Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Aria work

[edit]

BTW, thanks for doing so much work on Aria (manga), including not just stuff that I'd been procrastinating on but material I don't have access to (being on the other side of the language barrier). With continued effort we may (possibly after spinning off some of the lists) be able to get the main article to GA status. I'm thinking that after the current round of adding and referencing and reformatting, we may want to put in for a peer review from someone with experience with high quality articles. —Quasirandom (talk) 04:10, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I must thanks you because i would not manage to do it without your participation & those of others participants.
I'm not good in Japanese at all but i'm very good with google and others search engine. All that required is the good keys words to get the most pertinent results & a lot of time. I must thanks also who invented the ISBN for the books, catalog number for audio CD & anime blogs for detailed informations.
What is difficult is the ephemeral nature of the web as any reference website can go down or delete relevant materials to save space (Comic Blade) or to overhaul their whole website (ADV ?).
--KrebMarkt 08:19, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, and the ones that do that tend to be those who don't allow archiving by the Wayback Machine (or have code that gets poorly archived). :-/ —Quasirandom (talk) 16:52, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll ask anyway

[edit]

You said, "Out of print on Amazon.fr, their editors are scuttling their whole lolita collection (don't ask)." I take it this is something like, they've stopped publishing anything depicting sex where a participant is under the age of consent? —Quasirandom (talk) 16:55, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems more sales failure. As they are still copies available on others shops but the publisher did not release new manga on that collection
Wrong marketing choice, wrong collection name for the wrong targeted public.KrebMarkt 17:24, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yotsuba&! review

[edit]

I recently came across (I forget where) this French review of Yotsuba&! volume 1. Is this a reliable source, for incorporating into the article's Reception section? —Quasirandom (talk) 23:08, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RS. Funny that i had it on my user page for a while. Too lazy to report on Yotsuba& discussion page.
More reviews for you :
Manga Sanctuary all in one page :)
Vol 1 on Manga News others vols are also reviews selected click on the respective cover and then the critique tab. Critique can be hotlinked by adding a #review the page url like i did for vol 1.
Extra short one from an anime paper magazine
Oh excellent. I'll copy those to the talk page. Thankee. —Quasirandom (talk) 01:03, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Operation (A)

[edit]
"If you do start Operation (A) just don't forget to contact the various projects assessment department when they exists, courtesy require so."

Which Operation (A)? The public one or the not-very-top-secret one?! I'll do my best to let people know about my proposals, certainly. As for project assessment departments, I think the stats speak for themselves that they have done, and are doing, a wonderful job. Physchim62 (talk) 12:41, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yea. While i'm not part of any assessment department, I know they are doing great stuff with limited manpower. --KrebMarkt 13:06, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative to notability

[edit]

Hello! I am working on an objective alternate to notability in my userspace. Please read User:A Nobody/Inclusion guidelines and offer any suggestions on its talk page, which I will consider for revision purposes. If you do not do so, no worries, but if you wish to help, it is appreciated. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 01:50, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nominators table

[edit]

Regarding this comment: What merge statistics are you referring to? It is rather simple to pull additional result categories (no consensus, merge, redirect, etc.), but it is significantly more complicated to identify a nominator's proposed outcome (often nominations include several, which usually are not be set-off from their nomination with convenient bold tags). I hope at some point to have results as detailed as Wikipedia:AFD 100 days (for comparison of how AfD works now vs. then), but I figured my "immediate intermediate results" were interesting in their own right. Anyway, I'll see about adding the missing result categories (though the table is already enormous); please let me know if there are any other modifications you'd like to see. – 74  08:29, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answered with an example --KrebMarkt 08:49, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that is a little outside my current focus (though I do agree it would be interesting). Checking for prior merge discussions significantly increases the difficulty of collecting the data and would likely require a different method of analysis than simple scraping. – 74  16:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of SDF-1 Macross

[edit]

SDF-1 Macross has been nominated for deletion and you were involved in a previous AfD about a different article involving the same cartoon series. You are invited to comment on the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SDF-1 Macross. Thank you.--Sloane (talk) 00:47, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man. I'm still highly irritated by this entire AFD, have you got any access to any books or magazines for sourcing? Dandy Sephy (talk) 15:06, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry i have none :( i think that Afd is really going awry with canvasing, mecha haters and others cultural bias issue. --KrebMarkt 15:15, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is a bit of a train wreck yes. My biggest problem is that we might lose two (admittedly badly written) fairly important pages because of the rest of the bulk nomination. People clearly haven't got a clue and are taking no notice of several well put (not mine obviously :p) arguments for keeping those two. Apparently no sourcing means it can't possibly exist! Dandy Sephy (talk) 16:24, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hitting you up for French reviews

