Maxi Biewer

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Maxi Biewer, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.130.152.219 16:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you created this article regarding a U.S. local news programme. Note that there was already an article on a different TV series under this name, as clearly listed at Horizon (disambiguation). I have retitled the two articles to avoid confusion, but please take care and check the disambiguation page in future. Thank you. Fourohfour 14:41, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for reporting this user's behavior. You gave him a final POV warning after his last contribution, so I think we should assume a last bit of good faith before blocking him. If he blatantly inserts POV, don't hesitate to report him. -- lucasbfr talk 08:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I double checked his contribs and to be honest I don't feel a block would be anything else than punitive at the moment. In my opinion, his edits are not disruptive enough to warrant a block. I left him a message, I would suggest you to try to bring him on the talk pages of the article to discuss the changes (or dispute resolution if he really doesn't listen). -- lucasbfr talk 08:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Ident-newspaper.jpg

Inappropriate behaviour for would-be admin

I notice that you have been involved in a dispute at User talk:Garric. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of this user's edits (I am not seeking to defend them), your comment

To put it quite bluntly, there isn't any, and you believing that there is makes you a Chavista Communist, out of the global mainstream and unable to promote neutrality

is little more than an unfounded accusation (and borderline violation of the civility guidelines) and personal opinion presented in a somewhat self-righteous manner as part of a semi-formal dispute.

In general, you seem to wish to present yourself in a pseudo-authority "policeman" role; however, many of your comments in such cases have a tone of self-righteous zealotry and accusation which is absolutely not appropriate- particularly not for someone who wishes to be an administrator.

If you wish to be taken seriously in this role, please tone down the rhetoric and accusations and take a more professional and detached attitude. Fourohfour 12:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Re: Your recent comments.

Your recent edits to Sun Devil Television could give editors of Wikipedia the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that this is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a genuine dispute with the Community or its members, please use dispute resolution. It is understandable that you would be angry/upset about comments made about you or something you are associated with, but, as you should know, Wikipedia is not the place to issue legal threats. Please read WP:LEGAL, it should help. As of 05:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC), your legal threats will be removed in accordance with policy. A request

Hi Abiteroftruth. Could you please have a look at this here and here? These buch of dynamic IPs are creating havoc in wikipedia and are all hailing from SBC Houston, Texas. I have this email address abuse@sbcglobal.net but i am not sure if you got a simplier way to sort this problem. Thanks in advance. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 13:55, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks AoT. It is really bothering especially that the abuser went on until revealing my identity at the ANI and following me and other admins and editors, harassment even by email, etc... Thanks again. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 14:09, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:HughDownsSchool.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:HughDownsSchool.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:40, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

WP:CVU status

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F. Thank you. Delivered on behalf of user:xaosflux 01:15, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Mongol khans

Hello. I noticed that you moved articles on Mongol khans (e.g. Khutughtu Khan) around June 2007. I sought in vain for your proposal for move. Where did you make a proposal and gain consensus? --Nanshu 00:10, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

It's me who set up the previous naming format (X khan) "to bring some uniformity" (from Chinggis to Ligden). And personally, I don't like the current format because it's verbose and inconsistent with later khans like Dayan Khan. I think it's time to discuss the naming convention. But there is a problem: Where to discuss? Wikipedia talk:History standards for China-related articles or Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Mongolian)? (Welcome to sectionalism!) Maybe Talk:Yuan Dynasty is a compromise. --Nanshu 23:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for my overreaction (Talk:Seoul)

Legislative violence

I removed a large deal of content from Legislative violence relating to Taiwan. Wikipedia guidelines state that a) examples should be used to illustrate a point rather than being the bulk of the article (I think 2 major incidents does a good a job as 20 minor ones) and b) undue weight should not be given to an issue or side of an issue over others (given that Korea only has one entry and that Australia has none I think we can agree that the section on Taiwan was, by this definition, overly lengthy). Perhaps you could consider implementing some change to the original article on the Chinese wikipedia in adherence to these guidelines. Just thought I'd let you know 58.164.33.106 12:14, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

