RE: I deleted your user page

Wikipedia is not censored! If you need more advice, read WP:NOT. Also, it's my userpage, not an encyclopedia article, i.e., I can put what I want on it. Herkelthebrave

No you can't. You are not a contributor to the encyclopedia, so you don't even need a user page. While Wikipedia is not censored, it is not useful to building an encyclopedia to have large images of sex acts on user and user talk pages that are linked from other talk pages. STTWbot

Yes I ran into similar problems when I started tagging articles for WP:FR belonging to Category:France without going carefully through all levels. Now I manually generate the cat list and then let the AWB do the remaining work.

All the stub categories related to Germany have been tagged with {{WikiProject Germany|class=stub|importance=}}. Next step would be the remaining germany articles from the manually screened germany related categories with {{WikiProject Germany|class=|importance=}}. Cheers, STTW (talk) 17:17, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Have a look at Talk WP:FR for a new article assessment tool. Might be helpful for you too. STTW (talk) 20:00, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

austin prof.

why did you delete my page?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Adoublin (talkcontribs) 22:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

It actually met several criteria for speedy deletion: G1 (unsalvaegeably incoherent), A1 (no context), A3 (no content), G11 (advertising). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a dumping ground for random HTML. Kusma (t) 06:56, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey,

I was unable to insert this to the right place through my slow dial-up connection due to permanent edit conflicts:

You were the first admin that came in my mind. Why don't you handle this somehow? Thanks, Ukrained 23:04, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I was unfortunately offline, but he has been blocked by someone else. I would have blocked indefinitely instead of 24 hours, but won't overturn the other admin's decision. If he vandalizes again, he will get an indefinite block. Kusma (t) 06:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Kusma, danke fuer Antwort. Ja werde so machen. Werde dich dann wohl fragen muessen : how does that work? -- weiss nicht wann ich dazu komme, muss erstmal nach Wedel fliegen fuer laengere Zeit und habe keinen pc am anfang zur Verfuegung.

Hi I have tried to answer your concerns. Please respond. --Ideogram 01:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

You removed (reverted, really) the {{db}} I placed on the page with the reason "not orphaned". It is true, there are two (well, three, now) places which link to it: a message I placed on a user's talk page and the uploader's personal "contributions" page. For articles, the standard is orphanage, but this is an image, and the image itself is not used anywhere, and it has, in fact, been superseded by an SVG. If you don't mind, please either delete the image, or please don't get angry with me should I put another {{db}} up. — SheeEttin {T/C} 02:25, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

The image is still used on several talk pages (you see that in the "File links" section on the image description page, not via Whatlinkshere). While it is still in use, it should not be deleted. Many of the uses are probably through conditional template switches, so they require actual human work to check. Deletion is probably not urgent and you might get more help if you try WP:IFD instead of speedy deletion. Kusma (talk) 08:26, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Mmm... I wasn't aware of either of those things (file links or using IFD), as I don't often mark things for deletion (and if I do, it almost always qualifies for a speedy). Anyway, my personal philosophy is to delete or change the image in some way that informs a viewer that a preferred image is available, so that they may fix it as they come upon it (much more effort-saving than going through each one individually). But I guess that would be frowned upon. — SheeEttin {T/C} 20:23, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Ta. Only after I requested it, I noticed that we had the Landtag article already. I only requested it because the German wiki has it, but I suppose that the overall Landtag article will do for now (it covers both Austria and Germany).

Hello

Hello, I stumbled across you on the GAC talk page and noticed you had added the small option to the GAnominee template and was wondering if you might be willing to help out by adding that option to some WikiProject templates (if they don't already have it, which most of them don't) Basically I was just hoping to get a couple templates from the National Register of Historic Places Project outfitted with the "small" option. If you could do this when you have time, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it, and be indebted to you. Thanks ahead of time. If you don't want to, just let me know. : )

If you could just do those four for me, I could do everything else I need to do in the other projects I am involved in using your example. Thank you.IvoShandor 12:37, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I have added some "small" options; to make the templates look halfway decent in "small" size, I had to remove one of the pictures in that case. I hope this is more or less what you wanted. Happy editing, Kusma (talk) 05:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Unblocking

