for them. 140.254.227.197 (talk) 16:04, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
just stop mucking about on here ok, its annoying for me to revert you as it is for you when you get blocked--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 16:06, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May mid-drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

Participation: Out of 49 people signed up for this drive so far, 26 have copy-edited at least one article. It's a smaller group than last drive, but we're making good progress. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive, largely due to the efforts of Lfstevens and the others on the leaderboard. Thanks to all. We have reduced our target group of articles—January, February, and March 2011—by over half, and it looks like we will achieve that goal. Good progress is being made on the overall backlog as well, with over 500 articles copy-edited during the drive so far. The total backlog currently sits at around 3200 articles.

Hall of Fame: GOCE coordinator Diannaa was awarded a spot in the GOCE Hall of Fame this month! She has copy-edited over 1567 articles during these drives, and surpassed the 1,000,000-word mark on May 5. On to the second million! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg

Username templates

Hi. I've noticed that you have templated some users with problematic usernames. It's appreciated, for real. The only thing I'd say is just to remember that the entire purpose of those templates is to inform people that there is a problem when they likely do not know the name is a problem. You tagged one name recently that was pretty offensive - the user no doubt knew the name was inappropriate so you didn't have to inform him that it was - next time, just report those directly to WP:UAA - but only if it's obvious, remember. The other thing I'd say again is to remember that the templates are about communicating things to people, so you've got to make the templates output things in complete sentences. For example, in this edit, you wrote "may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because unambigous advertising". You need a few more words in there to have it make sense. And I would add, in that particular case, unless I've missed something, that the name is not actually unambiguous advertising as you say it is because there are no edits or surrounding evidence to tie it to a company or anything promotional. That does not mean you can't use the template, because you may in the end have been right, but I would have avoided the word 'unambiguous' because it wasn't unambiguous at that point. Hope this helps. NTox · talk 20:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

thanks, i'll take your advise--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 14:42, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Cerebrum

So it means I am a vandal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Luckydhaliwal (talkcontribs) 19:29, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

no, but dont call experienced users vandals please instead explain why you disagree--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 19:30, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

But why should he revert my work when it is correct. He often reverts my editing and earlier with great difficulty I explained him how he was wrong and then he accepted that he was wrong and reverted my edits. But i cannot explain him everytime. This does not mean that if he is a admin he is always right and other editors are wrong. Simply writing that earlier was better is not sufficient, he should explain why earlier was better.Luckydhaliwal (talk) 19:58, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

I agree but retorting 'No this is better' isn't helping--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 10:51, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
First, neither of us are a vandal. That word has an extremely specific meaning on Wikipedia. You can read the details at WP:VANDAL, but the summary is that vandalism means deliberately harming Wikipedia, like writing, "The cerebrum is made of dog crap. BOORRING!" However, even though neither of our edits are vandalism, it can still mean that edits are wrong. Your versions on those scientific articles are harder to understand at best, and, at worst, outright wrong. I can explain exactly why in each case they are wrong, if you would like. But, for instance, this edit at Cerebrum is flat out wrong. Your first statement, "consists of two approximately symmetric left and right cerebral hemispheres", means that there are two left and two right hemispheres. Second, that's not even the right definition--the correct definition is in the one before you changed it. Third, "cranial" means "of or pertaining to the cranium or skull," so you can't be "most cranial". This is the problem with most of your edits--I think that your knowledge of English is simply insufficient in most cases, because your changes just don't make sense. However, I am willing to give you point by point explanations of each of the changes if you like. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:23, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Roger Rae

Hi Lerdthenerd,

I changed the text back because the original version made better sense - the phrasing suggesting that the stories about Roger's youth may have just been stories. That was part of his character - he was renown for being a great storyteller.

As it is now, the punctuation isn't right and it loses the 'was it really true' quality. If your objective is to make the posting more factual that objective has not been met - it would have been better to cut that sentence out.

The other thing is, his family have read and approved of the original version, and it has been put together by someone who actually knew him.

I'm not quite sure why somebody who seems to not be particularly interested in jazz or having any personal connection would want to alter it - but your prompt removal of my alteration suggests that it's important to you - so I'll bow to your greater IT skill and let you get on with it.

Anyone with any personal knowledge of Roger Rae will know that as it stands it's wrong - but hey - what do we know...