No personal attacks

Greetings. I noticed you templated Videmus Omnia to warn him not to make personal attacks. I haven't known Videmus Omnia to act that way, in my experience. Could you provide me a link of where he made a personal attack? Thanks, – Quadell (talk) (random) 00:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I noticed that you have recently uploaded some non-free images of living people (e.g. Image:Presjobim.jpg and Image:Foto_viegas.gif). Unfortunately, these sorts of images violate our first fair use criterion in that they illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could be created that provides substantially the same information. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. – Quadell (talk) (random) 04:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
(P.P.S. I see now that those uploads weren't recent; they were done back in July. My mistake. – Quadell (talk) (random) 04:36, 9 October 2007 (UTC))

My Revert on the Current Events Page

I assumed that you made a good faith edit. I just couldn't figure out what you were doing. --Elliskev 12:26, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

AIV

Colorwolf only has one edit, to his own page, today and 203 none. This doesn't fit AIV criteria. My suggestion is to rm from AIV and take to WP:SSP with as much detail as possible, with diffs, on why you think it's a sock. Rlevse 16:30, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Do you think LongPeanutButter is a sock of Colorwolf? If so, report per Rlevse above, because the user hasn't vandalized since final warning was given. I can block on proof of sock, so if you have anything conclusive, drop me a note... Dreadstar 03:29, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Presjobim.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Presjobim.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Removing Warnings

Regarding this edit, note that WP:USER states "Policy does not prohibit users from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. Deleted warnings can still be found in the page history.". Just a heads-up. Image source problem with Image:Seoige TnaG.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Seoige TnaG.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:58, 21 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 16:58, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Seoige TnaG.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Seoige TnaG.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 16:58, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kenny, I agree that this subject is not notable, but I would urge you to use more considerate language in such AfDs. Regular editors of Wikipedia will understand what you mean when you say "was, still is, and forever will be non-notable person", but it is possible that the creator of this page is someone who was close to Ms Karhohs, and does not understand the technical use of non-notable, in which case your wording could be very upsetting. How about something on the lines of "subject does not qualify for inclusion under WP:BIO"? Phil Bridger (talk) 13:11, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:ATV Old Logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 23:22, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism warning to User_talk:207.138.65.1

This is a large corporations IP. I would recommend not banning it... although there isn't much I can do to track down whoelse in the company might be pwning the wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.138.65.1 (talk) 21:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

    • I noticed that your edit history showed using an escalated template in several instances so thought you might not be aware of the multi-level template system - apologies for any offence that might have been caused. Regards Matilda talk 04:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
      • I believed that both the edit summary and the context of my previous, now refactored, note made it clear that the warnings were illustrative and not directed at you. I do remain concerned that you do not understand your warnings are in general pitched at an inapproriate level and breach WP:AGF. Of yourlast 50 edits to the User talk name space, at least 14 appear to be escalated warnings with no use of multi-level templates before hand - haven't comprehensively researched your edits (have better things to do). Your warning to this user in particular caught my eye (because I reverted to replace your warning) and I thought it over the top. Please reconsider. Note also your advice to User:LighteningKid "Removing warnings are prohibited" is not strictly correct - you perhaps need also to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines : On your own user talk page, you may remove comments from others . You are of course welcome to remove my comments too! --Matilda talk 06:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Pop music

Hey, Arbiteroftruth, I'd like to ask for a favour in your capacity as Chinese-English translator. I'm working on a complete re-write of Pop music and when I recently moved the text from my sandbox to the article, the format of the link to the Chinese-language Wikipedia was lost. I don't have Chinese fonts on my system so am unable to fix it myself, would you be as kind as to correct it for me when you have the time? You can go straight to the appropriate section here.
