Gonzaga College SJ
[edit]The recent removal of my additions to the Notable Alumni section are unclear as to their reason and mistaken. Ian Featherstone is a successful trainer and part time Jockey with Goffs stables, Naas, Co. Kildare. Killian O'Toole is a professional gambler as of 5 years and is involved in the creation of odds and prices for Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. William Kavanagh SJ is a new priest serving his first term in Calcutta helping the poor. Finally Patrick Lynch is a journalist and editor for the Economic section in the national newspaper, The Irish Times. Thank you for your repeated service and the reinstatement of these Alumni is appreciated. Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Plynch90 (talk • contribs) 23:09, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Gonzaga College
[edit]Hi there, just looking for some advice. There are a number of users (who I believe are the same person) who are both blatantly vandalising Gonzaga College, and making dubious additions to the Notable Alumni section. I don't want to fall foul of the 3RR here because although the additions are odd and unlikely, they can't really be classified as blatant vandalism. Any suggestions? Thanks! Wexcan (talk) 23:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
You may want to look at your actions on this one again. Unless I'm wildly mistaken, the creator of an article blanking the page can be construed as a request for speedy deletion under WP:CSD G7. At the very least I think giving him a warning and telling him to provide an informative edit summary when he had already done so is a case of biting the newbie. Sockpuppetry
[edit]Hi. :) If I've done this one wrong (User talk:Sedlam) please help me fix it. As I mentioned at ANI (where I went seeking advice), I've had no experience to speak of with sock puppets and none with check-user. Since I advised the complaining editor how to proceed, I thought it incumbent on me to follow up, based on that statement on checkuser that "In most cases, any block or other action based on the outcome will not be taken by the checkuser-people or the clerks. Instead, you will have to do this yourself." --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:39, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'm more than happy to stay hands off of sock puppetry in most cases. :D I've got quite enough doing at WP:CSD and WP:BLP. I'll keep this in mind for the future. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:47, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you are tagging a confirmed account, it might be better to use

so it links to the appropriate case subpage. Just a heads up. Spebi 00:58, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Why is Griot's block indefinite?
[edit]Ok, so there's CU evidence that he's been sockpuppeting, but why the indefinite block? On the sockpuppet accounts, sure, but on his main account? He's a longstanding Wikipedia editor, and the combined total of sockpuppet activity isn't bad enough to justify an indef, as I see it... Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 01:02, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I would prefer to discuss this with you in more detail first, but I am strongly inclined to lower Griot's block to a week sometime tomorrow morning. If you object, please contact me on ANI or my talk page or here. Thanks. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 02:49, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Could I also ask why you redirected Griot's talk page? He's entitled to post an unblock request there if he wishes, and the redirect might interfere. --Akhilleus (talk) 05:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't want to sound overly critical, but this action in my view showed tremendously bad faith given the size of the offence we're looking at - the sockpuppet user and talk page was completely uncalled for, we don't do that even to some of our worst so I don't see why we should start doing it with someone with a generally good edit history who seems to have a single offence on the file. Note I'm completely uninvolved in the disputes which led to this, but saw it at AN/I and was just blown away. I reblocked for a week per the discussion above and at AN/I. Charles 23:51, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Would you be initiating it or would I? Either way, I can weigh in. Charles 00:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think the just attention would be received if you initiated it and I followed in with my comments, explaining the situation, etc. Charles 00:04, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, Keilana, I have commented at your ANI report and expanded a little bit on the time line and my experiences. I am anticipating (and hoping) that any intervening parties ask some clarifying questions as it is the best way to address or present the most important points in the whole volume of the situation. Too long of an initial post by me might have been overwhelming. Charles 02:21, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
It seems there is very little comment at AN/I. Does that mean that a block cannot be issued? Literally, as I was posting at AN/I, the users were reverting changes to articles. A third party added a brief comment to the discussion but that has been all. Charles 20:19, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

In regard to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave and Rich Christiano, I would recommend against making "procedural" AfD nominations if you believe the article is not a speedy deletion candidate but you have no opinion as to whether it should be kept or deleted. It's best to let someone who really wants the article deleted submit the AfD nomination instead. Otherwise, we could have an AfD nomination outstanding in which nobody participating in the discussion really wants the article to be deleted. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 07:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

I seem to have inadvertently stirred up this anthill three weeks ago, and am distressed at the rancor that has resulted. I cannot figure out if it is substantive or just personal. I got a nice apology from Groupthink on my talk page (for newbie biting) a week ago, which I appreciated, and it appears all parties are dedicated to improving the article. So I had hoped we were over the worst, but it ain't so, it seems. There's no big rush -- if it takes three months to get a really fine article, that is OK with me. But I'd hope everyone would feel OK about it. Anyhow, any suggestions (or criticisms) to help the process would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill Wwheaton (talk) 03:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Page blanked by author
[edit]Though a page blanking is usually vandalism and needs to be reverted, it's worth looking first at the history, because sometimes, as with T3 (The Think Tank) just now, the author has blanked his own page as a request for deletion (I had tagged it as spam and pointed him to the Business' FAQ). Then it's rather hard for him to be accused of vandalism - the thing to do is to put a {{db-author}} tag on, which requests a speedy G7 "Author requests deletion or has blanked the page". Apologies if I'm telling you things you know already - I've told this author not to worry. Regards JohnCD (talk) 19:16, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't understand your deletion of the history I submitted for the band Down. Although the information may not seem important to you, it was grammatically correct, abided by wikipedia editing rules and most importantly, chronicals their underground legendary status. Their early tape trading success, although not known of by new fans, is the reason they were given a record deal as at that particular time no major label was interested in a metal supergroup. The relevance of this is also important considering Down's huge cult status within the metal community and their impact, which was signified by Metal Hammer's voting their ablum Down III as the 2nd best album of 2007 (behind Megadeth's 1st studio release in 3years). Is it posible for you to undelete or rewrite what you deleted?