While I'll certainly leave it alone if you've already done so, I would appreciate some consultation next time, especially given that it was not only me that reviewed the situation. I certainly saw four reverts there, as did Yamla. While I may have been willing to unblock given agreement to continue the discussion, I don't see what that helps. Hallo Kusma,

CSD

The user who wanted to have the article at the redirect tagged this as CSD A6 and you said it didn't meet the criteria - may I ask what it is lacking? Diff: [2]. Thanks. x42bn6 Talk 01:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

The tag that was visible on the page just said "CSD G6" without any explanation as to why I should delete it and which page should be moved there or why. Incidentally, if all that Tommycw1 wanted to do was to revert your move of North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York to North Buffalo, New York, he could have just done that; he made that impossible by tagging the redirect for deletion. I don't quite see consensus to use either style on the talk page; the best way to get more people involved would be to ask at Wikipedia:Requested moves. But if both of you really agree that the page title should be North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York and nobody disagrees I can move it back for you. Kusma (talk) 06:09, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I actually ment to give a reason, I guess that I didn't really know how to use that tag. If you take a look at North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York from when I had edited it, you will see that I typed '{{Db-g6|This article needs to be deleted so that [[North Buffalo, New York]] can be renamed to North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York (the name of this article) in order to merge histories. This has been discussed on [[talk:North Buffalo, New York]]}}'. I guess that this tag does not work like that because I now see that the reason didn't show up on the page. Yes I do think that we do simply want to change North Buffalo, New York to North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York. How we do that does not matter to me. You guys are the experts.
T.C. 11:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I have made it possible for you to fix this yourself. You can move over redirects without history, so I have restored that situation. You can now move the page by using Special:Movepage/North Buffalo, New York. Enter "North Buffalo, Buffalo, New York" in the new title box, give a reason, and hit "move page". Kusma (talk) 11:45, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I also have no idea what a snigdma is. I blocked him on the base of his usage of the name of Krishna, a Hindu deity, in his username. If you feel that my interpretation of policy is incorrect, please feel totally free to remove the block.--Anthony.bradbury 21:54, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Orion slave girls

Please indicate which part of the WP:FU policy states that only one photo is allowed on a short page. As mentioned in the edit comments, there are three different looks because they came from three different periods of Star Trek production: the pilot episode (1964); a third season episode (1968); and an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise (2005). That is why I've posted the other images, and I haven't received adequate information to explain why two more images are disallowed. Abebenjoe 16:52, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

"The material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose." There is no discussion of the difference between the Orion slave girls in different episodes in the article text; even if there were, it is not clear why these differences need to be illustrated by more images, and "The amount of copyrighted work used should be as little as possible. (...) Do not use multiple images or media clips if one will serve the purpose adequately." Kusma (talk) 06:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

The different pics where from different eras of the Star Trek canon. Also, one was an illusion of what an Orion Girl was suppose to looke like while the other was actually a Orion female. I don't expect you to understand this if you're not a Star Trek fan; so just please trust the "fan" editors and leave this one alone. Thanks FrankWilliams 12:18, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

WP Germany banner

Hi. I have a few ideas on what can be done with the banner, but first I'll need to know a few things about what you want to do with regards to the organization of all the descendant projects and what you want to do with the importance field(s). For more ideas regarding project structure and banner setup, I recommend WP Australia which covers a large number of projects and is perhaps a better format than WP MilHist for us here, being another country-based project.

Regarding the 5-point checklist for B-status, MilHist does not break this down into its subprojects, and I don't think we should do it here either. - 52 Pickup 17:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

