Hello, Kehli.west, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Amerson

[edit]

I know you're just getting started here, but you may want to find another article for a city park to use as a guide. This could help in many ways. Did you find any other students to assist? Again, this would also be a good idea. Let me know if I can help. —Grlucas (talk) 15:35, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Grlucas: Thank you for the feedback. So just to confirm, all the links I provided were not good or was there one that in particular that was not acceptable? Also, I have not gotten with any of my classmates because I am still in the process of drafting.Kehli.west (talk) 01:54, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: The one link I see is fine, though it's not cited correctly. There should be better ones from the local paper. You may need to go to the library to find them. —Grlucas (talk) 13:39, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Citation and Copyedit

[edit]

Did you do these assignments? I saw a label for your copyedit, but you just added an unnecessary pronoun. —Grlucas (talk) 15:37, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Grlucas: Yes sir. I added a citation to my sandbox. I thought the exercise on the training site was for practice and I wanted to be comfortable with adding a citation before making a serious change to another article. I also did the one that was guided about the crab. I'm sorry I must've misread the instructions. I also worked on adding citations on the draft page of the article I am starting. They simply said "Add a citaton" and "copyedit an article". The instructions for the copyedit said that "You don’t need to contribute new information to the article." I apologize if my edit was not suitable. I just completed what the exercise noted to do. I can complete something more if needed.Kehli.west (talk) 02:05, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: Please read the instructions again. You must add a citation to an article (not a draft or sandbox) and copyedit a real article. Thanks. —Grlucas (talk) 13:36, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: I added an update to the population census for Milledgeville and cited my article. Can you help me with how to add the date I accessed the site because the template reflist will not allow me to? Kehli.west (talk) 22:52, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: That is a web site, so you must use the web template. Here is sample code to fix the entire paragraph:
The population of Milledgeville was 18,614 according to the 2018 US Census.{{cite web |url=https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/milledgevillecitygeorgia/PST045218 |title=QuickFacts Milledgeville city, Georgia |author=<!--Not stated--> |date=n.d. |website=United States Census Bureau |publisher= |access-date=2019-06-27 |quote=}}
Grlucas (talk) 09:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: I put it in and it does not look right. Am I supposed to be breaking some of the tags up?Kehli.west (talk) 22:01, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: OK, check the page's history; I fixed it. (You did not delete your reference, and I forgot the <ref> tags in my example above.) —Grlucas (talk) 11:26, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: Thank you. Kehli.west (talk) 15:30, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Page Submission

[edit]

@Grlucas: Hello Dr. Lucas. I have submitted my article for review. It is currently in submission status. Here is the link to the article.Kehli.west (talk) 22:27, 30 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kehli.west: It's looking good, but it's not finished, right? You do not sign Wikipedia articles; only talk pages. It's not necessary to repeat links you used in references, and refs should be the last section on the page. I see only two solid references; I would keep looking for more. It's shaping up nicely. —Grlucas (talk) 11:31, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: Thank you for the feedback. I am still searching for information on the different areas. Ok I will remove the external links section. Can you tell me which to you are speaking of so I can narrow the bad ones out? Thank you again for the comments.Kehli.west (talk) 16:58, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: Which do you think are the solid references? —Grlucas (talk) 17:00, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: The About page that you originally commented was good and the news articles. That make 3 I am sure of. What about the official tourism page? I would think that one to be reliable.Kehli.west (talk) 17:03, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: Have a look at Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Acceptable sources (though it's archived). These should give you a good idea. Why do you think the official tourism page might not be as strong as the secondary sources? —Grlucas (talk) 17:22, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: It could possibly be biased because it is to convince people to travel to that area I will try to find more sources.Kehli.west (talk) 17:27, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: Yes. You can use factual information from primary sources, but secondary, notable sources are the best on Wikipedia. —Grlucas (talk) 19:08, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: I reviewed the section about primary sources in the article that you linked. If I can't find a secondary source to corroborate the information, am I supposed to remove the information from the article. Most of the important information comes from the primary source websites. I'm still search articles to back up those facts.Kehli.west (talk) 21:10, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editting Amerson Photos

[edit]

@Kehli.west:-Here is a link to my google drive. See if you are able to drop the photos in the folder. Once I have them, I'll do a few quick edit to get them polished. Mightymize (talk) 12:34, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mightymize: I went and took some photos today. They actually don't need much editing so I'm good. Thanks anyway.Kehli.west (talk) 01:59, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kehli.west: Okay great job getting the photos. Can't wait to see them.-Mightymize (talk) 14:35, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
