Delists
Hi. How are you? Will you take a look at the delist nominations? The antigenic shift nom has an obvious result, but I'd prefer not to close it since I nominated it for delisting. I'm not sure what to do with the other two noms. Strictly speaking, the delist nomination has failed in each case because the minimum number of "delist" votes was not met. Therefore, the by-the-book result should be Keep. I'm not entirely comfortable with that result, though, since consensus actually seems to be for delisting. I ignored the vote minimum a while back (here), but that was a much clearer case. I'll defer to your judgment here; I've had far too many headaches both on- and off-wiki lately to trouble myself with this any more. Thanks. Best, Makeemlighter (talk) 09:04, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hey there. I'm doing well for the most part -- life has been crazy in both personal and work related matters lately. Hopefully that will start clearing up sometime soon.
- I replaced the antigenic shift FP, and I went ahead and delisted the other two. I probably wouldn't if anyone argues in favor of keeping the original, but I didn't see that there so I agree consensus was to delist. Sorry about the many headaches. Personally my brain can only afford one set of headaches at a time; I tend to ignore the wiki-headaches when they coincide! Take it easy. Jujutacular talk 12:28, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Request
Please take a look I read your above message and saw that you're both busy here and in real life, so I understand if you have neither the time nor interest, but if you want to do me a favor, take a look at Everything That Happens Will Happen Today—I really want to get the FA on this one before the three-year anniversary in August (I actually wanted it several months ago) and I'd appreciate your input. I'll post to the relevant WikiProjects, maybe ask for a peer review, etc., but every bit helps. I've seen the article so many times for so long now that it's virtually impossible for me to see the forest for the trees anymore. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 08:53, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed, quite busy. I've barely had time to log on. If I get a decent amount of time on wiki anytime soon that will be the first thing to do on my list. Jujutacular talk 17:06, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Juju,
Just to let you know that the Featured Picture File:Woodbridge isothermal chart3.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on June 19, 2011. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2011-06-19. howcheng {chat} 16:54, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Helping me with my FA
Thanks for these edits. As you can see, I've tried this a couple of times before and it's a bear. If you want to do some light copyediting, that's a real boon--you might recall that the prose is the most difficult part for me. Thanks a lot. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:55, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Fall-off in the rate of FPC promotions
Hi, just wondering why. Tony (talk) 16:32, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- The simplest answer is that there haven't been that many nominations. There are only 40 completed nominations so far in June. That projects to 60 for the month. We had 62 in May, 83 in April, 84 in March, only 49 in February, ... I could keep going, but the basic idea is that fewer nominations results in fewer promotions. In the past, we've seen lulls when some of the major contributors are inactive. This is certainly the case now. Actually, we don't have that many major contributors anymore. JJ Harrison is the biggest one, and he's only been active intermittently. Some of the most prolific contributors during my time at FPC (e.g., Diliff, Muhammad, Durova) are either inactive or only active sporadically. FPC is really driven by contributors like these because of the high-quality equipment needed to produce top-notch photographs and the skill needed to restore images. While anyone could conceivably write an FA, it's more difficult for most editors to produce (or even find) an FP. We've seen some new contributors lately, however, and some old ones have returned, so I'm optimistic for the future. Besides, as has often been pointed out, POTD has a 3829-year-long queue, so we probably won't run out of FPs any time soon. Cheers. Makeemlighter (talk) 01:42, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- What he said :) I'm unfortunately one of those that is only 'intermittently' active. I frankly don't have the time currently to devote to restorations. I'd like to think I will be more active again in a couple months, but I can't say for certain. Jujutacular talk 03:49, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Guys, thanks for these responses. Sorry, it's only with the SP deadline that I remembered I'd posed this question here. Good point about POTD. FAs and FLs are also seeming a little sparse, and FSs are flaky at the moment. Tony (talk) 13:18, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Ambassador Program: assessment drive
Even though it's been quiet on-wiki, the Wikipedia Ambassador Program has been busy over the last few months getting ready for the next term. We're heading toward over 80 classes in the US, across all disciplines. You'll see courses start popping up here, and this time we want to match one or more Online Ambassadors to each class based on interest or expertise in the subject matter. If you see a class that you're interested, please contact the professor and/or me; the sooner the Ambassadors and professors get in communication, the better things go. Look for more in the coming weeks about next term.
In the meantime, with a little help I've identified all the articles students did significant work on in the last term. Many of the articles have never been assessed, or have ratings that are out of date from before the students improved them. Please help assess them! Pick a class, or just a few articles, and give them a rating (and add a relevant WikiProject banner if there isn't one), and then update the list of articles.
Once we have updated assessments for all these articles, we can get a better idea of how quality varied from course to course, and which approaches to running Wikipedia assignments and managing courses are most effective.

