St Donat's Castle scheduled for TFA
[edit]This is to let you know that the St Donat's Castle article has been scheduled as today's featured article for October 16, 2018. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 16, 2018, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1100 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:33, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Hello KJP1,
Thank you for the review, I have made the necessary changes and have updated the article.
Kindly do the needful.
Sagarshah28 (talk) 11:08, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
- Sagarshah28 - Hi, and thanks for getting back in touch. I'm afraid I'm no longer involved in Afc so won't be able to re-review your draft. However, if you ask at the Helpdesk, I'm sure somebody will be able to do so. Regards. KJP1 (talk) 12:58, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Sandringham House
[edit]Congratulations and well done! I know what a trial FAC can sometimes turn into. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 17:52, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- RexxS - Many thanks. Really appreciated your support, and your suggestions which definitely improved the article. That FAC did turn into a bit of a marathon! I shall look for a less contentious subject for the next, although I have to say I didn't anticipate Sandringham would raise temperatures quite as much as it did. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 20:05, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Have your say!
[edit]Hi everyone, just a quick reminder that voting for the WikiProject Military history coordinator election closes soon. You only have a day or so left to have your say about who should make up the coordination team for the next year. If you have already voted, thanks for participating! If you haven't and would like to, vote here before 23:59 UTC on 28 September. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:29, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
Re: Duncan Edwards
[edit]Unfortunately I've not had the chance to review all the punctuation in the article, but I will do so at some point today. I would say the MOS is wrong in this situation. Punctuation does not always have to come outside the speech marks, and probably shouldn't do so if the quoted passage ends with a comma or full stop in the original source. It's up to us to make our writing fit with the quote as-is. – PeeJay 07:19, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- PeeJay2K3 - No worries, I doubt anyone else will notice! This is helpful, MOS:INOROUT, but I appreciate you'll know it already. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 07:24, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
The Survivor review
[edit]Hi, I wanted to see if you were interested in giving that draft article Draft:The Survivor (2016) another review? I think I've gotten the editor to reformat it so that it doesn't have those embedded links, and he's added some sources. It should have two reviews independent of the subject now. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:11, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF - Hi, I’m afraid I’m not involved in AFC anymore, so I’m not able to help. KJP1 (talk) 16:31, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- No worries. I added a review that shows the motivations of the filmmakers (trying to get the kid into college and funded). I'll go ahead and accept but the COI tag will stay there for a bit. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:54, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Peer review?
[edit]What ho! I've got Hector Berlioz up for peer review, and would be exceedingly pleased if you could find time and disposition to look in. He was a much nicer man than my last composer FAC, that five-star sh*t Claude Debussy, and his life story is packed with incident, so I don't think you'll be bored if you dip in. TFA
[edit]Thank you for St Donat's Castle, a "little castle in a corner of South Wales" with "quite an interesting history"! As it happens, a schloss is also pictured on the Main page, also with quite an interesting history (and a short hook after a long discussion). I am prouder, though, of this comment which I think is true. We also have in common missing friends, sadly. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:28, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Sissinghurst Castle Garden...