[edit]

I don't suppose you'd be up for doing quick searches for French reviews of other various manga? I just noticed that Lovely Complex has been published by Delcourt and it looks like it's doing well. Not a rush job, as I'd take a while to incorporate them anyway, but any links you could provide, I'd appreciate. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:22, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another one -- have you come across any reviews for Le pays des cerisiers, known in English as Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms? (The fr.wiki article is a bit of a stub.) —Quasirandom (talk) 23:09, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Desire Climax

[edit]

Hey, thanks for looking up all those sources for Desire Climax - I did look for potential sources before I began the AFD, but I looked in English and Italian (which has a translated edition). Based on your comments there about not wanting to translate for it, I'm kind of thinking you might be a bit annoyed at me for not getting cracking on Torikaebaya? I'm having a bit of trouble getting perspective on what I've written there, like a bit of distance from the text so that I can read what I've actually written, not what I think I've written. Does that make sense? I am turning Torikaebaya and the work you translated over in my mind, and I will get on to doing more about it. :) --Malkinann (talk) 11:06, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok started it but it will take some time :( I'm not an Uber editor but i can get 'The what feels wrong in the article' and make suggestions about how to make it more accessible --KrebMarkt 19:21, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is the Prix Tam-Tam Dlire Manga?

[edit]

I don't suppose you know what this award is (and how big a deal it is)?

Without doubt the Salon du livre et de la presse de jeunesse is the biggest yearly event for children & teenagers books & others publications publishers. The event has always media coverage (TV, journal, radio, ...) Now about that prize, i personally think that its alone isn't enough to establish the notability of a manga but it good evidence of notability. That prize until 2006 was only awarded to 2 books and since 2007 diversified the numbers of sub-categories diluting de-facto the media visibility of the prize. 2008 2007 2006. Do i pass the completeness criteria. --KrebMarkt 06:47, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, that's a good summary. Thanks muchly. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:06, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assessing notability on yet-to-be-created manga/anime pages

[edit]

Would you mind helping me assess the current pages on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Japan/Anime and Manga? I'll created the pages which you deem notable after I come back from Easter camp. Extremepro (talk) 10:22, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not to be persistent, but can you pre-check the requested articles on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Japan/Anime and Manga? Thanks. Extremepro (talk) 07:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to not catching up :( I'm on it --KrebMarkt 08:50, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since you listed some of the French review websites on WT:ANIME, I realised that most of the reviews on Girl Friend (manga)'s talkpage, most of which User:NocturneNoir and I decided didn't meet WP:RS, can be used as reviews. Would you mind looking over those reviews and summarising them? Extremepro (talk) 10:54, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will give it a try, meanwhile please feel free to give me your input the refs i listed there [2] --KrebMarkt 17:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anime-Days?

[edit]

Could you please have a look at the french site Anime-Days reliability? It's got a really good article on Guin Saga, which only seems to use the wiki articles as 'further reading'... --Malkinann (talk) 22:48, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well why did i bother to start a long discussion about French RS websites ;) See [3] This site is part of the 'MATA-WEB' consortium. I thought i gave enough references to prove that it was a RS source :p This is RS because it cross-checked information between the officials websites and wikipedia to come up with the article. --KrebMarkt 06:56, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry that I didn't notice it there - I did skim over the discussion, after I found that none of them had made it onto the online sources page... Was there any particular reason for that? --Malkinann (talk) 21:34, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because i was lazy :(
Sorry, i will put them on the online RS page along the Germans RS provided by Quasirandom. --KrebMarkt 05:39, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Gryffinclaw

[edit]

I know what's his deal is, but he kept changing spellings on articles relating to Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch despite official spellings already established in official merchandise and the English-language manga and never backs up his edits. I've left him a message about him, but he insists on his own edits and always reverses my edits. I need your help or back-up on dealing with this guy. Thank you. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 07:07, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. As for what you said, ADV hasn't officially released the English dub of the anime yet, even though they have finished production for it, because TV Aichi held it from them. Another hitting up for French references

[edit]