Online Ambassadors: Time to join pods
Hello! If you're planning to be an active Online Ambassador for the upcoming academic term, now is the time to join one or more pods. (A pod consists of the instructor, the Campus Ambassadors, and the Online Ambassadors for single class.) The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) explains the expectations for being part of a pod as an Online Ambassador. (The MOU for pods in Canada is essentially the same.) In short, the role of Online Ambassadors this term consists of:
- Working closely with the instructor and Campus Ambassadors, providing advice and perspective as an experienced Wikipedian
- Helping students who ask for it (or helping them to find the help they need)
- Watching out for the class as a whole
- Helping students to get community feedback on their work
This replaces the 1-on-1 mentoring role for Online Ambassadors that we had in previous terms; rather than being responsible for individual students (some of whom don't want or help or are unresponsive), Online Ambassadors will be there to help whichever students in their class(es) ask for help.
You can browse the upcoming courses here: United States; Canada. More are being added as new pods become active and create their course pages.
Once you've found a class that you want to work with—especially if you some interest or expertise in the topic area—you should sign the MOU listing for that class and get in touch with the instructor. We're hoping to have at least two Online Ambassadors per pod, and more for the larger classes.
If you're up for supporting any kind of class and would like me to assign you to a pod in need of more Online Ambassadors, just let me know.

Pod suggestions
Hi Jujutacular! I'm in the process of trying to find Online Ambassadors to support each of the classes for this term, and I want to recommend a few to you: Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/Theories of the State (Erik Olin Wright) and Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/Architectural Design V(Jim Sullivan, Meredith Sattler). If you're up for it, please check out the Memorandum of Understanding which sketches the expectations for Online Ambassadors this term, and then you can sign on to one or more classes and get in touch with the professor(s).
If there's another class you'd rather support (or additionally support), feel free! We're shooting for at least about 2 Online Ambassadors for each class.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 14:49, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
Update on courses and ambassador needs
Hello, Ambassadors!
I wanted to give you one last update on where we are this term, before my role as Online Facilitator wraps up at the end of this week. Already, there are over 800 students in U.S. classes who have signed up on course pages this term. About 40 classes are active, and we're expecting that many more again once all the classes are up and running.
On a personal note, it's been a huge honor to work with so many great Wikipedians over the last 15 months. Thanks so much to everyone who jumped in and decided to give the ambassador concept a try, and double thanks those of you who were involved early on. Your ideas and insights and enthusiasm have been the foundation of the program, and they will be the keys the future of the program.

FP closures
This and this - the FP tag didn't add right. I don't have the time right now to figure out what happened. Not sure if it's the script or something else. Take a look if you get a chance. Thanks. Makeemlighter (talk) 02:58, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that I'm seeing what went wrong. Could you be more specific? Jujutacular talk 04:12, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- I was just coming to explain, and I see that the problem isn't there anymore. The script displayed an error about editing the file pages, and the file pages did not display the FP tag. Rather, they displayed some error text. I forget exactly what they said. The error text was in the edit window when I looked there, but the FP tag is there now even though my edits are the only ones in the file history. It must just have been some strange server error. Makeemlighter (talk) 19:11, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- I see. Indeed, sounds like a server issue of some sort. Let me know if you have any other trouble. Sorry I haven't been terribly active as of late. I do still plan on at least maintaining this script as long as it's helpful. Jujutacular talk 09:12, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
