Speedy deletion nomination of Tearano
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Tearano requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Deadbeef (talk) 20:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Notability tags and CSDs
[edit]Hello. I have gone through and placed either CSD tags or general notability maintenance tags on all of your new articles within the last day. I know you are trying to expand Wikipedia's information on Madagascar's musicians, but the articles still have to follow notability minimums. Please see WP:42 and WP:BAND (especially note one) for more information on what is considered notable. Note that you can potentially make some of these articles notable by including more references that cover the musicians extensively and don't simply mention them. Please don't take offense to the notability contests; they aren't intended to be personal. If you have any questions, feel free to reply here. Thanks, Deadbeef (talk) 21:14, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

PKGA
[edit]Hi Lemurbaby
Just checking whether you saw my reply to your message on my talk page last week...? I've put PK up for GA nomination. I wasn't sure if you were planning to have a look through it yourself, or if I just wait for it to be reviewed by someone else. No problem either way; I guess I should start reviewing some GA candidates myself to speedy the process along a bit - I'm a bit nervous of that because unlike FAC there is no safety in numbers, the decision rests solely on the reviewer!
Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 13:13, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

PK and City Tower
[edit]Hi Lemurbaby
Thanks very much for the GA review, and you've made some good comments there. I'll hopefully get on to fixing those within the next week.
As an aside, and for a bit of new article fun, I have been putting together an article on Kigali City Tower in the past couple of days. I was intending to nominate it at DYK with a fact of being Rwanda's tallest building but a bit more Googling reveals that it's not actually clear if that's the case. I've seen some sources claiming the Pensions Plaza opposite Centenary House is now the tallest, while others[1] claim KCT is the tallest. Annoyingly I can't find a single citation for an actual height in metres for either building so unless someone can do some original research by going up to the top with a GPS altitude measuring device it's hard to say. Do you happen to know which of the two is taller?
Thanks again — Amakuru (talk) 23:40, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

PK GA points addressed
[edit]Hi, just to let you know I've looked at all the points you mentioned at Talk:Paul Kagame/GA1#Comments so if you could let me know what you think of it now, when you have a chance that would be great! Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 22:00, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Lemurbaby
- Thanks very much for passing the article, glad you think it's up to scratch now! I'll sort out the final few anchor refs shortly, can't believe they keep slipping through the net.
- Going straight for the FA sounds a good idea - I'm sure it's the best way to get good critical opinion on the article. I'll also have a look around for other little projects to work on. If you have anything you're doing at the moment that you'd like some eyes on let me know. By the way, did you get the email I sent you last week? I had a couple of ideas for possible archive searches, if that is at all possible! Thanks again. — Amakuru (talk) 19:39, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I suspect those are just refs that are no longer used because of changes to the text over time. I have removed them, so hope that satisfies. Unless you knew of somewhere they were supposed to be used? Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 19:48, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Me again! I've put the article up for FAC at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Paul Kagame/archive1 so please feel free to have a look at that when you have a moment.
- Regarding China, I've had a quick look for some evidence of the "bloom fading" as you mentioned with regard to Chinese infrastructure in Rwanda and couldn't find anything immediately. I'll look again, and if you do know of any sources for this then please let me know. There are a few general items about Kagame saying Africa should rely on itself and not even rely on the Chinese, which I will reference, but that's not directly related to quality or otherwise of the Chinese projects. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 17:17, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi there, just to say I've expanded the China section a bit to include more detail of Chinese projects, and also a mention of Agaciro and Kagame's views on self-sufficiency. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you had in mind, so let me know. Or if there's any other aspect of it you want me to cover. As I said before I've not found any sources querying the quality of the Chinese investments, so I@ve not included that. But if you do know of any then let me know. I hope the whistlestop tour of Rwanda's finest tourist destinations is going well! — Amakuru (talk) 12:29, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Andry Rajoelina
[edit]Hi, just to let you know that I've done a review of this article (my first ever GA review!) and as far as I can see there are no major problems with it. I've put a list of comments I came up with on the review page, and after that it should be good to go.
Now to get back later to my own work on PK... I'm going on vacation this weekend until Tuesday so may have to have a hiatus. Or else I can write about PK and China whilst sitting in a tent! Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 13:03, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- I just noticed this article, and at a quick glance, it looks pretty good. However, I don't see any mention of the rosewood scandal and the environmental problems that happened as soon as he seized power. There should be many reliable sources for this. I know he does not personally hold full responsibility, but that has been one of the defining effects of presidency. – Maky « talk » 15:43, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Amakuru and Maky. My parents and brother are arriving in Kigali today and I'm taking a week of leave to ramble around Rwanda. We're going to the Nyungwe Forest lodge, will trek to see the mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park, then we'll finish off the week with a safari in Akagera National Park. I'll start responding to the GA comments and Maky's point above once they've headed back to Seattle on June 1. Lemurbaby (talk) 04:51, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
[edit] Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 15:09, 9 June 2013 (UTC) |

