Hi, thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what source I can use for this, as it's observable on the website itself. If you have any tips how I can make this a legitimate entry I would definitely appreciate it. Cheers, ~Fohan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fohan (talk • contribs) 03:29, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

- I will say I'm slightly suspicious because you replace an infobox with "tacobox", but nonetheless you must be logged-in to create an account to upload files. This is an extremly easy process which I'd recommend for several reasons, uploading files is one of them. You can go here to create an account, then after that you go here to upload a file. Hey I got a notification that you patrolled my profile Dormantos. What does that mean? I cannot see any changes anywhere. Thanks. Ping @Kharkiv07 Dormantos (talk) 05:22, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Dormantos: When a new page is created it needs to be patrolled, which is entered into a log to tell new page patrollers that a page has already been examined and there's nothing there that is against policy. It doesn't actually change the page, it's just noted in a log so people don't keep coming back again and again to check the page. Kharkiv07Talk 05:25, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Addition to page about Dickie Kerr
Hello - Chalk it up to my confusion, but... There is a paragraph about Mr. Kerr mentoring Stan Musial. My added line (after the note about the house), is "Mr. Musial named his son, Dick, after Mr. Kerr." I thought I had followed the correct procedure about adding authentication, but obviously not. My source is a friendship with Dick from high school here in St. Louis (Christian Brothers College High School) from 1954 through this date; we were both in the Class of 1958. Dick's real name is, of course, Richard Stanley. Dick and I stay in touch several times per week via email; he lives in Port St. Lucie, FL, and I am still in St. Louis. I of course met Mr. and Mrs. Musial on many occasions way back when. My real name is Thomas F. Maher - "Frank Schario" is the name I use for some online correspondence. Frank Schario (talk) 01:37, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello! Thanks for contributing! Unfortunately, Wikipedia has a policy against original research, you can find that here. You need to provide a source for your change. While I hardly doubt that you knew him and got this information firsthand, we can't allow original research because if we did people would put anything here claiming that they knew somebody. I'd be more than happy, and I intend to, look into this more and try to find a source myself, and I'd be more than happy to help you! Just drop me a message here, and I'll look into it in the meantime. Thanks and sorry for the hassle! Kharkiv07Talk 01:47, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Question at RfA
What was the meaning of this question: "Does anybody know where the close templates are for AfD? I can't seem to track them down." inserted at the discussion section of somebody's RfA? (Please answer right here, I'll watchlist it.) Kraxler (talk) 14:59, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- I was just referring to the closure templates, I'm pretty sure RfA has its own, right? Kharkiv07Talk 15:17, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- So you meant the closure template for RfA, and not Afd? Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out, eventually, where they are. All I can say now is that it's not that easy to use them. Good luck. Kraxler (talk) 16:08, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

RPP stats
I saw your comment on RfA about "only 8 requests to RPP" - just out of interest, is there a script to generate statistics? I seem to be using RPP more this year than ever - I've got no idea why IP users are so keen to rename one of Haim (band) to "slab", but they are. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:17, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Ritchie333: Unfortunately no, I did it the old fashion way, went to the user's contribs, and limited it to edits in the Wikipedia namespace. They didn't have a ton so it didn't take long to count. Though if you find one I'd love to hear about it, since they don't keep a full archive it's extremely hard. Kharkiv07Talk 13:25, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Clearly it should be named slab though, going to move it right now.
- If I had time (hah!) I could probably write something using Pywikibot (would make a change from having a nostalgic rummage through the 30 year old disassembly for Technician Ted's loading system on the ZX Spectrum ... don't ask). The hard part is matching up requests to actions - on at least one occasion I added to RPP then reverted as I discovered completely rewriting the paragraph under dispute solved the problem once and for all. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:55, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
@Ritchie333: I suppose there's always this. Kharkiv07Talk 01:44, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