My first stable version of the banner is now up at Template:WikiProject Germany/test and a page showing almost all of the fields filled in is at Template:WikiProject Germany/test-full. I've also put in a few fake projects to see how it might look when you have more projects set up. There might be a few bus in there still (you can only look at this stuff for so long). Having importance within the projects is not too much of a problem to code, so they can stay where they are wanted. I didn't know if you wanted to display importance in the banner or not, but it's there for the moment. The fields that are not currently displayed in the sample banner are the "auto" field (for use if you have bots doing any stub assessment for you) and the portal fields - to mark when an article has appeared in a forum somewhere (for an example of its use, see the WPFC banner on Talk:Congo Free State)
So now that everything is there, you just need to decide in which order to arrange everything, and what fields are within the pop-out, and which not.
I had no idea about the class/Class problem. Which one should we stick with? Then we can assign all other articles to a maintenance category and clean them up.
And thanks for the advice about the WPFC banner. It's been fixed now. - 52 Pickup 21:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
The length of text used in the banner was something that I wanted to reduce too. Particularly for the sub-projects. Other things that make the Germany banner bulkier than the MILHIST one is the importance field (that project doesn't use importance at all) and the comments. Do you really use the comments feature? This feature always seemed a little superfluous to me, now even more so with this new 5-point check. The portal feature is pretty minor, and isn't really the easiest to maintain. But I guess it does have some purpose, alongside the banners that say when an article was in a DYK or the main page. - 52 Pickup 10:44, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I've made some changes to the comments and importance section. The code is a lot simpler now, but the text can probably be reduced even further. - 52 Pickup 11:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
The B-test field now looks identical to the WPMILHIST banner when small, and the text has been trimmed a bit further. It might be ready to go live. Shall I remove the DDR and Transport projects first? - 52 Pickup 12:32, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Done. I've just put it up, and changed the help text. I hope there won't be too many problems. - 52 Pickup 15:51, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Assistance needed - Re: Previously Failed RfA

Dear Kusma,

I would like to ask for your assistance. About 14 months ago, I self nominated for an RfA, which I ultimately withdrew (see here). During that RfA, you lodged an oppose vote, and I have taken a lot of the comments from that failed RfA on board since then. I am now up to an average of near on 875 to 900 edits per year, having only recently got back to the net from health issues (Throat cancer), and I am once again considering attempting a request for adminship. I am writing to all those editors who opposed my original self-nomination to ask them to see if they would be kind enough to review my recent work, and to see whether they consider that I have taken those points from my old RfA on board enough to warrant another attempt.

I am enjoying getting back into the swing of working on Wikipedia again, and looking forward to enjoying many more years of work. I am now using Twinkle and VandalFighter for my reversion work on RCP and CVU, and looking to the future.

Thank you for your time, and for your comments.

THE MEEK deletion

I am unable to put a 'hang on' tag on this page for speedy deletion because it no longer exists. I believe I am able to show the notability of this article under the guidelines by providing more information. Please advise.

Meetthemeek 18:02, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

If you have sources independent of the band itself that show that our inclusion guideline WP:MUSIC is met, please tell me what they are. For example, show that the band has released an album on a sufficiently large label, or reviews of the band's music that allow us to independently verify the information in the article. If you can demonstrate that the band meets our inclusion criteria, I will undelete your article. Kusma (talk) 18:55, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Aarchen reveller

Hi Kusma, thanks for tagging Image:World-youth-day-2005-reveller-aachen.jpg as GFDL-self. Yes I did take it myself. All the pics on User:Bpa are pics that I have taken, I guess I need to select the proper licenses in the future - Bala

Re:Toby Young

Hi Kusma. The issue is that Tyoung8 isn't just removing unsourced negative information (which I've since sourced), it's that he's removing things that are clearly factual (middle names, the fact that he carries the title "the Honourable", information about certain plays he's written, etc). I've reverted and sourced some facts; the Hitler comment was the only potentially libelous bit of info, but it's now sourced as well. Let me know what you think. Gdansk/Danzig

Please see [3], specially:

  1. In biographies of clearly German persons, the name should be used in the form Danzig (Gdańsk) and later Danzig exclusively
  2. In biographies of clearly Polish persons, the name should be used in the form Gdańsk (Danzig) and later Gdańsk exclusively.

Sorry, that was an oversight, I didn't mean to remove the Polish name :-) I just wanted to remove discussion of when in its history Gdańsk was Polish from this article; it should be discussed in the city's article, not in every single article about people from Gdańsk. A lot of the lame edit war seemed to be about this question of tangential relevance to Johannes Hevelius. Kusma (talk) 15:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I agree, I asked for full protection until all these things will be discussed. Happy editing :) ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 15:15, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
