Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to 1998 Copa Interamericana and Copa Interamericana. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited USA Cricket, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Atlanta Open. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice

The article 2024 Copa Interamericana has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Name and format for this proposed tournament have not been announced by either organizer or a reliable source. Potentially a hoax.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. India maps

[edit]

Hello. The India3 map which you keep on adding to articles about cricket shows the disputed areas on the country's borders in a way that specifically gives the impression that India controls them and that they are a de facto part of the country. That's untrue. That's why India is a better map - any use of India3 in this sort of context suggests that there may be the possibility that a political point is being made by its use, specifically about the border between India and Pakistan.

You need to be aware that WP:CTOP applies here - specifically because this is dealing with India's borders with Pakistan. I'll add a template in a moment to show other readers that you've now been made aware of it. By all means ask if you're unsure what it means or what the consequences are of ignoring the CTOP nature of the topic area. But essentially it means don't add India3 in contexts where the issue with the borders are not going to be explained. I'm sure that you could point at a tonne of places where India3 is being used. Please feel free to point them out to me. But it doesn't stop their use being contrary to CTOP. Blue Square Thing (talk) 06:45, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IPL is an league held in India. I added 'India2'to show the disputed areas. Moreover, 2023 Cricket World Cup has 'India2' after much consensus. I would request you to open a discussion on the talk page over making a decision on your own. Kiilvish (talk) 06:48, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You added India3 at this edit to the WPL page a few hours ago. You've also previously added India3 to a number of other pages - specifically changing it from India (for example, in late November). You did change the IPL one to India2 and I generally think that that does show things more clearly - so am very happy to use that one in this sort of context. Interestingly India2 was never agreed upon at the CWC page - my reversion to the previous version of the map on 13 October reverted it to India and I don't believe any consensus to change it to India2 was agreed. Which is academically interesting only - in contexts where the country being displayed is India I don't see any obvious problem with using India2, although I would listen to any concerns and err on the side of India if challenged on this.
It's really easy to add the wrong one though and it may just have been the slip of a finger on the WPL page. It's best that you're aware of the CTOP stuff anyway and have the template so that everyone knows that you've been alerted. Blue Square Thing (talk) 07:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, using India2 in certain contexts is more clear. Thanks for the heads up! Kiilvish (talk) 07:17, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Speedy deletion nomination of Vels FC

Hello, Kiilvish,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Demt1298, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Vels FC, for deletion, because it is a very short article that doesn't provide readers with enough context to determine who or what the subject is.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Demt1298}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