[edit]...if you need a map/plan drawing for the garden, let me know - happy to help out. Hchc2009 (talk) 17:19, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hchc2009 - Morning H, good to hear from you and hope you're keeping well. If you had time to do a plan, that would be absolutely great. The article really needs one, as it's close to impossible to give readers an understanding of the garden's layout without. I requested one here, Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Map workshop, but haven't had any response, and User:Chiswick Chap, the only other editor I know who can draw plans, doesn't think he'll have the time. At his suggestion, I asked the NT if they'd be willing to release one of their older versions - they've got loads - but they haven't replied. There are plenty of examples online, some particular nice ones being this, [1] - which I think is from Nigel N's 1968 guide - and this, [2] - which appears to be a reverse image of an NT one from their 2008 guide - and this [3] - from the Sissinghurst gardeners' blog. And there are loads more online. I'd really appreciate it if you had the time. Many thanks. KJP1 (talk) 07:26, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- Right, 85% there. Should be able to send you a pre-final version for checking next weekend. Hchc2009 (talk) 10:39, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hchc2009 - sorry for the delay. Am currently getting some late summer sun, and actually a fair bit of rain, in Valencia. The weekend would be great but no rush. I'm working with another editor on matters horticultural and they're doing some research on plants/names/most important etc. etc. so we won't be going to PR for a while. Many thanks again. KJP1 (talk) 16:37, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
- See if File:Sissinghurst Castle Garden plan - unlabelled.jpg works for you; if so, I can label up a version etc. Hchc2009 (talk) 19:02, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Wow, gorgeous map!! DBaK (talk) 20:11, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- Gorgeous is exactly how I'd describe it! It is beautiful and thanks a million. It does the job perfectly. If I can make one suggestion, a corresponding key, in black characters, A = The West Range, B = The Tower etc., would be perfect. I think to clutter the map with too much text would detract from it. It really is a terrific piece of work and I'm very grateful. KJP1 (talk) 22:28, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Right, see if this works for you - I've tried to keep it fairly minimal, as requested; I can make the lettering bigger, add additional ones etc. very easily if needed. Hchc2009 (talk) 10:04, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- H - It looks superb and I think the lettering's just right. The only things I think could usefully be added, because they're mentioned in the text, are Erechtheum and Delos, to the North (top) and West (left) of the White Garden respectively, and the Yew Walk to the right of the Lower Courtyard. And Priest's House needs an 'S'. It is great and will really help readers. Very much appreciate your help. KJP1 (talk) 17:48, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
Right, updated - I'll slot into the article now, but obviously feel free to move around etc., and any issues, just drop me a line. Best of luck at FAC! Hchc2009 (talk) 07:38, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

BT Tower
[edit]Hi thanks for the feedback, am working on correctly a lot of fundamental stuff such as the official opening date. Personally it looks like the rumour of it being an official secret seems to have been unnecessarily furthered by the wiki page given the almost identical sentences people are quoting, even the BT web site has similar language, Butlins themselves were publishing the address from early '66...do you think it's time to remove that sentence or move it to being referred to as a rumour?
- Irrelevant addition before passing on to blatant importuning, below: I had one of my two 21st-birthday parties in the Post Office Tower restaurant in 19-mind-your-own-business. [edit]Reference your comment here, you're absolutely correct. Bloody rude, actually. If you do happen to be on the lookout for a peer review at which the nominator hangs onto your every word, basking in the reflected glory that your attendance brings with it, then maybe look in at WP:Peer review/William de Ros, 6th Baron de Ros/archive1, at your own leisure, which hopefully you might find interesting without being overly hard work? Hope all is well. ——SerialNumber54129 14:33, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- It would be my pleasure. I’m down in Monmouthshire for a few days, in pursuit of images for the 25-odd remaining Grade II* listed buildings without them, but I shall certainly look in. KJP1 (talk) 14:41, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- That's very kind, thanks! I was wary of asking, as, joking or not, it does feel rather spammy. It's just that it doesn't look like it'll be getting much traction any time soon. I hope Monmouthshire is both business and pleasure; I was in Abergavenny a few years back, using it for a (very truncated) tour of castles. It's a lovely part of the world. And thirst-quenching too after a day in the ruins! ——SerialNumber54129 15:02, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey! Long time no speak! I'm back after a bit of a break, and I've been working on Leicester. It's almost finished; I'm just going to go through and see if there's anything I can add from the various biographies of Lutyens just to make sure I've satisfied 1c, then I'll probably put it up for A-class review at MilHist in the next day or three. If you have a chance to flip through it to make sure it makes sense I'd really appreciate it. I'd also be interested in any thoughts on the images—there were quite a lot to choose from (I was blessed with a gloriously sunny day two summers ago!) and I'd like to have included more but I can't find room to fit any more in neatly. What are you working on at the minute? All the best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:40, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
