Invitation to chat about interactive maps
Hello, I’m Chris, a community liaison in the Discovery department at the Wikimedia Foundation. I found your work on Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Map_workshop and thought I'd reach out to you.
One of the projects we’re working on is to bring interactive maps to Wikipedia. If you are interested, I’d like to have an informal conversation with you about your work creating maps on Wikipedia. I'd like to learn more about your work and how that might influence the design of interactive maps.
Please let me know of some good times to chat via email and I can setup a meeting for us. I can be reached at ckoernerwikimedia.org.
If you’re not interested, that’s fine. I would appreciate any direction to other editors that might be interested.
Have a good day, CKoerner (WMF) (talk) 21:08, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
DYK Question
Looking through the DYK nominations for something to review for the QPQ for my next nomination, and I came across an article which met most of the requirements but had a recent merge discussion template on it. Would an article that's part of a merger discussion be suitable or unsuitable for DYK? Thanks Red Fiona (talk) 16:42, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Redfiona99. My advice is to skip articles with a merge tag and hopefully once the issue is resolved later, someone else will review it. However, since you have said it meets most of requirements, I assume you have already reviewed it. As a result, I would recommend you post your review and leave it on hold (with a minor tickmark) until the merge discussion is complete. You could also consider engaging in the merge discussion to see if it can be resolved any sooner. Jolly Ω Janner 19:43, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Dorset Ooser
Hello! As someone involved in WikiProject Dorset I just wanted to let you know that a relevant article, the Dorset Ooser, is currently undergoing FAC if you would be interested in taking a look at it and offering your opinion. Best, Midnightblueowl (talk) 12:53, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
The West Country Challenge
Hi, Are you going to join in at: Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge. I'd particularly appreciate your help with getting the right things included in the core articles & missing articles lists at this stage as we are still preparing for the contest.— Rod talk 21:27, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
EU referendum map
A thought on reading your last comment, about how the referendum was not FPTP which is 100% true of course. A geographically accurate map doesn't work all that well ultimately, and a cartogram can work better. I will investigate possibilities there, I think I can create something there but it will take me a while.--Nilfanion (talk) 08:03, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Nilfanion:, a cartogram would be a wonderful image, but perhaps not best suited for the top of the article and the results page. If you do get round to it, it could be posted somewhere in the results page. The discussion on the use of the map is very heavy and difficult for me to follow right now, but hope that a graded colour scheme is ultimately used. Whatever the colour or graduation may be! The West Country Challenge
Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in participating in Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge in August. A chance to win £250 as well! If contests aren't your thing we welcome independent contributors too. If interested sign up at participants. Cheers!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:53, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

Retain GA status of Snow?
I concluded that the original state of the Snow article no longer passed GA muster. So, I followed the instructions at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment. Item 6. and 7. say, "6. Wait for other editors to respond. Do everything you can to improve the article during this time. During the reassessment discussion, you must decide if the article has improved enough to meet the good article criteria." During that period, I substantially rewrote the article to where it bears little resemblance to the original. I feel that it is close to GA eligibility, but feel awkward to be the one to declare it so, without input from others, given my extensive editing. Please leave your thoughts at Talk:Snow#Comments on rewrite. User:HopsonRoad 12:42, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:2016 Brussels bombings
Hello, Jolly Janner. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "2016 Brussels bombings".
In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Zupotachyon Ping me (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:41, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Format Parliamentary Diagram tool
In response to your message on my talk page, you'll be pleased to know that knowledge of Inkscape isn't necessary to make a composition diagram. A tool to make them quickly and easily is available via the link below and only requires you to input seat numbers and a hex colour code to create the diagram. If you check my sandbox you can see I've recorded the colours of the political parties you'll need at the top. If you want to edit the composition (for example for a defection) then you can either recreate the diagram or overwrite one of the circles on Inkscape (select it, click the eyedropper tool, click another circle with the correct colour, save). Be sure to acknowledge your use of this tool when you upload new files.
https://tools.wmflabs.org/parliamentdiagram/parliamentinputform.html
Since the total number of seats has changed you'll need to generate the diagram again using the tool so the 39 dots fits neatly in a semicircle. Maswimelleu (talk) 09:47, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
ITN recognition for Martin McGuinness
On 22 March 2017, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Martin McGuinness, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Ad Orientem (talk) 19:59, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
I can't understand the last change you've made in Sweden's and Australia's rank
The report p. 20, ranks Sweden at 10th place. Additionally, the report p. 23, states explicitly: "Australia 9th, Sweden 10th". HOTmag (talk) 07:54, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm still working off a spreadsheet so messed up the order after my latest edition. Jolly Ω Janner 08:16, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- As for the map you've added, please notice that it's almost impossible to distinguish between the darkest green and the darkest red. I would suggest another scale, from the lightest color to the darkest one. HOTmag (talk) 13:18, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- I am currently unconvinced that using one colour is the best solution. Both solutions have their advantages and disadvantages. Considering that very few countries are shaded by the darkest scale and considering their geographic location, in practice I don't think it causes enough confusion. I am currently working on mapping all of the columns (GDP, healthy life expectancy etc.) and will likely use red and green for them too. If you feel strongly enough on the issue, we could open it to a wider discussion with more editors involved. Once the maps are made, changing the shades should be a fairly easy affair. DYK nom with title in dispute?
Hi, I've recently expanded the article Skylab mutiny, but there is a lengthy discussion about the title of the article on its talk page. I'd like to make a nomination within the 7-day window, but realizing that the title is apt to go through a 30-day RfC shortly. Do you know of precedent? -- ke4roh (talk) 09:52, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Ke4roh: Nominate the article and point out that the title is in dispute. Given the amount of noms waiting for review, there is a good chance the dispute will be resolved before the nom is reviewed. I see a different problem though: The article had 6329 characters of readable prose before your expansion and now has 26663 characters of readable prose, so you are 4982 characters short of a 5x expansion and thus not eligible anyway. Regards SoWhy 10:13, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks! -- ke4roh (talk) 15:34, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Night of the undead listed at Redirects for discussion
An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Night of the undead. Since you had some involvement with the Night of the undead redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 14:00, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
The article Ken Foster has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NPOL as only a local councillor. Being Lord Mayor is not inherently notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bondegezou (talk) 11:46, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Nomination of Ken Foster for deletion
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ken Foster is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ken Foster until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Bondegezou (talk) 09:23, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
