Merger proposal
Hi Kailash, i need your help in merging of list of highest-grossing Tamil films to Highest-grossing Tamil films, though i believe list of highest-grossing Tamil films is the correct title for the page but Highest-grossing Tamil films is semi-protected 3 months which makes the former attracting numerous vandalist edits(which is happening currently as you can see it in history) by fans of certain heroes.so, if you know how to do a proper merger can you do it? Thank you! MeeGhaMan (talk) 14:33, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Which page is more highly developed? Tag the less developed page for deletion. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:05, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- I used proper deletion tags in list of highest-grossing Tamil films but some one deletes it every time as it is not a semi-protected page..i don't think one page is highly/less developed, because templates of both pages and it's content are duplicates of each other.I think we can retain Highest-grossing Tamil films which is semi-protected for 3 Months and delete list of highest-grossing Tamil films.Thank you! MeeGhaMan (talk) 16:21, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your help Kailash, the page has been deleted and title moved to list of highest-grossing Tamil films.MeeGhaMan (talk) 13:03, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey! Have you seen I? Actually, I really loved the movie. The visual effects was brilliant, never seen before in any Indian film. But, I think Vikram's performance took the film to another level. Not many actors have the courage to look ugly and do a 8 minute scene in an underwear.—Prashant 06:26, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, I disliked the film for its length, the songs that looked distracting, and the chemistry between the lead pair. Vikram was, however, splendid as the hunchback, but annoying before the deformation. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:30, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yep! It was quite tiring. A length of 3 hours and 8 minutes is really something hard to digest. Also, the excess detailing stretched its length. Plus, the never ending fight sequences were distracting. However, I loved the background score and the songs. Especially the picturization of "Lady O", "IsaakTaari". Others were very annoying.—Prashant 06:37, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for disturbing. Was V. S. Raghavan the old doctor who reveals Lee that he has been infected with 'I' virus in the film? Please let me know. And, my opinion on 'I' is five. I - Infectious for Vikram, I - Impressive for P. C. Sreeram, I - Imperfect for Shankar, I - Incomplete for Rahman, and I - Irritating as a film. You know why? Because of worst possible dubbing and bad dialogues cum lyrics with Vikram's dubbing by someone for Lingesan, Lee and Vikram's dubbing for hunchback being the only exceptions. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:23, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Pavanjandhyala: Looked like V. S. Raghavan only and even the voice too resembled much of his. Hadn't Vikram dubbed himself for all the versions? —Vensatry (ping) 17:59, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Nope. It wasn't him. -- Sriram speak up 18:08, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Vikram did dub only for the hunchback in Telugu. The rest were dubbed by some other artist who usually dubs for Suriya in Telugu. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 04:46, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- VSR wasn't the one who played the Doc. -- Sriram speak up 10:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Pavanjandhyala! The old man who appears in the beginning of this video is VSR. Did the Doc in I look like him? -- Sriram speak up 10:52, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Sriram Vikram: No. After the news of his death, few images were shown which resembled this doctor character and i wanted to be clarified. Thanks for the same. Well, did you watch the film? Did you like it? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:38, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- How would I miss it? I am a die-hard fan of Vikram. I did like it for the most part. But, in comparison to Shankar's previous films, this wasn't upto the mark. The story and the treatment were good, but the screenplay wasn't. IMHO, the only drawbacks of the films are the screenplay, the extravagantly over-the-top picturisation which became suffocating after a point and the under-developed characterisation. Nonetheless, Vikram almost managed to make up for the flaws. A guy with incredible acting prowess, he isn't intelligent enough to chose good scripts. He gives way too much importance to his role than the story itself. -- Sriram speak up 12:04, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- The three-hour running time must also have not been too pleasing for you I suppose. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:06, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- No, the runtime didn't bother me. Not really. FYI, even Sivaji and Anniyan runs for more than 3 hours. Btw, I heard that the Telugu version had been edited by more than 10 minutes after the long run-time was criticised. Is that true? -- Sriram speak up 12:10, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- For someone who have seen Thavamai Thavamirindhu, the runtime is nothing!! -- Sriram speak up 12:15, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Poor Kailash! Too many editors stalking his page!! -- Sriram speak up 12:13, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Shankar's previous film Sivaji IMHO was salvaged only by Rajinikanth and nothing else (i am a Telugu person and consider it before any conclusions). Here too Vikram's hard work is the reason behind the film's good BO Performance, i mean a better one if the film apart from Vikram is considered. The scene where Amy throws a coin at the hunchback and his expression despite such thick prosthetic there proved his talent. But one thing, a non linear narration for a film of 3+ hours should not be encouraged, especially for a "thriller" like this. And the Telugu version has not been trimmed. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:16, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- And one thing, it is true that many are stalking this page. But that makes everyone share their opinions and build good relationships here of course. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:16, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- True. For a plot as simple as this, they could have made it work better with a chronological narrative. They could have ended the first half with the cliff-hangar of Vikram's faked accident, explaining the conspiracy and Vikram's retribution in the second. That way, the first half could have been fun and enjoyable. Also, it would have lowered the people's expectations. The suspense in the second half could have worked in their favour. -- Sriram speak up 12:26, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- I liked the film though it wasn't as good as Anniyan, which I thought was a very good effort. Vikram's character was even more pitiable than his role. ARR's BGM was not upto the mark. Dialogues are no longer sharper in Shankar's films after the demise of Sujatha. Above all, Shankar's obsession for white-skinned ladies continues. And yes, Vikram is not intelligent enough to choose films based on scripts like Kamal. He gives more weightage to his role rather than anything. If the set up of NFA jury is somewhat like Hollywood, he is sure to get the award. But sadly it won't happen for roles like this in India. —Vensatry (ping) 08:18, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