Thank you for your report at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention (UAA). However, your report was removed as UAA is for username policy infringements that are serious enough to warrant an immediate block. General name policy violations should first be discussed with the user on their talk page. A helpful template to do just that is {{subst:Uw-username}}. Note that a request for comment can be filed if the user disagrees that their name is against the username policy, or has continued to edit after you have expressed your concern. You may find the UAA instructions helpful, and I'd recommend reading them over prior to making future reports to UAA. Thank you. You may want to review the comments for your submissions at WP:UAA for clarification. Several of your submissions appear not to meet UAA guidelines. - Vianello (Talk) 02:21, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up

Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September.

Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote.

GOCE November 2012 copy edit drive update

Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

  • Participation: Out of 31 people signed up for this drive so far, 22 have copy-edited at least one article. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
  • Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive. We have reduced our target group of articles—November and December 2011—by over 50%, and 34 of the the 56 requests made in September and October this year have already been fulfilled. However, the rate of tagging for copy edit has increased, and this month we are just keeping the size of the backlog stable. So, all you copy editors, please do come along and help us!
  • The September 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest was won by Baffle gab1978 for his copy edit of Expulsion of the Acadians. Runner up was Gareth Griffith-Jones for his edit of I Could Fall in Love. Congratulations to both.
  • The October 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the discussion and voting stage until midnight November 30 (UTC). You don't have to make a submission to vote!
  • November 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the submissions stage until midnight November 30 (UTC), when discussion and voting begin.
  • Seasonal oversight: We had a slight fall from grace in the title of our last newletter, which mentioned the season in the northern hemisphere and thus got it wrong for the southern. Fortunately an observant GOCE member was ready to spring into action to advise us. Thanks! In future we'll stay meteorologically neutral.

Just been watching a re-run today. It makes sense because Sikhs were formidable warriors. They're about 2% of the population and under the British made up 50% of the armed forces. Nowadays they make up around 30%. They disproportiately won a huge amount of bravery medals. I think 5 Victoria Crosses. All that for around 20 million people. SH 17:29, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Fake warnings

Why was it that you gave a 3RR warning to me? Do you even know what 3RR means? And btw, where is the edit war in the first place? Go through the article history before you try to warn anyone, and yeah WP:DTTR of course.  Abhishek  Talk 18:09, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

And since you mentioned on your userpage, here it is:

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

 Abhishek  Talk 18:12, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

And FYI, the issue was discussed on several talk pages and Superfast was asked not to add those images, but still continues to do so. So please do some homework before you warn any editor.  Abhishek  Talk 18:21, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

A longstanding edit war over a week is still an edit war, the history of the article you worked on yesterday just consists of reverts between you and superfast i think that makes an edit war regardless if he was the disruptive one. also thanks for the trout yum! Abhishek191288

Hello, I understand that you are concerned about repeated editing by Abishek & myself. I have repeatedly tried to reason out with him & even discuss something else with him so that we can understand each other & work backwards but nothing has come out of it except his repeated threats. His contributions on the images has been close to ZERO. He adds nothing to the article but is 1st in line to remove images uploaded by me.

I have repeadtly tried to work it out with him but as nothing has come out of it & in view of his threats, i intend to move for blocking him from editing. Superfast1111 (talk) 04:30, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

He seems to think you're the disruptive one Super--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 18:43, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Its good to know that Abhishek is doing some thinking. He is making a sorry attempt to glorify himself as some sort of expert whereas the fact remains that he has little or no factual information and can't understand it if someone explains it to him. What he has completely omitted to say is that there are several others who have undone his edits of my work also. There is a line between opinions & facts. He does not seem to know what it is. He has no images to add but wants to go around removing what others have uploaded. One particular editor has even stated that perhaps Abhishek is jealous of the fact that others have been adding images & he has zero images to add.

I can hardly be blamed for travelling extensively on Indian Railways having made several trips & taking lots of images or being passionate about Indian Railways. I simply say that if he feels my images are not relevant, let us see him uploading images of relevance but nothing so far. And ofcourse his constant threats of blocking me from editing on wikipedia have not helped either. He continues to edit without thinking what he is doing.

Question for you: How does one go about preventing or blocking others from editing on wikipedia? There is another gentleman Tiderolls who i have been in touch with regarding Abhishek's disruptive editing. Maybe you can have a word with him. Superfast1111 (talk) 10:50, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ekab, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mayan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
