Hey, why was the Lone Wolf page reverted the other day? The Lone Wolf fan ring is trying to update this page, and every time we do lately, you revert it. Maybe instead of just reverting it, you could post here or in the discussion page what we're adding that you find needs removal?

Chrono Cross

I just finished editing through use of a hard copy of the article, and tons of fat have been melted away to leave a crisp product. I'm making the rounds on a few editors' talk pages to invite them to give the article a glance. Once Chrono Trigger is locked in FA, Chrono Cross should be next. Final Fantasy XI

Hey, what's the rush in nominating this for GA already? We've really barely begun to work on it and there's a lot of things that still haven't been addressed in both the peer review and the talk page. Cool your heels a little - there's a lot more people working on the article and I know I for one would have appreciated some discussion before the nomination went through - I could have told you it wasn't going to pass! :) You might also want to check out the Final Fantasy wikiproject to get an idea of how much work people have put in to some of the other FF-related articles before they went GA. I understand the desire to work on GA and FA articles but it does take time and collaboration, so take a few deep breaths and let's all work together on making the article the best it can be. -RaCha'ar 18:47, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Final Fantasy V (again)

Hey, thanks for finally uploading some decent images to Final Fantasy V. We really need more, like an image showing the Job system in action, perhaps an image of the game's intro (King Tycoon flying off on Hiryuu), an FMV shot that's story-related, and of course an Amano image (maybe one of Faris, since he stated in an interview he liked her design). Unfortunately, there's not really an official map for this game, on any of the three worlds. Locations don't really play a major role either: the characters go from one place to the next without returning, mostly. It's also difficult to let the reader know the difference between the two worlds without calling them things like "Bartz's world" and "Galuf's world," although several sites say "First World" and "Second World" a lot. ~ Hibana 14:09, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm having trouble finding a reliable script though. The one at IGN states that Enuo was sealed away 500 years ago when in fact it was 1000 years ago, and I don't want to cite it since it's not consistent with the other articles. I found one here that looks promising, but it has no author. I've attempted to contact the webmaster to see who it is. We got it! Congratulations and good job! Now, the incredible task of getting it to FA status is a long way away. I don't think it's possible at this point because I've expended the all the resource information on the game and it still comes up seeming as one of the series' blacksheep. It would have to be extremely well-written, and quite frankly, I don't have that ability, at least not now. Allusions section

After I add info on how the Tao religion is related to the Force. I'm going to have to change the section's title again. There is no real Historical allusions to be noted in the section. But I was thinking of something like "Cinematic, literary and cultural allusions". But I think it's too long. Any good words for combining "cinematic" and "literary"? re: Final Fantasy V

After reading through it again, I would have to say that it's good article quality. I did notice some minor breaches of the Manual of Style (like the citations being before punctuation or after space), but nothing major. Should be easy to fix. Great work, in any case.

It needs more work if you want FA status - take a look at Final Fantasy VII for some ideas on what you could do, though I wouldn't recommend making your article as long as that one (FF VII barely got away with it). Another thing you should look into before trying FAC is copyediting, preferably from a few different people - the prose could do with some improvement, but it's nothing extreme enough to prevent good article status. You probably already know that User:Ryu Kaze and User:Deckiller are the people to ask for Final Fantasy-related copyediting, but I thought I should make sure. Thank you for taking action against vandals. You probably saw my username on that IP's talk page, warning the vandal. Unfortunately, I am not an administrator, so I cannot block users. I am a member of the Counter-Vandalism Unit.

Looking at the IP's page, it seems it is assigned to a school district. These are some of the worst sources of vandalism, because they are used by multiple students, some of who think it's funny to vandlise Wikipedia. Ironically, the same fact means that these IP's can't be blocked for long periods of time; many students have legitimate contributions to make.

Read the above page to find out what to do about vandals in the future, and please consider taking part in the AVU. PrometheusX303 12:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Massive modifications on StarCraft's article

Hello,

I've just seen you made tons of modifications on StarCraft's article recently. I haven't gone through all of them but one that shocked me is the External Links section where you completely cut most of the links because, according to your commentary, they were "massive and unnecessary". I have to strongly disagree with your opinion here because most of the links are very useful. For example, all the "Community sites" are useful to anyone wanting to know more about StarCraft's community. The "Third-party applications" section is useful as well, for people reading this article can be StarCraft players.