I don't suppose you're up some time for a few more French reviews? I'm looking for ones of Un drôle de père to help fill in the notability of Usagi Drop. No rush on this one. —Quasirandom (talk) 23:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Check Usagi Drop discussion page --KrebMarkt 05:18, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! —Quasirandom (talk) 14:01, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another? This one's even less of a rush, as with a hit anime adaptation the notability is secure, but the reception could use filling in, especially since the Viz edition and so English notice won't start till next January. It's for Le Pacte des Yôkai, better known in English as Natsume's Book of Friends. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added to my to do list. Too much editing at least 50 for today. I reformatted the whole List of Kodomo no Jikan chapters from That state to one. I would be glad if you could leave some feedbacks the change i made.
PS: I got 2 volumes of Usagi Drop French edition and the quality of the releases is impressive. --KrebMarkt 21:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good job there, one that needed doing (and that I'd been avoiding). The next step is to get someone familiar with the series to edit down those overlong summaries.
And good to hear about Usagi Drop -- the clean art deserves careful production. I hope Yen Press really is taking it on, as they know how to produce a quality book. —Quasirandom (talk) 01:12, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Recon mission done.
About Usagi Drop: for comparison purpose a series like Beauty Pop is printed in 172x114 format, Yotsuba&! in 182x128 format & 210x148 for Usagi Drop. Plenty space for the clean art :) but the price is one notch higher. By the way i found some more reviews for Usagi Drop --KrebMarkt 08:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sweet. Thanks for both batches of reviews.
The Yen Press editions of Yotsuba&! is supposed to be in that middle, slightly larger trim, matching the Japanese size. More and more specialty manga, at least in the US, are getting that treatment (and not just the yaoi/yuri). —Quasirandom (talk) 16:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mangadico

[edit]

Don't spose I could trouble you for the Mangadico entries for Sailor Moon (hoping it mentions the Club Dorothee showing of the anime) and Zetsuai 1989?  ;-) --Malkinann (talk) 01:47, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done for Zetsuai 1989 see talk page. Sailor Moon would have to wait but there is no Club Dorothee mention there. I remember watching that series in Club Dorothee thought :p (up Uranus, Neptune gang). You know that Dico Manga not Manga Dico ;) --KrebMarkt 07:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers mate. I'm not entirely sure what's meant by the second bit for Zetsuai... the part that goes "barely accessed to recognition" - would "rarely available and unrecognised" be correct? I'm still interested in the Sailor Moon entry, even though it doesn't mention Club Dorothee. Also, Mediadico, my interweb dictionary of choice, has warped my brain. Dico Manga, Dico Manga, Dico Manga. I'll get there! --Malkinann (talk) 23:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Tweaked the sentence for Zetsuai 1989. The means of the not that greatly translated passage was that yaoi genre just reached recognition when that series was released. In overall that article was reinforcing the notability of that work as being referenced in a dictionary/encyclopedia + being call a major work in its genre. It doesn't need to be published in English to be notable ;) I will drop you a full plate for Sailor moon later (yours Saturday evening). --KrebMarkt 22:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Don't sell yourself short on your translating skills, it's a difficult concept to get across - that despite the genre's obscurity at the time it was written, Zetsuai is one of the key works of the genre. It's important to me that I get enough reception going to clearly show Zetsuai's importance, as it is one of the few examples of individual series I have permitted myself on the yaoi page. (I figure, why have an example unless you can say something about it?) Thank you so much for the citation - as none of Zetsuai has ever been commercially released in English, I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that you had the Dicomanga. I managed to add in the author and the coauthor to the citation on the Zetsuai page, so I hope that will be helpful to you if you want to cite authors and coauthors of entries in Dicomanga elsewhere. I'm looking forward to the Sailor Moon information. :-) --Malkinann (talk) 23:19, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Done :) It's not surprising to have a such broad covering in Dico Manga as it even features some articles by Béatrice Maréchal probably the most vetted French Manga scholar. What is not said is that the manga publishing community wanted that book created so for +1500 articles we have +900 illustrations. Yea French Manga publishers were very supportives copyright wise :)

Date delinking

[edit]

Hey KrebMarkt, are you aware of this script? It greatly simplifies the job of delinking dates, while at the same time allowing automated reformatting of them and delinking some other unnecessary stuff. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 05:29, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thankee. I knew it existed but i was toooo lazy to look for it. Is there any index referencing available scripts ? --KrebMarkt 07:01, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. There's a partial list at Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts, but other than that, you'll just have to look around and see what you can find. I'd suggest sneaking peeks at various users' monobook.js pages - mine, for instance, has a large number of scripts that I've accumulated over more than a year and a half. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 09:46, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All right, I added it for you. Some quick notes: the line starting with // is a comment - it is ignored by the browser when parsing your monobook.js file. The link in the line doesn't do anything when viewing the page, but allows tracking of usage at Special:Whatlinkshere/User:Lightmouse/monobook.js/script.js - if you don't want it in there, it's not necessary. One last note: only you and administrators can edit any files in your userspace that end in .css or .js, just so you know. Any questions? =) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:06, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moving sandbox articles to mainspace

[edit]

