That's So Raven

Great job on the "That's So Raven" logo! I tried to find one online, but there weren't any. It must have taken a long time to completely recreate the logo. Keep up the good work! =D Jumping cheese Contact 22:30, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Vandals

user with IP address 24.198.209.111 has added silly and offensive text as well as tried to add a link to themselves that resulted in the 'Ancestry' portion of the Judy Garland article being removed - I have reverted this vandalism but am not sure how to "WARN" this person to stop doing such silly things - I and others including yourself have put tremendous effort into that article and although it has been removed from the GA list it is an excellent article that provides the most comprehensive overview of the subject and has the potential to be an exemplar of what a "Celbrity" bio should have i.e. it should show exactly why the subject is famous. Can you send a warning to this user? Vono 19:56, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Catherine hayes / Hayes

I created an article about the famous Irish opera Singer Catherine Hayes however initially I mispelled the surname on the article as 'hayes' using a lower case "H". The article titled 'Catherine hayes' with the lower case H should be deleted but I can't figure out how to do it. Can you help? sorryVono 15:59, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:VH - 1.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:VH - 1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Judy Garland Article

Hi LBM - 2 more sectoions have been added to the Garland article - Myths and Rumours - I beleive that these 2 sections are unseless and can jeopardise teh article's value or re classification as a Good article - which I think it is - Myths and Rumours should not be allowed in my opinion unless teh source of the myth and/or rumour is cited in a refeerence - the Rumour listed particularly irritates me as I have done a trmendous amount of research on garland and have read every biography and literally thousands of articles and never came across any 'rumour' that Garland used 'Street Drugs' is there any way that Wikipedia can make the decision whether or not this rumour stays? I do not want to delete it and begin some type of editing war that can damage the integrity of teh article that is one of teh best of its type- providing for teh most part comprehensive factual data however if Wikipedia can rule it useless or irrlevant that would solve the issue. Aren't articles supposed to only contain 'factual' verifiable info? RegardsVono 07:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Well Myths has been put back into the article - I guess at least the "Rumours" section has remained deleted - the next thing we will see is a "Trivia" section that will further undermine the quality of the article and allow every looney to add silly and useless statements as is seen in the Liza Minnelli article I do not understand why that anecdote that Garland did tell on the Jack Parr show requires a seperate heading of "Myths" it could have been worked into another section - perhaps under Movie star as something like this "In later years Garland would often tell humourous stories about the filming of the Wizard of Oz, such as the 3 main characters crowding her out during dance sequences on the yellowbrick road that required the Director to intervene." Or somethign like that which can be referenced from any of the biographies written about- regards vono 86.12.250.117 07:56, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:That's So Raven logo1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:That's So Raven logo1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:M Queens 2001 - v1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:M Queens 2001 - v1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 03:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Adding Image

Hi LMB - I have tried to add an image to the Sueo Serisawa article that will demonstrate his style - the image can also be used in any Judy Garland articles - I own the original portrait by the artist and I took the photograph of it and am willing to allow the image to be used to demostrate the style of the artist or that of Californian Artist movement as well as to highlight the appropriate section of the Judy Garland article (Image in Art) but I can't seem to figure out all the tagging requirements etc. - as stated I own the original artwork that was done by the artist Sueo Serisawa of teh young Judy Garland - it has been in the family for 60 years! I am content to release it for non-profit use only I also do not want to list my real name in the tagging or description section - do I need to list my real name? Can you help or advise how I can do this or if I send it to you can you upload it into the article using the correct tags. I successfully uploaded it a whiel back but someone deleted it .Vono 11:29, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Judy_Garland_publ.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Judy_Garland_publ.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Judy Garland Honors - rename sub article

Hello LBM

I think that the sub-article 'Judy Garland Honors' to the main Judy Garland article should be renamed Judy Garland in Popular Culture as it is a more appropriate title reflecting teh content better - I am not sure if this renaming requires consultations or debates or if it can just be done and discussion can take place afterward - I think the Poular Culture classification is more useful to researhers as well - of course awards and honors belongs within this catchall title as well. Fair use rationale for Image:MGM Ident 1938.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MGM Ident 1938.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MGM Ident 1953 Cinemascope.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:MGM Ident 1953 Cinemascope.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Trevor McDonald

You reverted some text relating to theme music that I removed from the Trevor McDonald article as it was unsourced. You indicated that it was sourced under References. However, if you click on the YouTube ref indicated, you'll find that it does not work, therefore there is no ref to support this text. Similar text appears on other newsreader articles (eg. Alastair Stewart) which I also think is unsourced. Most of the text appears to be far-fetched: would a TV company play the "wrong" theme music for several years as a "tribute" to one of its newsreaders? Probably not. Let me know what you think about removing this text. Thanks. -- MightyWarrior (talk) 14:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for the explanation – it does make sense! Could you have a look at the other newsreader article I mentioned above: Alastair Stewart, as this one has a similar section of text which really appears not to make sense. Thanks. -- MightyWarrior (talk) 21:42, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I thought it wasn't right, but it kept being replaced by another editor. I'll start warning them for vandalism if it carries on re-appearing. Cheers. -- MightyWarrior (talk) 09:32, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Addbot (talk) 07:34, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --07:25, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. This article is under review as part of the GA sweeps, going through and checking old GA articles to see if they meet the higher standards now maintained for GAs. You are the main contributor to this article. It remains informative and well-written but, at present, does not meet the GA criteria. You are encouraged to respond to the review and improve the article. If we can get the main issues addressed, it will remain a GA; if not, it will be delisted. I will drop in to see how things are going over the next week. Regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 22:50, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello LBM! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 8 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 399 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited ITV News at Ten, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Republican Party and Dave Hewson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

improving articles

If you want to "improve" the article, you should be spending time finding and adding content from third party reliable sources that talk about the show in encyclopedic manner. creating a huge cast table full of trivia (yes, adding multiple "unknown" cast members to a cast list cannot be anything other than trivia) as well as personal opinion and commentary (such as "second main male lead") is not actually "improving" the article, it is violating some primary content policies: WP:OR. and finally, the WP:MOSTABLE layout instructions state that tables should only be used when the content is improved by placing it in rows and columns, that is not necessary here and the huge tablizations end up creating eyemagnets that present the castlist in WP:UNDUE weight. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 10:49, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

while the actors most certainly deserve credit if appropriate, they are NOT being given credit when their names are not being used and they are called "unknown". -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:45, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Per WP:BURDEN you cannot reinsert content that has been challenged without providing sources, reinserting "unknown" cast members is a flagrant violation. please stop. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:15, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
