Possibly unfree File:Kato post apocalyptic steampunk.jpg

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Kato post apocalyptic steampunk.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Non-commercial licenses are not sufficiently permissive for use on Wikipedia. Copyright is owned by Kato herself; she is sending permission. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 17:52, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
This is unlikely, as the subject of the photo does not appear to be the one taking the picture. VQuakr (talk) 20:16, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Demimonde, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Showtime (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:UXG group photo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:UXG group photo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:38, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Ulorin Vex wearing the "Vex" outfit designed by Kato.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. There a claim that permission is being forwarded to OTRS. I just looked and did not see it.--S Philbrick(Talk) 13:15, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Rather than reposting the same images without evidence of copyright permission, please obtain the copyright permission and then post. Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 23:03, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

I do have copywrite permission from her, and she has emailed in the permission to permissions-en@ at least twice now herself. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 01:52, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Can you provide more information about those emails? Date sent would help. If you can tell me the email address (which you might want to email to me rather than displaye here) I can check. I just searched, and did not find anything, but I was guessing at a search term.--S Philbrick(Talk) 13:39, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
The most recent email was sent from Kato yesterday, 7/20. Previous email sent 4/02. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 23:51, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
I want to be careful, because we are not permitted to divulge contents of OTRS emails without permission.
I can say that I see an email sent on 28 May (but I did not find one from 2 April). That email was responded to, explaining it was not sufficient, and explaining next steps. I wonder if it was received, because there are no responses or acknowledgements. Normally, responses would go into the same email thread, and there is nothing further in that string.
I do see emails on 20 July, from her and from you, but both have the same problems as the original.
Neither have yet been handled, but I do know we have a several hundred email backlog.
I will attempt to contact the agent who addressed the first email, who may not have seen the more recent ones.--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:53, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
I believe I see an Out of Office note on the agent who handled this before. I will send something.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:00, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
I sent the same email to you and Kato--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:05, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately, there was a delay in responding to the earlier emails. Apparently Kato was away for a time attending conventions. The delay was unfortunate.
With regard to the email you sent Kato and me just today, it says in part:
"To confirm this authorization, you may do any of the following:
* Resend this email to us from an address listed in the contact page on your website..."
The email she sent the authorization from is exactly the same as the contact email listed on the bottom of every page of her website. I fail to see what the problem is. What am I missing? --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 03:07, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Please recall that I did not send the original, so I do not know, but will look into it. I do not know the website. Can you share it so I can check?--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:01, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Sure, it's steampunkcouture.com. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 17:32, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
I've restored File:Ulorin Vex wearing the "Vex" outfit designed by Kato.jpg and File:Kato with Scissors.jpg--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:47, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! Question though: VQuakr mentioned that once they were approved, the URL printed on them would most likely need to be cropped/removed. I told Kato I'd do this for her. Is there an easy way I can submit the edited images without having any subsequent problems? Thanks. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 17:51, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure, I've asked here. If the answer is that you can upload the new version, go to the image page, look for "Upload a new version of this file" and go ahead and do it. If the advice is that it should be treated as a new photo, upload as a new photo, ping me and I'll add the OTRS tag.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:37, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Nevermind, I figured it out and uploaded revised versions. Thanks for all your help! --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 01:03, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

File:Kato with Scissors.jpg needs authorship information

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Kato with Scissors.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Jonnybgoode44/Archives/2014}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If the image is clearly old enough to be public domain, but the exact sourcing or authorship is not easily determined, please consider placing {{subst:is-old|media type}} as the source and providing as much additional detail as possible.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. VQuakr (talk) 06:46, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
By author I assume you mean the person who took the photograph? I can ask... --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 19:26, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Got a very quick response from Kato on that one: The photographer is a local wedding photographer who wishes to remain anonymous. How would I note that in the file? --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 19:27, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for checking; I think the way you did it was fine. VQuakr (talk) 05:01, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Re: Steampunk works

Hi! I'm the previously anonymous editor who added the bit about the Extraordinary Contraptions to the list of musicians. I think you were mistaken, however; the group does not appear twice on that page. Possibly you confused them with Unextraordinary Gentlemen? - TobyMobias (talk) 23:02, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Well boy, is my face red. So sorry about that mess. I have added the information along with an independent source. Again, sorry. ^_^' - TobyMobias (talk) 03:07, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