- The site is for photos relating to the Penzance area, which as far as I can see is related to pretty much all the articles he added it to, with the exception of the Pirates one. Red Dog mine
[edit]Hi -
I'm new to wikipedia, so bear with me.
You reverted a series of edits by me to the Red Dog mine article. In doing so you removed references scattered around the article and re-instated spelling errors scattered around the article.
Why?
Can I guess that it was only the latest edit that you wished to revert: removing the references and reinstating the spelling errors was a mistake on your part?
Why/how did you do the reversion within literally seconds of my posting the latest edit? Why did you do the reversion at all? Is it inappropriate to carefully and in a balanced (and well-referenced) manner address a facet of a subject that is: 1)a significant aspect of the subject 2)of particular interest to many/most people who are interested in the subject 3)widely misreported elsewhere on the web?

Troll usurping YOUR Identity as an admin
[edit]Hi, there's a troll who's just usurped your signature in my talk page in order to harrass me and scare me.see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AShadowking&diff=191881624&oldid=191879949
As a matter of fact,I've been deleting his edits in the article Classic metal because he's proven to be a permanently banned user sock puppet. So he's harrassing me today and wants to scare/impress me with the rule of the 3 reversed edits, by usurping your signature he's found on my talk page.
I know he is a permanently banned user because you guys recently proved his IP range to be those of a banned user: remember this case: Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Mark7532222
This guy has been trashing the classic metal page and my user page for months...The guy is harrasing and blackmailing me: He wants me to add bands in the article otherwise he gives me hell...And I refuse this blackmail. So he's giving me hell.
Please can you do something about it. After several months of hell, vadalism, harrassing, trolling in the classic metal page and in my user page, I'm really tired of his attacks and I feel helpless. I don't know what to do anymore...Frédérick Duhautpas (talk) 18:51, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
YOU'RE the one that said you would add the bands if I stop.[7] You didn't, so I decided to add them and you kept reverting it.

- Yes I did say that but in response to your original blackmail, but you didn't stop anyway (here's the proof: your today's trolling activity) and you kept on blackmailing meFrédérick Duhautpas (talk) 20:08, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've blocked this IP for 3 months. — Rlevse • Talk • 19:31, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks you very much, but note that this IP is the one of a permanently banned user with countless sockpuppets. I'm afraid he will come back with some other IP with similar rangeFrédérick Duhautpas (talk) 20:08, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- I know, I'm looking into a range block. — Rlevse • Talk • 23:24, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

It's a dynamic IP range, so can only block each one or revert, block, ignore. — Rlevse • Talk • 23:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- As expected the troll has come back today on the classic metal article. Thanks for the advice anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frédérick Duhautpas (talk • contribs) 17:59, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'd just revert, block, ignore; if I see any I'll block for awhile. Keilana|Parlez ici 23:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Re:RfA
[edit]You got to me before I could even give you one of the generic thanks-cards! Ah well, I guess I'll go reap the full non-existent rewards of this non-existent cabal. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Request for Admin Coaching
[edit]I requested admin coaching and I noticed you were up for one more student. Would you mind being my coach? scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 01:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
- Eh, I'm not sure how to use this template. I'd imagine it'd get quite cluttered if I left this one someone's page every time I commented back to them on my talk page. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 01:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Ha Ha but seriously
[edit]You have been mentioned (not by me) on AN/I for your Pointy revert of the Rouge Admins redlink. I'd like to point out i think its taking the p*** to the max considering how heated the CfD was. (Hypnosadist) 02:58, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- My rougeness knows no bounds. OK maybe some bounds, but not that. Keilana|Parlez ici 03:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

SierraSil
[edit]Hi, I've edited my draft of the SierraSil article in my sandbox. Care to take a look? I've taken care to avoid making claims of any kind, certainly not without citations. I'd like to push this live and see what kind of response it gets from the community. Thanks again for your help (btw, I don't work for SierraSil, but just believe in it, as do legions of others like me). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanjpf (talk • contribs) 21:48, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Can this IP be blocked again? They vandaled the Pearl Harbor page again after their 24 hour block expired. ArcAngel (talk) 15:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
This issue began February 2, and we haven't received any formal argument from one party since Mediation was requested on February 4, about two weeks ago. This seems a bit slow, even by Wikipedia's standards. Not sure of where the process should go from here or when. PHARMBOY (TALK) 16:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Sun tanning 3O
[edit]Keilana, thanks for taking this Mediation request. I am the other editor (besides Pharmboy, who started the RfM) that has disagreed with Dandelion regarding the nude/topless images. I don't know what level you require or want my input (or how appropriate it would be since the disagreement started between the other two). If you need anything from me I would be glad to help. Please let me know what you need from me. Thanks. Padillah (talk) 13:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
