What did you mean by this edit, removing the visual effects bit from the lead? That is perfectly acceptable, both as a record and as a summary of the article. Please discuss if you want to remove it again. Thanks. X.One SOS 07:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Cinema.currentweek
I went through the site currentweek.net, to decide upon its reliability and use. Strictly speaking, the self description seems good enough to establish its status as a regular news site, with the workers being regular journalists, hence it is a trustworthy one though not enough to contradict notable sources. Looking at the alexa rank, the site having started in 2009 seems to be growing really fast and achieved the place of 34000 within 2 years. But one barrier is their privacy policy, 1-b, which states that the site cannot be blamed for the accuracy of information it provides. But, that is not enough to degrade the whole site as we have no contradicting sources till now. The site, apparently is appearing to be a uniform, consistent and regular source, hence I wish to ask for your opinion. Please don't say that the site is bad just because it publishes "dubicious" content. We need sources directly contradicting it, in my view. X.One SOS 13:40, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- You don't open sites just to throw some numbers on films, and even if you do, the only way you can develop it without paying money is when you start a blog i.e. Self-published source. This site is not a blog, hence it pays to publish material. So what if it has been the only site to give the gross figures daily? You think that is impossible? If the film grossed high, this does not mean that it has done so just to give a champagne to the fans and distributors will naturally give out the numbers when asked. No other site might have made an attempt to do this, because of various reasons. That's their problem. Enthiran made 250c, just to please Rajini fans?? Or just to shut Bollywood? "No other site could provide such figures and nobody has any idea how only this site could conjure up these numbers." You'd better note down what the job of a news site is. Both films released in 1000 screens worldwide, and were heavily marketed as well. If you think such a minor spelling mistake like "there" for "their" throws the site into the bin, please look at this article. I'm not gonna quit, this site is good enough according to me and a few editors as well, and its worth mentioning when there is no site to contradict it. And PS. please reduce the use of the exclamation button. X.One SOS 13:08, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Please go through WP:EQ. Reducing the use of the exclamation button is not just my "liking". If you cannot even take an advice with good faith, what is the use of discussing? A collection need not be announced for the site to post it. The site can get it directly from the producers or the theatres. Any more instances of incivility, I will remove the comments from my talk page. Kindly do not indulge in activities that would result in you being seen in the bad-looks of users. Thank you. Paiyaa
Do you realize what you had done with this edit. Cinesouth and Kollywoodtoday are not reliable sources. You added all of it, which I replaced with better sources like Indiaglitz. "The film revolves around a journey of two people: a jobless carefree guy, living in Bangalore who struggles to get a job and a girl he falls in love with in a bus-stop. They both meet in a railway station and he is asked to escort her to Mumbai, while a group of gangsters follow them and wish to take away the girl to get her married. In the meanwhile, the guy also has a tale of the past in the city, and goes there to sort it all out." That is not at all long. Look at Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The article has a para describing what the plot of the film is in the lede. And the GA reviewer perfectly accepted that without question. "Bangalore, Karnataka, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai, Maharashtra." So much of linking, spoils the article. WP:OVERLINK says that "Avoid linking the names of major geographic features and locations, languages, religions, and common professions." And it was not only shot in Bangalore, but also in its outskirts and some other places in Karnataka. "The film released on 2 April 2010 to predominantly positive reviews"? 2.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 are mixed. Is there any positive review you have come across? If you have doubts, please edit only that section or start a discussion instead of restoring huge chunks of info sourced to unreliable sites. Thanks. X.One SOS 08:54, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'm glad that you have reduced the use of the exclamation button. Otherwise it sounds so bad, the editor will lose his/her feeling of being bold and arguing and will simply submit to the demands made by the arguer. That is totally an anti-wikipedian way. It is more of a Wikilawyering method. Coming to the point, yes I did undo your edit, but most of it I had fixed and I appreciate the fact that you are the top contributor to the article. If we put in a little effort, we will have a GA in our hands, so lets be collaborative instead of trying to make a solo performance. The production section must be in chronological order, yes my mistake. I apologize, period. You had removed a few reliable Oneindia and Indiaglitz sources, please retrieve them. We'll discuss whether they prove to be useful or not. I think I nominated it too soon, but due to the backlog, it'll take a few weeks for a reviewer to start this article. Coming to the reviews, a review is decided by its rating. Period. We cannot judge it as we like, that's total Original research. Do you have proof that the reviewer does not give the rating? It is not like ImDb. The generally accepted standard is to perceive the whole lot by their scores. I have come across many such instances of fights in Bollywood articles, and all editors have agreed to take the average rating and see. 2.5 and 3 mixed, 3+ positive and 2- negative. Again, this is the accepted standard. And even if I delete everything with one click, I'll try retrieving it. Let's discuss the