Survey

[edit]

Hi Kjtobo!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! My wikipage

[edit]

Hello, the picture that comes up on Google search beside the wikipedia is NOT my picture.

I did not link up a picture to my wikipedia as I beleive you need to have a link with the picture on it. I do not have such a link.

In in interim, can we make sure that the picture of the bald man sitting as an executive with suit and tie is removed?

I don't understand why this picture shows up besides my wikidescription when we do a search on google under my name.

Thank you for explaining,

Paul Barbeau

Mr. Barbeau, I replied over on the talk page for your article at Talk:Paul Barbeau. That image was linked by Google and not Wikipedia. I clicked the link to report it to Google as incorrect - perhaps that will help. Best wishes to you! - Karen Tobo Kjtobo (talk) 21:26, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Gtwfan52. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Brighton, Michigan, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. material regarding controversy must be referenced. If it is truly controversial, surely the newspaper has written about it. please cite that before re-adding. Thanks! Gtwfan52 (talk) 01:07, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - some editors fight off the vandal hordes, as I do repairing pages with citation errors. If I didn't - there would be a large backlog in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting and in Category:Pages with missing references list as in Category:Pages with broken reference names (more than 1500 yesterday). But it is impossible to work it alone. Do you know how to do a "Blitz" (excuse the comparision) to find willing editors to work on it. It is much more easier to repair references if you do it one hour, one day or one week ago after the errors were made instead of months and years after the error was done. Very, very difficult to find these errors.

Only with WikiBlame Search it is possible to find and repair such errors.

Thanks for the assist at water roux the other day. I noticed that this article of yours needed some help so I've gotten it back on track in mainspace. I recommend avoiding draftspace so, if you want to prepare an article before publishing it in mainspace, then it seems better to keep it in a personal sandbox. Myself, I prefer to do everything in mainspace and so keep it simple.

I see that you live in Utah. I went to Salt Lake City once, as it was the closest airport to an acquaintance who lived in a small town in Idaho. I only spent a day in SLC but found time to visit the Genealogical Library. I drove through desolate places like the Craters of the Moon which were quite memorable. Travel is not so easy now but I'd still like to go to Yellowstone some day and so may get out that way then. In the meantime, please feel free to ping me if you need help with another topic.

After WCNA 2020

[edit]

Hello, KarenJoyce -- It was good to talk with you at WikiConference North America. I wonder if you might look at this family history-related question. There are some problems with the article on Phillip Hamman. I think the list of children should be squeezed or deleted. Before I delete it, does it look useful to you? Accurate? -- econterms (talk) 04:14, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would delete down to "had thirteen children" and mark that claim unsourced. If none are notable, they belong in Bio Spore (do they have even the requisite "modicum" of coverage?) or on a genealogy site like WikiTree, Geni, or FamilySearch. KarenJoyce (talk) 15:56, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Stephen Satterfield has been accepted

[edit]
Stephen Satterfield, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!

Event coordinator granted

[edit]

After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
  • The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
  • Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 21:08, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Hi, Rachel! I think the real organizing star is Jennifer 8. Lee, so I'll ask User:Pharos how to be in touch, unless you already know. Want to move to the meetup page?
We could really use a Utahn who is more certain they can attend. A family member has another cerebral radiosurgery this month, and I'm the sole caretaker, so I could possibly have to miss out, or everything might be fine. Want to join in? It's quite possible that Jennie has this all sorted. KarenJoyce (talk) 15:56, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add a Fact survey and thank you

[edit]

Thank you for testing out the Add A Fact browser extension! This extension was developed as an experiment by the Future Audiences team at the Wikimedia Foundation to learn about new ways of contributing to Wikipedia from outside of our website/apps.

We are planning to wrap up this experiment this December, sunsetting the extension and publishing our findings on-wiki. We’d like to invite you to take part in an exit survey to tell us more about your experience of trying out the extension, and to share any ideas you have about how to support new ways of contributing to Wikipedia. The survey is anonymous (see the survey privacy statement) and should take about 10–15 minutes to complete.

You can take the Goole Forms survey here.

Kind regards, MPinchuk (WMF)
