Image Tagging Image:O BLAARGGAG.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:O BLAARGGAG.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 11:51, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 12:51, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

NH License Plate
[edit]Hi SheeEttin,
Did you see my latest entry on the discussion page for New Hampshire? I'm trying to find out where your license plate image came from, because right now it looks like it could be anybody's. I agree that it is a better image than the other one that kept getting put up there, but don't you think the owner of the plate should know if its image is being used? Your VandalProof Application
[edit]Dear SheeEttin,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that for security reasons, VandalProof's creator requires it's users to have made 250 edits to articles, which you have not. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

Mario archive
[edit]Hello! I notice you have archived some stuff in the Mario Talk page. However, I must point that the first archive Talk:Mario/Archive 1 used a copy/paste procedure, while you used a move procedure Talk:Mario/Archive 2. I suggest moving the archive 2 back as Talk page, then archiving with a copy/paste procedure to keep the history in the talk page and consistently keeping both archives with the same format. Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 20:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of that, so I will do so. Thanks for pointing this out. — SheeEttin {T/C} 22:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think you can ask there to have someone check that. It is not that earth shattering, mind you, but I guess it is safer to have them determine how it should be handled. -- ReyBrujo 18:37, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Your Click here to leave me a new message section link
[edit]Also, are you sure you want new messages to go to User:Marudubshinki? Your Click here to leave me a new message section is currently pointing to his talk page instead of yours. Is that how it must be, or you have forgotten to change the wikilink? -- ReyBrujo 20:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I did forget indeed. Thanks for pointing this out too--I don't ever click it myself. — SheeEttin {T/C} 22:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Edit/revert war
[edit]You seem to be having a bit of trouble. I thought you might want to inform 216.57.18.74 of the three-revert rule or report a violation thereof (here). You, of course, have also broken it, but... I think that can be ignored. (Additionally, I think they have broken one or more rules governing vandalism. I find this is very helpful.) — SheeEttin {T/C} 18:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh... I didn't know that I couldn't do that... I've reverted quite a few times, haven't I? It's just that this person doesn't understand that they're not contributing to the article, but worsening it. I keep on reverting it because detrimental edits are made. How do I get this person to stop?

Newspaper query from a wikipedian
[edit]My name is Dave Brooks - I'm a reporter with the Nashua Telegraph and a wikipedia admin user:DavidWBrooks, having been hanging around for a while. I'm looking for New Hampshire folks whose brains I could pick about this odd exercise in group knowledge, as an advance for the Wikimania conference coming to Boston next week. Can I pick your brains? If so, drop me a line (dbrooks@nashuatelegraph.com) or call me (603-594-5831) and we'll see what happens. Thanks! - David
I have added a (one sentence!) summary to the start of this article, and moved the original first paragraph to a new section called "Introduction". Let me know if you think this solves the problem you pointed out about the article being very intimidating to someone who is new to the subject. Paul Robinson (Rfc1394) 20:09, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: British vs. American grammar
[edit]That would be because they were most likely written by American editors, and others didn't want to upset the status quo just to change it. The manual of style says to use the dialect of English that the article is based around. I.e. George Bush, use American spelling; Tony Blair, use British spelling. And after that, to just stick to something to keep it uniform; like jewellery which is written predominantly in British spelling. So that's about it. The article's subject determines it's spelling. --Dane ~nya 02:19, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Illithid.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Illithid.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 16:51, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Illithid.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Illithid.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pak21 09:21, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I thought this was deleted a while ago. Oh well, it's not used anyway and similar pages don't have images uploaded. Allowing deletion. — SheeEttin {T/C} 02:17, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Just a quick comment to note that the images was being used in Illithid until yesterday; it was removed in this edit. I guess that won't affect your views too much, but I thought I should just let you know. Cheers --Pak21 07:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's back again. Will add a rationale, I guess. — SheeEttin {T/C} 01:55, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Tim_Russell.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Tim_Russell.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:40, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Nurse Ratched.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Nurse Ratched.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Fred Newman.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Fred Newman.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone.