Hi KrebMarkt, I just wanted to let you know that you should use the "move page" tab at the top of the page when moving sandbox articles from your userspace to the mainspace (or when renaming an article in the mainspace), as this allows the article's history to be kept with it. If you simply copy and paste the contents into a new page and save, the history is lost and an administrator must perform a history merge to restore it, as I had to do with Undercurrent (manga). See also Help:Moving a page and Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves. Thanks! ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:01, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: School Days chapters

[edit]

Good merge, seeing as how we usually don't split a volume list unless it gets to 5-6 volumes or so (at least from what I've seen), especially considering the manga was an adaptation and not the source material. However, I'm a little perplexed why you contacted me on my talk page, instead of just leaving a note on the main article's talk page which you did.-- 22:03, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's your fault to be our resident expert in visual novel :p
More seriously as someone who is really involved in visual novel articles, you will be more convincing than i to prevent people to re-split the chapters list. Thanks --KrebMarkt 06:48, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... 6 volumes? My rule of thumb has been 8 for a while (since I did List of Chobits chapters; before that, I usually wouldn't consider a split until a series had at least 10 volumes), but I guess that's just me. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 19:30, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name parameter in Infobox animanga/header

[edit]

The name parameter in Infobox animanga/Header does not need to be filled in if the name of the article is the same as the title of the infobox as the template defaults its title to the article name. In general, only article names with disambiguation in them like name (manga) needs their |title= in the infobox filled in. Extremepro (talk) 13:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. There are a lot of things i don't know ;) --KrebMarkt 14:22, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please look in Manga Dico for information about Gengoroh Tagame or his works? He's an important figure in the gay manga genre (manga with gay themes, by and for men). I think he's only been published in Japanese and French. --Malkinann (talk) 02:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Added to my to do list when i will stop procrastination ;) Along the way i will give you more material for Zetsuai 1989. --KrebMarkt 20:48, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cover choices

[edit]

Hey KrebMarkt, just thought I'd let you know that, generally, scans of vol. 1 covers are preferred (otherwise, last volume is preferred over random volume X). English vs. original Japanese is a matter of debate (and has been debated to no avail), so feel free to choose whatever there. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 19:24, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It has still to be available on 230px format and better something than nothing at all. There is no miracle you start with Amazon.co.jp, then the publisher website, fellowed by scans website and finally blogs around the web. I'm not responsible for covers that can stand on a postal stamp. While i understand the reason for cover choice what i'm doing is mostly jury rigging. When i can put vol 1 cover i put vol 1 when i can't i put any good/poor substitute. If people are really not please with those covers then i'm sure they have the required skill to succeed where i failed and i will be the first one to praise there diligence & acumen.
PS: There is nothing wrong just some people should stop daydreaming that every resource is present in good quality around the web (That's not you thought) --KrebMarkt 19:49, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, no worries, just thought you'd appreciate a good-faith heads-up in the off-chance (so many hyphens! @_@ ) you weren't actually aware of the preference around here. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 20:20, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I count only dozen images that are neither First or last volume [4] :p With only one voluntary as it's a collector cover for Ubel blatt vol. 9 a French exclusivity over Japan. --KrebMarkt 20:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Out of over 90 uploads, that's not a bad rate. Keep up the good work! =D ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 21:13, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Wowee... That's a lot of stuff. o_O You might find in the yaoi, June (manga magazine) and yaoi fandom articles, we already say something that's in the book, so you don't need to translate that for me, you can just add the book's citation as a supporting citation. I was especially interested in the idea that Shonen Jump is using yaoi to bait a female audience into buying the magazines - Matt Thorn once mentioned an anecdote going around that calls the magazine "Shoujo Jump" for the same reason, but was unable to find anything sufficiently solid so that we could put it in the article. So, yay, we can do that now. :D The parts I'm especially excited about in the book are the publishers information, yaoi in France, Zetsuai (as it's not in English), the Moto Hagio interview, and the yaoi-flavouring to boost sales. I'd tend to put 'why do girls like yaoi' and 'yaoi- is it gay?' at the bottom of the priorities, as I think we cover it okish already. Thank you! :D --Malkinann (talk) 11:50, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Started with the shonen jump stuff but it will long as the writer argumentation is rather complete so i start from the start of the article. I can't do much full translation as it's too long and mind burning. Get your first piece of material with Saint Seiya's shun is yaoi here :p
I have to correct you about the interview. It's Hisako Miyoshi the vice chief-editor of Manga section in the Libre Publishing[5]. So information from an insider Japanese Publisher side.
Not Moto Hagio yet but take care i purchased the issue #269 (on shojo) of the Comics Journal so i will get some material for shojo manga article. This time in English. --KrebMarkt 14:58, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just amazed I've found not one, but two young guys (you and Extremepro) who are so willing to be open-minded and delve into the yaoi literature to help me out. You're volunteering, for Pete's sake don't feel bad about the pace - you're going well! --Malkinann (talk) 23:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm of the generations who watched Sailor Moon in France while teenagers :p
On my own way i'm fighting the systemic bias of Wikipedia applied to the anime/manga scope.
  1. It favors what sell and/or what have clusters of fans fellowing scanlations & fansubs.
  2. It doesn't censure sure but it doesn't feel obliged to cover some subjects. Legal censorship per simple omission, we can omit a lot of stuffs when we want.
  3. It favors works translated in English.
That more are less my rationals --KrebMarkt 07:57, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's also a huge bias towards more recent stuff - Osamu Tezuka and Shotaro Ishinomori, for instance, don't have hardly any articles for their various series, while Rumiko Takahashi and Natsuki Takaya have articles for all their main series and several more small-scale ones (actually, this isn't an entirely fair comparison, since both Tezuka and Ishinomori have far larger bodies of work that Takahashi or Takaya, but I'm too tired to really worry about looking for better examples =) ). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 10:30, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Too recent to be covered by scholars and too old to covered by Internet. Did you read some Jinnai's arguments on scholars covering trivial old stuff just because them have to publish? For Osamu Tezuka there is this thing in French. I'm not much interested to purchase it as it's just to focused on one person. --KrebMarkt 10:57, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, where did he post them at? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Personal taste