Anyway, we can discuss this as much as you want, because I definitely hope most of these links will be back.

There should be a reference supporting this player's popularity in one of the links already present but I don't know the rather complicated syntax currently being used in this article for references. Link #28 ([1]) references Lim Yo-Hwan's large fanbase at the begining and middle, though it doesn't explicitly say he's the most popular. ShardPhoenix 17:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

RE : Starcraft links

I agree that all fan sites must not be referenced but the ones that were there were a bit more than that. Plus, the ones currently listed are not really representative of the community itself. I will add a few (3-4 tops) links today or Monday and I'll let you know.

Just wanted to let you know that after being back from a lengthy wikibreak, I was unaware of WP:WAF until right now, so I just edited WikiProject Middle-earth's Standards to match the style guide. I understand that the general outline of a character should be [Name] is a fictional character in [insert fictional universe], but WP:Me Standard's beginning sentence begins with this: In J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium, [Name] is a fictional character who was [insert primary information]. Since WP:WAF is a style guide and not a set, must-follow policy, switching the order of words surely won't be considered unencyclopedic. Otherwise, the headings WP:Me will follow: Appearances -> Characteristics -> Concept and creation. Thanks. :) (On a random note, do you often edit Tolkien articles? Curious as to why the link to www.LordofDance.com keeps being eliminated. This is a site featuring A) A video that spoofs Daler Mehndi's Tunak Tunak Tun B) A video that was popular enough at one point to have been downloaded 30,000 times within a period of five days C) One of the earliest parodies of Daler Mehndi's work, dating to 2001.

No erroneous claims were made in the link, and it seems worth listing, being one of the first videos to parody Daler Mehndi.

Blair Witch Project

Why no fan art? I've never seen that on a Wikipedia "guidelines page". The Bear Wit project was featured on some local TV stations and MANY sites. Not to mention the fact that a great majority of references throughout wikipedia are fan pages. What truly validates an internet site anyway? It's a true valid link and probably much better of spoof than any of the porno rip offs already listed. Besides "spoofs" are NOT copyright infringement as the Scary Movies amoung others love to point out. Therefore, The Bear Wit Project is legal (neither in violation of the Jim Henson Company or the makers of the Blair Witch Project), commercially available(as my link pointed out), notable (because I enjoyed it more than ANYTHING else on the page, and I didn't make the movie), and argueably just as professional as anything else in wikipedia's ever growing documentation of internet phenomenon. Manhattan

It was incorrect because (as the article itself states) Marble Hill is on the mainland yet officially part of Manhattan.

A lede like "Manhattan the borough is contiguous with Manhattan the island, but also includes a small portion of the mainland" would work best, I think. Daniel Case 22:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Link article

I came across the page Link (The Legend of Zelda series) and noticed you were trying to save it from being de-featured. I personally feel the article overly long and think it really deserves a trimming especially "Appearances" section.

Example: "Link approaches his 16th birthday, Impa takes him to North Castle in Hyrule, alarmed by the sudden appearance of a Triforce crest on the boy’s left hand. She shows him the true heiress of Hyrule, an older incarnation of Princess Zelda, trapped out of time in an eternal sleep, lying on an altar in the castle. The old woman also tells Link the Legend of Zelda, an ancient tale about the division of the Triforce and the curse that was put upon the princess. Impa then gives Link six crystals, and a scroll written in an ancient Hylian tongue, which Link understands despite having never learned it. He reads that the mark on his hand is the sign that he was chosen to seek the third Triforce, Courage, in the Great Palace in the Valley of Death. Link then begins a quest to place a crystal in each of six palaces in Hyrule, so that he can later penetrate unhindered into the magically protected Great Palace, claim the Triforce of Courage, reunite the three pieces of the Triforce, and awaken Zelda. Okay here is a bad draft discussing the first 3 games. This is the size reduction I am talking about when this 3 games currently take up about 3 paragraphs. Whats missing from this is the actual discussion of Link: What is revealed about who link is in this games? his past? I can't find this information and someone should.