BNP Membership
Sorry, page 31 is a type, I have to assume it's page 13.
My point is that the last filed membership stats with the electoral commission is relevant, quite relevant in the absence of any other evidence.
The figure of 500 is based on, is from an organisation that campaigns against the BNP - they can hardly be trusted as some kind of independent source for statistics about the BNP. They don't even say why they come to that number.
What figure do you think should go up on the wikipedia page, if the BNP files around 4000 members with the electoral commission for December 2014?
If Hope Note Hate says we have 150 members, of 20 members, will you put that up? Remember they haven't said WHY we have 500 members, they don't have access to any data - nothing.
At the end of the day, the BNP is to only organisation with access to the membership database. Hope Note Hate, quite simply don't have a clue how many members we have.
If you ask them for stats, you might as well ask your cat, or that bloke down the local pup who thinks he knows everything and everyone.
Many Thanks,

Calling all WikiProject X members!
Hello fellow member! WikiProject X needs your help!
We studied the various needs that WikiProjects have, and have come up with some ideas for our first round of WikiProject tool development. These include:
- An automatically updated WikiProject directory that surfaces WikiProject-related metrics and automatically generates a list of active participants and potential members;
- A lightweight, optional alternative to WikiProject banners, featuring an option to quickly send a message to the named WikiProjects;
- A tool that bootstraps WikiProjects; and
- A worklist generation script for WikiProjects
We are now looking for volunteer coders to work on these projects. If you are interested in developing these tools, or if you would to volunteer for other tasks, check out our new volunteers portal. Thank you for your help!

A message from Chrisdbarnett - BNP Membership Stats
Hi,
Any progress?
I've noticed this comment on BNP talk page:
"One thing to bear in mind: the figures published by the Electoral Commission are simply those given by the parties in thie annual reports. The EC does not investigate their veracity and, as far as I know, has no mandate to do so nor facilities for such a check. As such, the figures are the parties' figures and are as suspect as anything else from them, regardless of which party. Emeraude (talk) 12:58, 11 April 2015 (UTC)"
This of course is true, but the membership stats from any political party is more reliable than anything else - because ONLY the political party in question has their hands on their own membership data.
At the end of the day, there is only 1 political party who's wiki page has been edited to say that it has 1/8th of it's claimed membership.
The Labour party says how many members it has - and that is what is published on their wiki page. Every other party's claims of membership has been believed, except for a handful, that the researcher claims as "fascist". The researcher made a load of other nasty remarks, exposing their political bias.
Yet ours is marked down by 1/8th of the claimed size, because a campaign pressure group simply says that with have 500, with no actual proper source for the data.
We are in an election season in the UK, a time when many voters research parties and many people will be misinformed that our membership has collapsed when it hasn't. I'm not being dramatic, but that is outrageous, it's unfair and it does a disservice to wikipedia.
All we ask is that we are treated impartially and fairly here.
Best Regards, Chris Barnett. IT Coordinator

Hi Karkiv07 - Anything going on? What is happening? Thanks. Chrisdbarnett (talk) 12:02, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Chrisdbarnett: Hi. I can't nail down a reliable source, so unless you can find one I think I'm going to remove the figures all together. Kharkiv07Talk 03:49, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well. I found a source but I don't think you'll like it. The Independent gave the same number. Unless you can find a better one, then I'm afraid it'll have to stay that way. Kharkiv07Talk 04:00, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Karkiv07:
First off the source has been changed from the Economist to the Independent.
Is there a record of the discussion with other editors as to how and why such a change came about?
Many thanks.
Chrisdbarnett (talk) 10:23, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Also, I still challenge the reliability of "The Independent". If you visit the url in question, when they mention the BNP has 500 members, they are simply quoting another one of their articles as the their source...fine...so if we follow that back...that article claims it's source for the BNP having 500 members...is OpenDemocracy.net - but it's just the landing page of opendemocracy.net.
So..just to be clear to avoid any misunderstandings or doubt. Here is the url trail:
"The far-right party's membership has also plummeted, currently standing around an estimated 500, compared to 4,220 paid-up members at the end of 2013." - 'membership has also plummeted' - is linking to this Independent article:
"The openDemocracy website, which compiled the figures, said the Greens, whose membership has doubled since September, are growing “amazingly fast”." - 'openDemocracy' is linking to the home page of opendemocracy.net
NOTHING - there is NOTHING which shows how a figure of 500 has been arrived at. It's just the home page of opendemocracy.net
The Independent admit they are NOT the source. So how can they be trusted over data from the electoral commission?
The figures we give to the electoral commission is part of our submitted accounts to the electoral commission. As such, if any data that we provide to the commission as part of our accounts, has been proven false as in fraudulently false, our treasurer would be committing a criminal offence. Not to mention that the figures, is signed off by an independent auditor.
That's why we bother to give membership figures, broken down by membership type long with revenues to the electoral commission. It's a matter of public record beyond dispute.
I still cannot believe that a hostile newspaper, that admits it is NOT the source, is taken seriously.