[edit]

I personally think that it's a matter of personal taste, not accuracy, especially when something as obscure as tankōbon is not well-known, and piping in the equivalent of bound volume makes reading the sentence flow easier, especially when not knowing what tankōbon means may create confusion on what exactly was released. In the end, this is why while it's piped as bound volume, it's linked to tankōbon to give the reader more, accurate information if they so wish to find it. I'm really not surprised Collectonian brought it up in a GAN, since I know she likes to use tankōbon as a matter of taste. In the end, I might even cite WP:ACCESS for my argument, but there's no way anyone would listen to me; this is also why the use of tankōbon in prose is so prevalent in anime/manga articles.-- 19:10, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yea. In fact i have no personal preference in those matter. Knowing how much i suck in English complex sentences writing, i'm not well qualified to take a position.
Have a drink & a cookie ;) I can feel wariness in your words. I am aware that you are the most involved editor in consolidating GA re-assessed or to be re-assessed articles in the project. Not always fun to edit with ominous feeling that you are running out of time. --KrebMarkt 19:29, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I prefer tankōbon, but I think that arises more from the whole "lyk ZOMG its japanese!!!1" thing for me. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 20:56, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hanasakeru Seishonen Main Picture

[edit]

Since you used the manga vol 1 pic for the volume list, can I use a different one for the main article? I am aiming to get this to good article status or higher :). Thanks.Yariau neko (talk) 20:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The answer is you should not. If the original work is a manga, the image for the infobox should be the cover of volume 1. That gives a semblance of harmony between the manga articles and a we are not a fanpage feel.
People are wary of the use of images because there were and still are overused be some. The use of image is limited and must have appropriate reasons for each image so it doesn't turn into a fan page gallery where every characters has one or more images. GA & FA limit to 4-5 copyrighted images as a criteria with proper Fair Use Rationale see Wikipedia:Non-free content. That doesn't mean you have to reach the limit but instead you should think images as a limited resource. It must be used the most efficiently.
A piece of advice just don't believe that more is better in contrary aim for quality. --KrebMarkt 21:36, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Duly noted. I am reaching the limits of what I can do with that article due to being a noob :(. Since I have some semblance of a skill in the Japanese language, I am currently working on translating some episode summaries in my sandbox, but that's all I can really do aside from light editing and more research. I really need someone to help me pull this article together :(.Yariau neko (talk) 09:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Better write your own summaries so people won't raise the WP:COPYVIO issue but you can still use them as a source of inspiration. You can also use your Japanese skills to get development information as i'm sure that there are interviews and/or official blog related to the series all in Japanese. --KrebMarkt 09:40, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru was published in France as Secret Sweetheart by Soleil. I found this site[8] that appears to be a review, but my French is 0% so I can't tell if its an RS or not. Manga News seems to have reviewed the first two volumes[9][10]. I couldn't seem to navigate Animeland, though it seemed like it had mention of it. A tag has been placed on File:XxxHolic vol01 Cover.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —Farix (t | c) 22:22, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Autoreviewer

[edit]

