Hello Krasnoludek. (Nice username, btw). Could you add your sources, informations from reliable web sources or printed books, please? --Vejvančický (talk) 10:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Working on translating the French WP page now. It doesn't have any web sources/books listed either, so I'll look for those too. Shouldn't be hard to find. -Krasnoludek (talk) 11:10, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I know that cheese also from shops in Czech Rep. Delicious :)) Have a nice day. --Vejvančický (talk) 11:34, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clouzot

[edit]

Thanks for going over the write-up on Clouzot. I re-wrote that thing in such haste I've been a bit afraid to go over it for my atrocious spelling and grammar. Thanks! Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:50, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm sorry I only got partway through it before I had to get back to work, but I'll look over the rest of it soon. -Krasnoludek (talk) 22:37, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You did a great job! I'm thinking of nominating the article for GA status soon. Thanks for cleaning up all my quick typing as I was too busy organizing the facts to read over what I wrote! Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:41, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, after having read through the whole thing, I think it's now very close to being GA status. Well done! -Krasnoludek (talk) 06:24, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops

[edit]

Sorry about my careless revert on Lyon. Thanks for fixing. Dicklyon (talk) 20:49, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. The edit you reverted looked like slick date vandalism, which actually was the vandalism that was originally reverted. I know your edit was a well-intentioned vandalism reversion. Unfortunately that kind of vandalism is pretty successful at causing confusion. -Krasnoludek (talk) 20:54, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lenape languages

[edit]

You made a correction on Hackensack (Native Americans) with regard to Unami. Could yo set me straight on a few things? Perhaps it's simplictic divisons, but we work with the names today. Namely, where it is believed the Unami/Munsee language areas met or overlapped? What language did the Wappingers speak? Where did the Canarsie, Tappan, Haverstraw, Esopus groups fit into this? Where/Who can be collectively pre-colonial and now be named a Munsee? Etc Etc. Conflicting info confuses me. It seems that Canarsie, Raritan, Hackensack groups may have spoke a different Algonquuan from Wappeinger, Tappen, Haverstraw, though the geographic/topographic division feels so awkward in today's mindset/poltical divisions. Any tips wher this is clarified would be helpul. Thanks Djflem (talk) 20:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm sorry but I'm neither a historian nor a linguist. My edit was trying to clarify the classification levels of the language, which seems to be within a family of the same or similar name. I believe I posted on one of the relevant talk pages myself asking for clarification. The only authoritative site I know of is Ethnologue, whose entry on Unami (aka Lenape) but that is simply a linguistic classification index. I do not have access to the sources it cites. -Krasnoludek (talk) 00:35, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages should disambiguate between at least two articles and not contain any entries without articles. Your page on Génépi (disambiguation) violates both of those guidelines and is eligible for speedy deletion under criterion wp:CSD#G6. I have nominated it as such. For more information on Disambiguation pages Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts might be useful. Yoenit (talk) 14:23, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was hesitant to even create it, since the primary use for "génépi" is to refer to the plants and the liqueur, both of which had been in the same article. I am currently in the process of cleaning up the main génépi article since a user posted a lot of useful information, but overwrote past information and organization. This user had listed several other uses of "génépi" in the new lead, and at least one of them (the mountain) checks out as being real uses (whether they are notable uses is another question). So I thought the easiest way to deal with the other uses is to put them on another page, and keep the main article on the liqueur and herbs. -14:29, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
I understand why you did it, but until somebody writes an article about said mountain we should not have a disambiguation page. Disambiguation pages are used for internal navigation, not lists of all possible uses of a name. If you want to save the information that it can also refer to a mountain you could leave a note at Talk:génépi. Yoenit (talk) 14:39, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good idea, putting it on the Talk page. I didn't want the information to get lost, but on the other hand I didn't want to exert the effort to write the auxiliary articles. Cleaning up the main one is effort enough, and I'm not convinced yet the other geographical uses are noteworthy. I have no attachment to the disambig page; just saw it as a work-around. -14:50, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

More on génépi

[edit]

Thanks, Krasnoludek, for your kind words about my work on the génépi page. There was a lot there to work with already, but in some cases that meant a lot to verify as well.

I am familiar with the Basque version of the liqueur made with wormwood (Rémy Cointreau's Izarra Horia and Izarra Berdea), but learned a lot about the Valdôtain/Savoyard stuff in rewriting the article. I may end up working on the Izarra page (and even, perhaps, that on Chartreuse) although my real specialties are botany and horticulture, with a concommitant amateur's love of geography.

If I can be of help or service, please call on me!

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

[edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