I just wrote a fairly detailed article about the English missionary James Sibree from two web sources. He spent most of his career in Madagascar and was involved in the architecture of many churches there. He also wrote about lemurs. Anyway, I stayed up all night writing, and can't focus any more. I was wondering if you would have time to help organize it better and maybe add material from any sources you might have? In fact, I think he was mentioned on that larger French source I needed translated a while back for several other naturalists in Madagascar. Anyway, if you can help me with it, maybe we could submit it to GAN and possibly FAC together. Just let me know if you're interested. – Maky « talk » 13:10, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]In addition to the James Sibree article mentioned above, I was wondering if you'd have time soon to work on an even more important article: Alfred Grandidier. I've found a few English obituaries that provide a general overview of his life, but the best source is in French. Though I can read some of it and Google Translate can help to a limited extent, I was hoping you might be able to go much further with it. Given how many beautiful illustrations could be added to the article and how important he was in early lemur research (and other topics pertaining to Madagascar), I thought this might be a fun one to take to FAC. – Maky « talk » 20:08, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

The Teahouse
[edit]Hello Lemurbaby,
I saw your own comment at the Signpost calling the Teahouse a "woman centric" place. As a male and among the most active of the Teahouse hosts, my response is "not really". The Teahouse is supposed to be a friendly place for inexperienced editors of any gender to ask questions about editing the encyclopedia, which are then answered in a helpful way by experienced editors of any gender. The social norm at the Teahouse is to be calm, friendly and helpful, though sometimes we have to set people straight. If some new editors who are women happen to find that environment welcoming, so be it, we are doing our job. But anyone with a sincere question is welcome at any time, regardless of gender. I invite you to stop by from time to time. The shortcut is WP:THQ. Thanks. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:24, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Lemurbaby, I know you've not been too active recently but I wondered if you could have a look at this edit and revert it if it's vandalism? All best, —Brigade Piron (talk) 20:31, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Brigade Piron, good to hear from you! Thanks for keeping an eye on these Madagascar articles! The edit is actually correct. Hope you've been well. - Lemurbaby (talk) 01:14, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Very belated Happy New Year
[edit]Hey Lemurbaby
I see you're not around too much at the moment, I assume you're very busy in real life! I hope things are going well, anyway. Mini celebrations this week, as I've got Rwandan Revolution up to GA status. More expansion needed before an FA drive though I think... And then on with Rwandan Civil War and Rwandan Genocide. Slow but steady wins the race. All the best — Amakuru (talk) 15:50, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Amakuru, great to hear from you. It's true, I think I got a little burned out, but I'm hoping to rekindle my motivation to the slow but steady level again as well. Congrats on getting Rwandan Revolution up to GA! I saw Brigade Piron pinged me on the review page, and this weekend if it's not already passed I'll have a chance to swing by and give it a read. Best of luck with Rwandan Civil War and Rwandan Genocide. These are massive topics and get a lot of hits (especially the last one) so these are no small task to take on. I hope I'll have the time and energy to pitch in. - Lemurbaby (talk) 03:38, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Thank you !
[edit]Dear Lemurbaby, Thank you to create a page about Riderman. Can you help in creatingn article about Kizito Mihigo ? He is a very well known gospel rwandan singer, organist and composer, peace and reconciliation activist, qualified by "Conservatoire de Musique de Paris"who has participated in composing thé National Anthem. Recently, he has been jailed for 10 years fot plot to kill président Kagame but many rwandans are conviced that thé government has jailed him because of a very criticist song. Can you help to create a page in English please? And Thank you again for rwandan artists and rwandan people in general. Umutesi84 (talk) 16:05, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Paul Kagame
[edit]Hey Lemurbaby
I hope everything's going well for you, busy as you are!
Someone has put a neutrality tag at the top of Paul Kagame and also started a discussion on the talk page, regarding supposed pro-Kagame bias in the article. And specifically regarding the indictment by a Spanish judge in 2008. I haven't responded yet, but I personally think the article still strikes the right balance between sourced facts, due weight of different theories in reliable sources etc. It seems like what to you and me looks like a fair balance between the strong pro-RPF viewpoints in Rwanda, and the strong anti viewpoints found in some sections of the international community, but I could be wrong on that. Thanks! — Amakuru (talk) 14:55, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Collaboration?
[edit]Welcome back! You seem a bit more actively lately. I was wanting to know if you'd like to collaborate on a rewrite of the Alfred Grandidier article. I've got a few good sources, but need help translating them. (One is quite large.) I may also need translation help with a few other small things, too. If you have time and would be interested, just let me know. Hope you're well! – Maky « talk » 15:13, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