Neat, thanks for the autoreviewer! I don't see the relevance of what's been going on in the french project to what's been going on around WP:EVA of late (esp. Talk:Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime)). :( --Malkinann (talk) 01:16, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please understand that I say this in the context of about three long months of discussion with Bread Ninja and Folken - I am not Folken's keeper. --Malkinann (talk) 06:55, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yea. Both have plus and minus. All that matter is whatever they really want to reach a compromise and not impose their opinion. I just wanted to point out that Folken's way of discussing is like that regardless the discussion subject. --KrebMarkt 07:17, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it might just make things worse, you know? :/ I think I'll delete the section - it's offtopic anyway. (All items on my user talk page should be devoted to how awesome I am, oui? ;) ) Thanks for your understanding. --Malkinann (talk) 09:20, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures for yaoi

[edit]

Whoops, sorry - I'll try to remember in future! Is there any more info in your book about Color (manga)? I was able to use a little of it, but I'm just wondering if there's more. Thanks. I explained at WP:ANIME/REQUEST why I felt Hate to Love You didn't need a DRV - that's all okay, isn't it? --Malkinann (talk) 20:08, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded cover for Dark knight and a foreign love affairs. Next step 150 covers uploaded.
Color (manga) is too recent to be reviewed in the French Manga Dico. However i got 2 French RS reviews for that ones. French reviews translation isn't a priority for this one because its notability is proved.
Go ahead for Hate to Love You but leave a word about Brigid Alverson being a comics columnist in Publisher weekly and thus her blog manga reviews are RS. There are some editors sticking with Blog = not RS in a dogmatic way, so we have to spoon feed them "every single clue" unfortunately :( --KrebMarkt 22:15, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers for uploading all those pictures! And thanks for those extra reviews to Color - they'll come in handy. I was thinking more of if Homosexualité et manga : le yaoi had more material on Eiki Eiki/Taishi Zaou or Color rather than the mangadico - sorry I wasn't clear. --Malkinann (talk) 22:50, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Butting in --> Could you list all the blogs written by RS individuals at WT:ANIME so that we, as a project, can decide whether to add them onto out online resources page. Extremepro (talk) 23:29, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, mate. I've had a lash at incorporating the other French reviews too, if you'd like to take a look. --Malkinann (talk) 21:04, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the procrastination. But know that anything that is on my user talk page eventually get done and only then it's moved into archive :p --KrebMarkt 21:08, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean it like that - I was very happy that there was more information on Color in the book, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and have a lash at the other French reviews too. :) I just hope that I've not misinterpreted them. --Malkinann (talk) 11:42, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did some fix. I didn't read or glanced the book so i did with the best i had. The book on yaoi review use a plural bonuses not detailing them. In Planete BD review it's the plot that felt sometime rushed and The French Manga-news more than deploring it's frustration over the one-shot format. In the overall you did rather well knowing how many term doesn't have a easy English equivalent. So cheers :)

Evangelion

[edit]

I have taken exception to Bread Ninjas unauthorised edits to my sandbox for the albums list. I would have let it slide as I'm open to assistance, but I strongly object to random users remving 2.5k worth of data from my workspace without permission. I have left them a note on their talkpage and I will have to reconsider any work on the article once I can take a look at thebig picture (I'm on my phone, and twinkle isn't working with it today). Dandy Sephy (talk) 20:18, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the culprit in the matter so i express to you my sincerest apologizes. Slap me/trout me at your content until you calm down.
I thought some more "inputs" would have been better and unlike many Evangelion articles there is a semblance of "consensus" to do a merged list. What is still open for discussion are which singles or albums will not be merged and well we do not agree one another.
For my personal point of view, i feel that i should not involve myself furthermore in that process because the sourcing is done with the much needed informations on composer, arranger and writer, i don't feel at ease of with the "much tensions around EVA" and i should admit that a negative biased toward EVA. (sourcing was the most neutral edit i could do). --KrebMarkt 20:53, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.: You can call me a coward for leaving half way. --KrebMarkt 21:05, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
it's fine, I'd have been less bothered if they hadn't remved perfectly good content. I've got higher priority work at the moment (2 GA contenders) so I've pretty much told them to either ask or just take the data elsewhere. If any more content gets removed I'll just csd it. I'd rather not involve myself with the group anyway.Dandy Sephy (talk) 21:19, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

well maybe if i would have known you needed authorization, then yeah. but other than it's not really your fault. for now i want to ask if i can continue editing, but due to the person not liking my edits, all i can do is suggest for now.Bread Ninja (talk) 21:38, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reply Truth is i would have not been involved with EVA if Dandy Sephy didn't ask me to source the soundtracks. I don't like EVA and EVA articles "Extreme" propensity for fan/homebrew metaphysic original reflexions, speculations and the like give me "shivers". I don't think things will evolve for the better until few many setbacks during peer-review or GA review. It has to be the Hard way.

