[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Cher. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not remove "dead link" notations from sources. This prevents regular editors from determining what sources need to be replaced. Wildhartlivie (talk) 09:23, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Your uploads
[edit]Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! STBotI (talk) 18:59, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Cher lists
[edit]Hello, and thanks for contacting me. I wasn't sure exactly how you wanted me to review the article, so I'll point out some issues I noticed here. I reworded the lead for the concert tour list as its common practice now to not begin lists with "This is a list...". If your ultimate goal is to get these to featured list status, then the lead and history sections will need to be expanded for this list. Keep looking for sources, perhaps older newspaper articles that cover the tours to find additional details to add. For the filmography, the lead will also need to be expanded, and additional sources are needed for "Film roles associated with Cher". In addition, the "Music from motion pictures" table needs to be sorted so that the older songs are listed first, just like the other tables. The Internet Movie Database can't be used as a source, but you can list it as an external link. Try and replace all IMDB links with new sources. If your goal is FL, then have editors who also work on Cher articles check them over for accuracy, look to other similar FLs, and start a peer review. Hopefully this is helpful, and if you have additional questions or need help, let me know. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talk • contrib) 17:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Cher noms
[edit]Hi, thank you for contributing to topics relating to Cher. I saw you nominated several Cher album articles for good article status, but I wanted to tell you that I'm concerned with the sources cherscholar.com and homepages.ihug.com.au because I'm not sure how they fulfil Wikipedia:Reliable sources. What's the rationale for them being included as reliable sources? Best wishes Hekerui (talk) 18:37, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Cher articles at Good Article nominations
[edit]Hi there, I have tagged the Cher articles you have put up at GAN for review. I intended to 'quickfail' most of them, but I thought I should drop by here first, because I was not sure how familiar you are with the processes etc at Good Article Nomination. I saw the previous post from Hekerui, and s/he raises an important issue. Take a look at Wikipedia:Good article criteria. There are several criteria that your Cher album articles are tending not to meet. The main ones are:
- 1) "the prose is clear and the spelling and grammar are correct" These Cher album articles tend to have prose problems. I encourage you to approach some other editors you find working on Cher-related topics, and invite them to help you with the prose - get them to copyedit the album articles you've worked on.
- 2) "it provides in-line citations from reliable sources for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons". I have only reviewed one article in detail so far, but there were significant omissions in terms of citations for facts and quotes in the article.
- 3) "reliable sources" - please check out the guideline on reliable sources. This is going to be crucial for you if you are going to get any of these articles promoted. Most of the sources you are using look like they do not meet these standards - they are web pges produced by individuals or groups of fans and are not peer-reviewed; or they are official fan sites. These won't in general qualify as reliable sources. There are sites you have used that are reliable: like the Canadian archives. Also, there are a lot of published books and magazine articles about Cher and her career - use these.
- 4)"it addresses the main aspects of the topic". First off, I want to say thank you for all these new articles - they have added a lot of information about a major popular artist of the late 20th century; information that simply wasn't here before you got to work, so that is great. To be promoted to GA, they are going to need more detail in general, on tracks, on production, and on critical reception, and I encourage you to create sections on each major topic. That said, a lot more detail isn't needed. But they are likely to be too brief at present to rate as GA.
Of the four poiints above, the first three are crucial - the fourth is a judgement call, and other editors may take a different view to me. I have tagged all the Cher album articles at GAN saying I will review them. I have reviewed the first - Foxy Lady - and put it on hold. See my comments there for a general idea of the issues. Some of the others have more serious problems than Foxy Lady and I would normally 'quickfail' them because of serious referencing problems. I will leave it for a few days while you work out what you want to do. You might like to withdraw them for now and work on them, then re-nominate; or you might like to leave them and quickly try to improve them, maybe with the help of other editors, and come back to me next week. Let me know what you think. Regards. hamiltonstone (talk) 12:20, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again. After hearing of your plight, I left a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rock music about your Cher articles, in hope that one or more editors might come to your aid. It doesn't look like they have unfortunately. I must give you credit for achieving a lot in your second language and with limited materials. You've done well. However, I don't think any of the articles will pass at GA as they are, for the reasons outlined above. Can I suggest you withdraw them at present? That would involve deleting each one from the list at WP:GAN, along with my review tag, and in the edit summary window, typing "withdrawing (article name)". Leave "Foxy Lady" there for now - i need to work out how todeal with that one now the review has been partly written. Please do keep improving the articles, and keep an eye out for other editors who you could ask if they would help out. I would encourage you to split the album articles up into sections as suggested in the Foxy Lady review. I know you have some sections now, I'm suggesting that you change to the sorts of sections more commonly used in album articles - background, tracks, singles / hits, critical reception / impact on career. Regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 03:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
AMANDA LEAR
[edit]Hello, thanks for improving Amanda Lear discography :-) According to me, Back in Your Arms is not a compilation - all songs were re-recorded, they contain new vocals, and only 3 or 4 previously known tracks were added. Amanda herself claims Brief Encounters is her 15th album. Yes, in fact it is, but only with Back in Your Arms. Please give me some feedback what do you think about it. 1000MHz (talk) 09:35, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok,I think that the album is a compilation because it contains songs previous recorded for others olds albums, with two remix and one unreleased song. According with Lear Brief Encounters is her 15th album (you got the cit?) but she also released the 1985 EP "A L" and the reissue version of Heart, "Tendance" with two new songs. However, can you see the Brief Encounters page and correct all my grammar errors? P.S. Why you have delete the Canadian album chart? Kekkomereq4 (talk) 21:24, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
I deleted it, because there was no info about peak positions in Canada in that cited web. I'll check Brief Encounters soon. 1000MHz (talk) 04:50, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:If I Could Turn Back Time - 2001 vinyl remix.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:If I Could Turn Back Time - 2001 vinyl remix.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 03:15, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Edit warring on List of films considered the worst
[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of films considered the worst. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. In particular the three-revert rule states that making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording and content that gains consensus among editors. If unsuccessful, then do not edit war even if you believe you are right. Post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. Image copyright problem with File:Cher-66.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Cher-66.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Re: Help?
[edit]I'll swing in as soon as I can to add my two cents. If you think it's the same user using multiple accounts, however, you should file for a sockpuppet investigation. As per WP:SOCK, a user is generally only allowed one account. And if you're right and this is one user using these three accounts, chances are he/she has even more accounts that we don't know about. I've never filed a sockpuppet investigation, so I'm not really sure how it all works, but I'd strongly encourage you to take a look at it. — Hunter Kahn 00:21, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- I see you started an investigation. I just weighed in with my two cents there. However, I see that IamTorgo hasn't been notified of the investigation. I think it's only fair to let him (and the other accounts alleged to be his socks) know it's going on so he/they has/have a chance to defend himself. — Hunter Kahn 13:59, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Stinkers
[edit]Good news, a proposed deletion may be removed if an editor has any legitimate reason for declining it. the reason for the PROD was no refs. you have provided refs. You may now safely remove the PROD notice at the top of the page, and include in your edit summary the reason: "i added refs, and believe this award to be notable" or words to that effect. Then, you, or me, or anyone may WP:AFD the article, where a discussion will occur before action is taken. I think this is notable, but you have done enough to avoid a PRODDED deletion, at least. good work.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:23, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