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 3
Greetings! For this month's issue...
We have demos!
After a lengthy research and design process, we decided for WikiProject X to focus on two things:
- A WikiProject workflow that focuses on action items: discussions you can participate in and tasks you can perform to improve the encyclopedia; and
- An automatically updating WikiProject directory that gives you lists of users participating in the WikiProject and editing in that subject area.
We have a live demonstration of the new WikiProject workflow at WikiProject Women in Technology, a brand new WikiProject that was set up as an adjunct to a related edit-a-thon in Washington, DC. The goal is to surface action items for editors, and we intend on doing that through automatically updated working lists. We are looking into using SuggestBot to generate lists of outstanding tasks, and we are looking into additional options for automatic worklist generation. This takes the burden off of WikiProject editors to generate these worklists, though there is also a "requests" section for Wikipedians to make individual requests. (As of writing, these automated lists are not yet live, so you will see a blank space under "edit articles" on the demo WikiProject. Sorry about that!) I invite you to check out the WikiProject and leave feedback on WikiProject X's talk page.
Once the demo is sufficiently developed, we will be working on a limited deployment on our pilot WikiProjects. We have selected five for the first round of testing based on the highest potential for impact and will scale up from there.
While a re-designed WikiProject experience is much needed, that alone isn't enough. A WikiProject isn't any good if people have no way of discovering it. This is why we are also developing an automatically updated WikiProject directory. This directory will surface project-related metrics, including a count of active WikiProject participants and of active editors in that project's subject area. The purpose of these metrics is to highlight how active the WikiProject is at the given point of time, but also to highlight that project's potential for success. The directory is not yet live but there is a demonstration featuring a sampling of WikiProjects.
Each directory entry will link to a WikiProject description page which automatically list the active WikiProject participants and subject-area article editors. This allows Wikipedians to find each other based on the areas they are interested in, and this information can be used to revive a WikiProject, start a new one, or even for some other purpose. These description pages are not online yet, but they will use this template, if you want to get a feel of what they will look like.
We need volunteers!
WikiProject X is a huge undertaking, and we need volunteers to support our efforts, including testers and coders. Check out our volunteer portal and see what you can do to help us!
As an aside...
Wouldn't it be cool if lists of requested articles could not only be integrated directly with WikiProjects, but also shared between WikiProjects? Well, we got the crazy idea of having experimental software feature Flow deployed (on a totally experimental basis) on the new Article Request Workshop, which seeks to be a place where editors can "workshop" article ideas before they get created. It uses Flow because Flow allows, essentially, section-level categorization, and in the future will allow "sections" (known as "topics" within Flow) to be included across different pages. What this means is that you have a recommendation for a new article tagged by multiple WikiProjects, allowing for the recommendation to appear on lists for each WikiProject. This will facilitate inter-WikiProject collaboration and will help to reduce duplicated work. The Article Request Workshop is not entirely ready yet due to some bugs with Flow, but we hope to integrate it into our pilot WikiProjects at some point.

Hi .... I am new to Wikipedia. I have a newspaper called Freddy Plus here in Fredericton, which has been published since May of 2011. I see that I'm not doing things correctly! I made some changes to the listing "Freddy Plus" to make it not conflicting (COI?). I basically just want to list Freddy Plus as being a physical paper in the real world. Thanks! - @Durhamwilly: Hello! Sorry for the late reply! The page is good in its current state, when I put a PROD on it it seemed promotional. Thanks for your contributions, happy editing! Kharkiv07Talk 13:32, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

- Hey! Welcome to Wikipedia! First I highly recommend that you create an account, it'll give you access to tons of new abilities, things like making pages. You can go here to make one. But, account or not, I'd recommend simply finding things you like, and making them better! Pick an article, do some research, and add to it! Really there's so much that you can do, if you want to help fight vandalism, write articles, or copyediting. Just find what you like to do, and ask if you need any help! Happy editing!
