Orphaned non-free media (File:Bayunitedlogo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bayunitedlogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Vodacom bulls.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Vodacom bulls.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:36, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Blacklabeltrophy.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Kfmbreakfast.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sir Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 07:38, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:DemetriCatrakilis110805Potrait.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DemetriCatrakilis110805Potrait.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:05, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:2011nats.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2011nats.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.wpicehockey.co.za. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:23, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited 2012 mid-year rugby test series, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jonathon White (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

iihf hockey scores

[edit]

thanks for providing updates and information to the Division III tournament. I would like to offer a word of caution though; using the match in progress template is dangerous because they are some around who like to police the policy of wikipedia not being a scoreboard. If you update the scorers and not the game score you will be left alone though. I don't care, but in my experience it is better not to show the game score or use the mip template.18abruce (talk) 21:23, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@18abruce - Thanks for the update - I will keep it in mind. I am a IIHF offical and part of the South African Ice Hockey Federation and therefore take huge interest in the IIHF tournaments. But I will keep it in mind with regards to using the MIP template. Kind Regards Jonathanburger (talk) 10:48, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IIHF tournaments are why I joined here, I live for them (don't tell my wife). I was wondering if today's game is being billed as a potential relegation game by RSA? Just thinking that if Hong Kong, UAE, or someone else decides to send a team next year anyone below sixth would be slated to participate at a lower level. Also how did it happen that the qualification tournament in Taiwan was abandoned in favor of the 8 team tournament that we have now? Thank you for any insight you can provide, primarily just personal interest.18abruce (talk) 20:35, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In not sure how the decision came about with regards to the 8 team tournament, but I recon it was to avoid having a 3 team tournament that cost developing ice hockey national associations large amounts to send a full team for only 3 days. This decision was also made in the mens Div III tournament this year where they also have 8 teams and play a semi finals and finals. Keep Well Jonathanburger (talk) 01:05, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Because it os not needed to show games which never happen. In group play it is ok but also not needed now that you ask. We should remove all games from BIH because it looks silly. Kante4 (talk) 09:02, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article 2013 South African Junior Interprovincial Ice Hockey Championship has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Basically a violation of WP:NOTSTATS. No indication from sources that this is a notable instance of this junior-league tournament, and the tournament itself doesn't even have its own article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 05:51, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2022 SAIHF Super League moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, 2022 SAIHF Super League, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?)