Back to the soundtracks list first lets reach an agreement on where to do it and how do it. Then decide what should be merged or not and how should the not merged CDs be mentioned in the list. --KrebMarkt 21:53, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is that what happened? I thought I just mentioned I had started something when you posted somewhere about it needing to be done. It doesn't really matter either way I guess. Someone tell me when the page has

been copied elsewhere, then I will remove the pages from my userspace. Dandy Sephy (talk) 22:02, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I will host the brawl edits. Everyone is free to join the article building in: User:KrebMarkt/List of Neon Genesis Evangelion albums just don't forget to agree discuss what to merge and how to do it.
I will remain outside the process but you can still ping me if you need guidance on soundtracks list building because there is no Manual of Style written for list of anime soundtracks only return of experience from what have been done so far. --KrebMarkt 22:22, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
@Dandy Selphy I will handle it. You can focus on your GA however you are welcome to edit that mind wreaking list. --KrebMarkt 22:22, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wait it wasn't reverted as far as i know see Pandora_Hearts#Vessalius_Dukedom and beside if you check the article edit history none of your recent edits there were reverted.
I personally won't revert your edits because you stick with the official English translation --KrebMarkt 17:18, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An idea...

[edit]

Please review this diff. Now that this has become THIS, I think a title change might better reflect that the film is in production hell and yet still best serve Wikipedia, as it is the ongoing problems that have caused the topic to meet WP:N before actual release. If or when the film is ever released, we can work toward incorporating some of the current content into Imagi_Animation_Studios#Setbacks and then return an expanded and sourced article about the film itself to a name reflecting its (then) release date... whatever that might ever be. Sensible? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will give it a thoughtful look. Thanks --KrebMarkt 07:07, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seiyus

[edit]

Hi. Given that I see you are clearly a manga./anime fan I think your comments were directed at me. Might you know I am generally an inclusionist on wikipedia. However it is very frustrating having 1100 articles on Japanese seiyus and most of them contain nothing more than a bunch of lists and trivia. If they were fleshed out with reliable sources, rather than fan blogs into articles which actually resemble encyclopedia articles I would support them. To the casual eye though it just looks like people think biographies of these people shuould just be lists, and I want to know, given the obvious huge following of manga and anime why more people are not bothering to write decent articles about these people. Otherwise if decent solid articles cannot be written about their lives and biographies then I am inclined to believe they are not notable. I believe I do have a point. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 14:48, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for also ranting today but I believe I had a point about the quality/notability impression of these articles. A massive cleanup/improvement job is needed on most of the anime/manga related articles if they are to be taken seriously as encyclopedia articles. I hope that given the big following of this topic that you will find decent editors to write proper articles rather than a one line stub and list. Regards. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 19:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you'll find any complaints with claiming most of the anime/manga articles need a lot of work - they do. However we simply don't have the manpower or resources to do full scale rewrites of anything more then a handful of articles at a time. However it should be noted that we do have 3 FA's, 63 FL's, 62 GA's and 115 B class articles to be taken seriously. Unfortunately most articles are created by people who are either unwilling to do the work, don't understand guidelines or best practices, or simply just make a start on the article and consider their work done. I think it's unfair to single out anime/manga articles when it's a wiki wide issue. Unfortunately such a (relatively) niche subject is short of editors who have the time, skills and resources to do a proper job. I also note that officially, there is nothing wrong with stubs. That said, I hope you follow your own suggested example and try and help out (if you already are then forgive me). Dandy Sephy (talk) 19:57, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yum thanks Kreb. No, there is nothing wrong with stubs Dandy, provide they contain a reference and people intend to expand them. I would actually rather a stub with a few referenced lines than huge paragraphs of unreferenced barely legible in universe fictional charcters. Given that manga-anime is not a traditional encyclopedic subject, I believe it needs to work even harder to make the articles respectable to the average reader who may be unfamiliar with the subject and may get the impresison they are not notable like I did. Manga-anime does have a big following so I hope that there are enough editors to gradually improve the articles with reliable sources and maintain a good quality. I guess its the same with any subject on here. We need many more editors who'll sit down and write decent articles. I have seen some decent work on this topic but then you click a link and it is either a one liner or the gross in universe type articles plastered will loads of cleanup tags. 62 GA articles though is commendable. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 20:49, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately it requires a lot of time just to do one article, and in the case of individuals it's extremely difficult to build solid articles for even the most notable individuals. A few have excellent coverage, but unfortunately they are exceptions. I'm working on one of those exceptions and even though I have tons of sourcing covering about 24 years, it still takes huge amounts of time to put together (and thats without a list of roles as I'm stripping out the list to focus on proper discussion of major roles with a split article for the list), and this is something I'm incredibly motivated about. It's easy for you to sit and say they need to meet such and such standard, but all you are doing is putting the work on others when we are already struggling. Please, give us a break, we aren't miracle workers, and I think it's insulting to focus on what random users have done when the project is doing it's best and you agree we do have good articles!. Dandy Sephy (talk) 20:58, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The problem, I think, is that these articles do generate a lot of traffic, often by people who have no diea how to write a good articles and that it is not a fan site and place for assembling all in universe content with no context to the real world. Given the amount of traffic, I can imagine that keeping tabs on everything and maintaining a good quality everywhere is just too much for the few decent editors like yourselves running the project. I suffer the same problems with the African project, only the articles get way less traffic. I respect that, its a shame there are not more decent editors writing articles about this subject and indeed that there appears to be a distinct lack of book credible source material to write good articles, especially about the seiyus. My biggest conern is articles like List of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's characters and Rex Goodwin. The information to the average reader appears out of context and in universe and looks like a fan site rather than encyclopedic. If I was to AFD Akiza Izinski, would you think it appropriate to keep the article? ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 21:18, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ironically you are stopping me from working on a seiyu sandbox, so if you want to continue the discussion at a later point feel free to start a thread on my talk page. However please don't ask me about specific articles, especially for franchises I have no knowledge of. The answer to your question is twofold, whats your non-cleanup justification (I can guess, but you haven't stated it), and have you spent time looking for sources or proof of notability? Dandy Sephy (talk) 21:36, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I really appreciated that discussion because i find fruitful discussion between from different projects members on "their craft" and how one can relate to the difficulties encountered by the other. I know, i'm not good at writing that kind of sentence. --KrebMarkt 22:30, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional charatcer merging

