Speedy deletion nomination of User:KailleAtLight
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:KailleAtLight requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. | Uncle Milty | talk | 20:07, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Please don't delete my user. I am new and in spite of many hours of self education, still don't know how this works. It's very complicated. It's fine that you delete my page, I only created it to meet the transparency criteria to create an article. I am a promotions person, and would like to create an article for a friend of mine. That's all. 67.44.208.163 (talk) 21:21, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
I have changed my user information. Would someone please assist me and direct me to where I may submit an article for review for draft and feedback? KailleAtLight (talk) 18:58, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because... I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm not here to promote myself. I only created the user page to try and meet your transparency criteria. I am a promotions person, but in this instance I simply wanted to help a friend post an article. You all are very complicated and I appreciate any assistance.

Notes
[edit]Actually, we can't delete your account as such - no-one can. It's built into the system as impossible. Renaming and vanishing (a rather more serious form of renaming) are possible, however. Now, your user page. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and we very often have problems with people in the PR and marketing world who don't realise that they are being what we regard as promotional. You (or something you are writing about) may very well be the greatest thing since sliced bread - but you can't say it like that. 'Accomplished', 'versatile', and 'proven leadership' were in the first sentence alone. You did manage to avoid 'solutions' and 'passionate', though, but "Experience References Available Upon Request" is very definitely a killer. Any article written in terms like those is doomed from the moment you press 'save'. You have to be neutral, grey even, in tone and vocabulary - even on a user page, but talk pages are a bit freer although promo-talk is not allowed there. These aren't profiles like you would post at LinkedIn - they're there either for notes that are useful to the user, or for the user to tell us a bit about themselves, or even both. Have a look at User:MelanieN (copy that into the search bar) for one with notes and records, or mine for one that tells you quite a bit about me without any clue as to who I actually am. OK? When you are here, you must forget the day job and its language. Not easy - it seems to become engrained, Just As Typing Like This Is Engrained In Some Hip Hop Or Rap Fans. Any questions - just ask. Either me or MelanieN - she's excellent at discovering solutions for persons with difficulties in adapting their methodology to Wikipedia, and is highly accomplished in leading newcomers to achieve their goals. (Sorry - couldn't resist. She is good, though.) Peridon (talk) 23:19, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Elisa Brown
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Elisa Brown, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Please help me with... I am looking for assistance on a factual article written about Elisa Brown. Draft:Elisa Brown KailleAtLight (talk) 20:37, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I fixed your link, we don't need the whole url. What assistance are you seeking? I see you already submitted it for a review. 331dot (talk) 21:15, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'm just trying to write about Elisa Brown in facts and only facts. Documented in 3rd party. What else do I need to do? KailleAtLight (talk) 21:49, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- Some suggestions: right now, it's not at all clear how Brown meets the notability criteria that apply to musicians. You might want to rewrite the draft to emphasize how she meets one or more of the criteria. Your draft has several external links in the body text. These can be turned into wikilinks, when the corresponding article exists and all you are trying to do is identify. If the external link is actually supposed to be a reference that supports the sentence, you need to turn it into a footnote using
<ref>...</ref>
tags. Also watch out for mid-sentence footnotes - they are often a sign that you are attempting to put together a statement from disparate sources that no source can support. Beware of reporting the goals and aspirations of people and organizations as if they were facts in Wikipedia's voice. They can be presented as opinions if you identify whose opinion and provide a citation to support it. - You can continue to make improvements to the draft while you wait for review. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:35, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