- @Choor monster: Please don't place multiple warnings on user talk pages all at once, like you did here and here. Place the proper warning, and then wait and see of they edit again, and then place another warning. Please do it this way for all but the most egregious vandalism such as racial slurs, death threats, and the like. -- Diannaa (talk) 20:24, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Hope this recharges you after hitting "thank" button during the GAR of Chennai Express (and also for my rare edits on Mayabazar) Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:26, 30 January 2015 (UTC) |
Honestly, i begin everyday at Wiki start working on Mayabazar but when i see the collected refs, i got only one idea - and that was "the article would have these sections: In the media, Film Adaptations, Legacy". No BO figures, no absolute facts about production and that kills my interest. But i am sure that i will pull it off soon, somehow. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:28, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the coffee Pavan (though I don't often drink coffee at this time of then day) and you can find more Telugu sources to expand Mayabazar. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

- Two things. 1. Do you have more comments to add to the FLC? 2. The article is shaping up well. But, the FLC needs more reviewers. Do you know anyone else who might be interested in reviewing it? If so, pls intimate them about the FLC. Or, name them so I can ask them for their comments. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 12:27, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey @Pavanjandhyala:! Can you find any reliable sources for this film: Ooha. You might have to look for sources in Telugu since the English search proved futile. -- Sriram speak up 12:25, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- Sriram, my search too was futile. Only the full movie is available in YouTube and after having a look at it, i found that Vikram was its antagonist and the film was a heroine-centric one. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:37, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't know in which mood you are, but one small tip. Grosshigh's user page lists only the list of highest grossing films and nothing more. Padma's previous socks Bewakoofiyan and Bhishek exhibit similar behavior if you check their user pages, particularly the former. Hope that may help you. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 09:06, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
And, one more notable coincidence. Padma's previous socks mostly have the names of films and film-related things (including few extremely absurd ones). Take a glance on this page. I hope it shall not disappoint you for sure. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

- Unfortunately, the book by Danny does not have Ananda Vikatan's review on the film, but page 163 states, "The Telugu version became an iconic success with the superb combination of all the top artistes of that industry. Though it did not achieve the same status in Tamil, it is still remembered for the excellent songs, lavish making and interesting script." Kailash29792 (talk) 07:35, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- That has been used in the lead already. Now that means we are left with nothing most probably. Hence, i shall submit a c/e request today to Onel5969. Hear Dr. Blofeld is a bit strict, but i want him to review this one. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:40, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

