About Israel
[edit]Israel is a Terrorist State, it is obvious, a fact, and everyone knows it. All you have to do is turn on the television, and you see. If the Israeli's truly felt sorrowful for the deaths they caused, they wouldn't continue it. They don't even feel shameful when they purposely attacked and caused the deaths of UN observers, and don't forget that they have even attacked the USS Liberty, by torpedoing it, and killing American Sailors. I myself am not Jewish, nor am I Arab/Muslim, thus I have a very unbiased opinion. It just disgusts me how one side can be considered a terrorist state, while the other pretends to be a pretty boy who doesn't perform terrorist acts. Signed: Kaiu (I don't like making accounts)

I do not see how I am making a point... I am just stating fact, that is what encyclopedias are for Kaiu 16:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- First off, let me say that I don't intend to turn this into a debate over whether Israel commits terrorist acts; that belongs on various talk pages. I reverted your edit because replacing Portal:Israel with Israel is a Terrorist State is violation of Wikipedia policy; it is disruption to make a point. Visit Talk:Israel or the 2006 Israeli-Lebanon conflict article to appropriately air your views. Thanks for messaging me about it. Teke 16:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

stub on "De Nugis Curialium"
[edit]Hi Teke. I placed a stub marker on the DNC article a couple of days ago, only to find it removed today. There's a long contents list on the page, but it's just a contents list. The actual article is just 4 sentences long so far -- it's not really very informative for a work that attracted a good deal of scholarship for decades. By adding the stub, I was really hoping to attract someone who could help add more to this tiny, stubby article. I'd really, really like to replace that stub marker. Really. --estmere 20:36, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Autoblocks
[edit]Hi Teke! Which user? I've unautoblocked about a dozen this evening (and confirmed the blocks on about a dozen more). If you can narrow it down, I can look into it. Thanks! ➨ ЯEDVERS 20:31, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I have to WP:AGF. The first vandal edit from him/her and I'll slap them with a permablock and a sockpuppet notice. But if they edit constructively, there are no grounds to block. Sockpuppets are not forbidden on Wikipedia. In fact they're fully allowed. Only abusive use of socks is forbidden. See WP:SOCK. Until this sock is used abusively, no block is possible. ➨ ЯEDVERS 20:55, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

re: need help
[edit]Probably one of those daft questions with a really obvious answer :) Are normal editors allowed to block new users for creating inappropriate usernames? I hang around the new users' log a fair bit, and I usually just put a warning on their talkpages, but I'm not sure how effective that is. I often see editors who aren't admins placing blocks for attacking usernames on such userpages, and I always thought that only admins could block users, so I was wondering what the deal is. Thanks for looking into this! — riana_dzasta • t • c • e • ER • 04:41, 18 August 2006 (UTC) ::There is no such thing as a stupid question :) . Only administrators may block users; an editor may warn people of their names appropriately, but they cannot make or enforce a block. If there is a problem username you see come up, you can notify any administrator and it will be dealt with promptly at WP:AN/I, or if the user has vandalised, at WP:AIV. Happy editing to you! Teke 04:42, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- So basically, when these other users are placing the templates on the page, it's not having any effect? Hmmm, do they know that?! Because I often see fairly well-established editors doing this sort of thing. Well, thanks very much for helping me out with that, have a good one! — riana_dzasta • t • c • e • ER • 04:46, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

You're a sysop!
[edit]Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=Please also add your name to WP:LA =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:16, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Reply from user:Seicer
[edit]Regarding the IPUser's edits, he has stalked my user contribution page. His original edits to Lexington, Kentucky were not cited, were original research, and were tagged. He removed the tag; I readded it. Others removed the statement, he added it back. It went on and on, and now its gone for good. He has not followed up on any of the links I provided him to read over in official policy.
He made an ad homiem comment regarding my "over the line" edits at other articles and then began trolling through my user contributions. Most of the edits were regarding [citation needed] where none need be (or were cited already), replacing information with incorrect statements and reverting them when they were corrected (e.g. Louisville, Kentucky).
The only edits that were constructive came in the form of fixing minor issues, such as "is" -> "are" or something along that line. I did submit it to mediation cabal but my internet connection crapped out while sending - but appearantly its there.
I'll take your advise and go to WP:ANI. I thought that WP:AIV was the approperiate channel but now I see that it wasn't. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 04:56, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Reply from TeraGram
[edit]Thank you very much for your quick help!
I do worry, however. To see why, type user:teragram (no caps) into the search box. That 'bad Teragram' is the one you get directed to.
Would it be permissable to add something that user's page such as "If you are looking for TeraGram, click here"?
Is there a way to create a redirect for such an instance?
Lastly, I wonder if maybe a username policy needs to be added or changed. Since that person was allowed to create a Teragram after my own name TeraGram had already been established, does this mean that tERAgRAM and teragraM and other such names can be created? TeraGram 18:37, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
The Stains
[edit]- Funny thing, that. Though you should probably send the bill to User:VaughanWatch or User:JohnnyCanuck. Don't worry, their indef blocks won't stop them from picking up the bill, they wouldn't let something as silly as an indef block stop them from being on wikipedia. I was actually hoping for a more violent shade of red, but this works. -- pm_shef 04:35, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