[edit]

See my latest project post on your talk page. I would rather discuss this rationally and come to an agreement on how to root out the duds and work together. I suggested this at the AFD to try to save time and conflict but all I get are unwarranted personal attacks from Farix over what was otherwise a clear effort to rationally address this problem. I am disgusted to be honest with the lack of good faith and attacks from certain people in your project. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 15:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See, the problem is that you are complaining about attacks, when you've already attacked the project as a whole several times. I don't think you can claim to be unfairly treated given your own methods recently. That said, you've at least made a start on trying to cooperate instead of telling us what we should do and leaving us to it.Dandy Sephy (talk) 16:11, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, which is why I have created a tag to place the problematic article in a category and the project can reach a consensus on what should be merged and what should be kept as a seperate article and improved at a later date. Saves wasting time opening AFDs and the central members of the Anime project such as yourself who know what is appropriate and what is not can decide and be cool about it. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 18:31, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editor Review: done

User talk

I have done an editor review for you at Wikipedia:Editor review/KrebMarkt/Archivage 1.

Perhaps you could consider doing a review of another editor? It takes a bit of time (reviews can take anywhere from about 15 minutes up to 2 hours, depending on how many contributions the editor has made, where they have contributed, etc).

The ones marked with a * are those editors who have not been reviewed yet — if you want to review one of these, make sure you remove the asterisks in the parts indicated!

If you have not done a review before, you might feel more comfortable giving a second review to an editor — this will show you an example of a review that has been done, and show you the kinds of things that can be commented on. I hope that you find the review useful. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about it.

Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 07:41, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do some research before undoing some one's edit. You're the one who's committing vandalism! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.177.242.47 (talk) 03:33, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why are those Reliable Sources? Blog & forum post are rarely considered reliable for asserting facts like anime broadcast. Second, had i not requested you to bring some sources, you would not have brought any which is clearly not acceptable. Today you add a broadcast because it's fresh in your memory but in ten years who will remember that this series indeed broadcast in the said network?

BLP discussion

[edit]

Hi KrebMarkt/Archivage 1! If there is any consensus at at all, it is that the entire discussion has become a tangled confusion, and as a result both proponents and opponents of the issues under discussion are abandoning ship. None of us want this. It is still not clear which way consensus will fall and your contributions to the discussion are invaluable. However, In an attempt to keep the policy discussion on an even track, some users have decided to start the ball rolling for clarity by creating a special workshop pages. The first of these is for the technical development of a template at WT:BLP PROD TPL in case policy is decided for it . The taskforce pages are designed keep irrelevant stuff off the policy discussion and talk page, and help a few of us to move this whole debate towards a decision of some kind or another. The pages will be linked in a way that watchers will still find their way to them. This move is not intended to influence any policy whatsoever; It is to keep the discussion pages focussed on the separate issues. Cheers. --Kudpung (talk) 04:19, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's quite okay that you've been busy with other work - the BLPs are of a higher priority to get right anyway, due to the issues associated with being a biography of a living person. Hi KrebMarkt/Archivage 1 !