SRK peer review
Thank you for supporting SRK at FA. As you may know, it failed mainly due to length issues. I have a new peer review open, and would like to get your opinion on a particular issue that I raised in a a section called 'Question from Bollyjeff' here: Wikipedia:Peer review/Shah Rukh Khan/archive2. Thanks, BollyJeff | talk 21:55, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Have u ever seen both movies. There is no similarities between rashoman and this. (Ganeshiyer3000 (talk) 11:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC))
Even from Randor Guy link given below states "Many people to this day are under the impression that the film was an adaptation of the Akira Kurosawa classic Rashomon". The fact this is totally different from Rashoman seen both movies, there is no one similarity between both Rashoman. Then the subject themes and influences gives away too much about film which is actually the suspense of the film. You can say what themes the film undergoes but you are also revealing which characters falls under these themes. Even in Usual suspects article you can see no where the identity of killer is revealed except in plot area.
Interestingly there is 1946 Tamil film "Chitra" plot which was similar to this one. http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/blast-from-the-past-chitra-1946/article495326.ece (Ganeshiyer3000 (talk) 12:02, 21 February 2015 (UTC))
- In that case, ask Vensatry as he brought the article to GA status. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:17, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Rashomon effect is contradictory interpretations of the same event by different people. Same events are altered by people who narrates it to suite them. What does it have to with Andha Naal. The woman in question and Virumandi are the films comes under this. But no where Andha Naal falls under this category by including this actually gives wrong information.
Rashoman - A man found murdered. Even police was never seen in this film. Just accounts of four people who give altered events to save themselves. The murder is about a bandit rapes the man's wife and is watched by a woodcutter. we see accounts of bandit, Wife, man's ghost through medium and woodcutter with a final act.
Andha Naal - A man found murdered. Here police starts investigating house owner, his brother, Brother's wife, his mistress and last his wife. None of the people here give altered accounts. What they say is fact so hence rashoman effect does not apply. As every one's account we come to know the motive each may have like his brother having money problem, house owner in love with man's mistress. Wife has patriotism and hero involved in Espionage activities during Madras bombing of 1942. I cant find any similarities compared to Rashoman. Here it is a common police procedural film like so many detective films or Agatha Christie novels. You can then say every Agatha Christie novel is based on woman in question. It is genre.
Sivaji Ganesan's Autobiography states the director wanted to make a film like Rashoman and began to write. There is difference between inspiration and similarities. Even Nolan has Heat as inspiration for Dark knight but that you can mention in production or development instead you are introducing a film as Andha naal inspired by Rashoman. As if like some remake film.
I think you should watch all three movies and then edit. At the least read those article about Rashoman and decide yourself. I hope you don't want to have a article with so many inaccuracies. (Ganeshiyer3000 (talk) 12:46, 21 February 2015 (UTC))

How to measure the size of an article on Wikipedia? In Enthiran's PR, Doc said that the article has decreased to 146 kbs from 166 kbs. How to find out the article's size like that? — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:23, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

DDLJ poster
The reason I removed 'File:DDLJ 1000 Weeks Poster.jpg' is that it looks almost identical to the original at the top of the page, so it will not work under free use of copyrighted material. Yet it is not the original poster, so it's not appropriate at the top of the page either. I don't really see what purpose it serves. BollyJeff | talk 15:24, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

- Hopefully by the weekend. BTW, what is the status of GAV? Kailash29792 (talk) 16:49, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- GAV is being dubbed into Tamil as Ram Leela, as the protagonist's name is Ram partly. Okay, there are a few contradictory claims regarding Prakash Raj's inclusion and i should mention them. Few parts are needed to be re written due to excessive detailing (A lesson taught due to the FA failure of SRK). After that, a c/e and later a GAR by Amritasyaputra or Jaguar. If the latter comes, the home media release should happen as he would ask me to cite the cast details using rolling titles. So the bottomline is - "It may happen in the second half of 2015". It was supposed to be my first. I've done six, got c/ed one and two are nearing completion. But still GAV stands untouched. Period! Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:53, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Break
Kailash29792, I have to inform you that my 3rd year semester opens up this coming Monday. The subjects are going to be difficult and I probably won't be having time to edit on Wikipedia. I will be here until the end of the first week of March 2015 by which time Enthiran will be up for FAC. After the nomination of the article, I have to put up a wikibreak sign for 4 months. I will come back in June 2015 when the semester ends. So, as co-nominator of the article, please do take care of the comments at FAC. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 14:12, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
OK Kanmani
Hi long time. :) I want to initiate a discussion over the title issue of Mani Ratnam's upcoming OK Kanmani. Some official posters say that it is Oh Kadhal Kanmani where as previous ones (official) say OK Kanmani. According to this, what should be the title of the page? Is it right to move the page to the title "Oh Kadhal..." or let it stay on "OK..." ? Arjann (talk) 13:52, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Which is the more common name? I would prefer the full name though. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:12, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Mr. Ratnam is promoting as OK Kanmani. So let it be that way. Mention the full name in the lead. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:41, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- The official Twitter handle of the film specifically mentioned that the title is O Kadhal Kanmani. Fresh posters are writing the same. Just for popularity and some marketing reasons it is being referred as OK Kanmani. I've added that reference in the lead of the page. Edits and suggestion are always welcomed from experienced users.