Link first appeared as the main protagonist in the 1986 video game The Legend of Zelda released in Japan by Nintendo for the Famicom Disk System platform. Under the direction of the games creator Shigeru Miyamoto the game centered around Link assuming the generic role of a hero in attempting to rescue Princess Zelda and the fictional world of Hyrule from the antagonist Ganon. Link's green cloth, sword and shield in the game would become consistent throught out other Zelda games. Link next appears in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link released in 1987 in Japan. The game centers around Link trying to reunite the three pieces of the Triforce so he can awaken Princess Zelda. The game story reveals that Link is approaching his sixteenth birthday. Link next appears in the 1991 video game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The game is a claimed prequal to the first two games. The game has Link being cast into the Dark World by the antagonist Agahnim. Inside Link has to retrieve the triforce from Ganon and turn the world back to its original state: Golden Land.

Thanks for the timely reply. I found the caption "Vetala decoración semidemoníaca del tantrismo shivaíta." under the picture which translates to "Vetala "semidemonic decoration of the tantrismo shivaíta.". The picture may depict a hindu deity in a martial form. Lord Shiva, in particular is associated with controlling the tantric elements.

My friend, I'll have to remove the picture from the Vampire page, as it might offend hindu religious sensibilities. But there's really no way to convert that list into prose that reads well. There's a reason why the list construction exists - for things like the Remakes & Sequels section. And keep in mind it's not a list of items individually place liked this:

Rather, it's a list construction containing paragraphs:

• The blah is blah. Blah blah blah. Furthermore blah.
• Of course, blah is blah. Blah blah blah. Blah.

I'm glad you're trying to improve the article. As much as I would love to make over the article of one of the greatest games ever made, I've got my hands full with another one. :) But I'd still like to help you out, so here is the section "THE MAKING OF MARIO" from Steven L. Kent's book, The Ultimate History of Video Games: From Pong to Pokemon--The Story Behind the Craze That Touched Our Lives and Changed the World (2001). Here is an Amazon link detailing the book so that you can cite it properly. I don't believe Amazon mentions the location of publication, but it is New York. Without further ado, here is the text, taken from pages 529 and 530:

Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Yoshi, and Star Fox, entered the video game industry with a unique philosophy that was always reflected in his games. "When you draw a laughing face, your face should laugh," he once explained in an interview. "When you draw an angry face, your face should be angry. The character will capture your emotion. The emotions and fun in a game are not made while thinking about business."

By the time Nintendo launched Nintendo 64 (N64), Miyamoto had been creating games for nearly twenty years. He had witnessed and aided the evolution of the business, software, and technology of video gaming. His first game, Donkey Kong, was created by a five-man team and contained approximately 20K of code. Now, as he made the flagship game for N64, his team had swollen to more than fifty members. Instead of 20K, he and his team would write 8 megabytes of code - more than 400 times more code than in Donkey Kong. Instead of designing levels that fit on a single screen, they created enormous 3D landscapes complete with trees, castles, and dinosaurs. Adapting to this new challenge, Miyamoto created a new philosophy. While most game designers were coming up with features, then building their games around them, Miyamoto worked on creating expressive landscapes, then created ways to use them.

"One thing that was different with Super Mario 64 was [that] we wanted to make some snow mountain, a really big one. That came first, and afterward we asked [each other] for the ideas about how to make use of this mountain.

It was as if we were building up an amusement park. We first found our location. We purchased the mountain, and afterward, we thought of some interesting things we wanted to implement on the mountain." - Shigeru Miyamoto

Super Mario 64, Miyamoto's lead game for N64, did a better job of bringing a two-dimensional side-scrolling game into the world of 3D than any game before it. To accomplish this, Miyamoto's team used all of the old characters and objects made popular in early Mario games, then incorporated new devices that could only occur in a 3D environment. The big end battles, for instance, pitted Mario against a much larger foe on a huge 3D platform. The only way for Mario to win was to circle around the enemy.

Building from Miyamoto's amusement park analogy, Super Mario 64 included huge slides and other kinds of activities that bought true variety to the game. Everybody at Nintendo recognized the game as a masterpiece; the only problem was that Miyamoto was taking too long to build it. According to Hiroshi Imanishi, Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi's right-hand man, the release of N64 was delayed until Miyamoto was satisfied with Super Mario 64. The delay would have been even longer, but Yamauchi finally told Miyamoto that the game was good enough.

Hello. I noticed you added a to-do list for Britney Spears in May 2006.