article, individually. Thanks. X.One SOS 11:58, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, and please remove Cinesouth and Kollywoodtoday. I think both of us agree with their unreliability. We might have much better sources out there. X.One SOS 12:58, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, ya Mankatha does have potential but it needs much more work than this one. And also I'm planning to raise Dasavathaaram, which has already undergone and failed GA status. A lot of problems have been listed, and I feel the reviewer might not hold of for long, so we need to fix it soon. X.One SOS 16:05, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hey, no I was just giving an idea. We better not get distracted with other articles till the Paiyaa article is passed, and that may take some more time as there has been some issue with copy-editing and we might have to list it in WP:GOCE. X.One SOS 13:10, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Just to let you know, it has been decided in the past that italics for a site should be applied only when it is not an online-only entity i.e. only if it is a newspaper, magazine or news channel. Maatraan
Why did you remove the Stan Winston bit from the lede? X.One SOS 11:38, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Makes sense, but still I don't think Stan Winston (Legacy Effects) was recognized through Enthiran, because they did only the animatronics. V. Srinivas Mohan was the special effects supervisor of the film. But its better to wait till the film releases because, as you said we don't really know if they play a major part or not. Maatraan is an action thriller and not science fiction or any other genre that involves heavy use of VFX. X.One SOS 14:15, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Landmark Tamil Films
I've had a long desire to expand and elevate articles such as Mouna Raagam, Nayakan, Thalapathi and many more. However, finding sources for them is really a challenging task. These films deserve a great place in the history of Tamil cinema. When a film like Paiyaa can be elevated to GA status (no offense though), these films can very well be promoted as they have a lot of potential. To do that we need to collaborate, without which it's not going to be that easy. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:21, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- It was not intended to promote Paiyaa, I didn't even nominate it, but elevating its status was really dead easy. Promoting 80s or 90s Tamil films is anything but easy, if not even impossible. But yeah, I definitely would be interested and lend my support. We can try at least! Johannes003 (talk) 21:09, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words. If not GA, atleast we should try to make those articles more comprehensive. —Vensatry (Ping me) 21:15, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Tamil Films of 2012
Did you read my responses at least to the second one (saying that the films are simultaneously made instead of dubbed). Because you reverted it back as vandalism to another edit that doesn't even have to do with my edits. And that too, Yen Endraal Kadhal Enben, Naan Ee, and Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara? are bilingual films meaning that the film is actually made from scratch in both languages instead of being dubbed.
-Dav.subrajathan357
But the movie Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara? is still the title for both languages.
-Dav.subrajathan357
Oh, and by the way...the three films that are simultaneous in Telugu & Tamil that I listed are just like Siddharth's 180 and Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi (titled Love Failure in Telugu). These films weren't dubbed into Telugu but were simultaneously made at the same time. And also, if you look at other languages' film links (for ex. Telugu films of 2012 and Malayalam films of 2012), they include dubbed films. I will be adding back the three simultaneous films, but I will be awaiting for your reply on the dubbed films. Thanks.
-Dav.subrajathan357
Other languages' film industry Wikipedia links do include dubbed films (for ex. Telugu films of 2012-section:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telugu_films_of_2012#Dubbed_Films and Malayalam films of 2012-section:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayalam_films_of_2012#Malayalam_dubbed_films), so why not include it in the Tamil one? It is said that the former is the simultaneous version, with each shot retaken and not dubbed. in such cases, films which have been shot in more than one language should have seperate articles. - Agree with you. But I felt that the soundtrack of Neethane... has more info than the film itself, therefore I felt the article on the film could acquire at least B class status through its soundtrack. Guess only the reviews and box office performance can help it now... Kailash29792 (talk) 14:15, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Nominations for awards show possible importance. The requirements for passing speedy are only some good faith indication of improtance or significance. That's much less than notability. If you doubt notability uinder WP:FILM, use AfD . DGG ( talk ) 04:48, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Thuppakki new controversy
These sources New Indian Express, OneIndia, Deccan Chronicle, and Hindu have news on Thuppakki's latest controversy. Can u pls add them to the article? Kailash29792 (talk) 13:53, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!

For doing excellent copy-edit work on Thuppakki and Maattrraan, which almost no-one thought of doing. Keep up the good work, and don't ever quit. Kailash29792 (talk) 18:41, 4 December 2012 (UTC) |
Sana Khan
When you say, "Her father is a Malayali-Muslim from Kannur and her mother Saeeda is from Mumbai.", you imply that it is ONLY her father who is Muslim, while her mother could or could NOT be a Muslim. As evident from her mother's name name, wouldn't it be more appropriate to write "Sana Khan was born ..... to Muslim parents.... Her father is originally from Kannur, kerala; and her mother, Saeeda, is from Mumbai." The usage of the term "Malayali-Muslim" could be a little confusing. You don't have to stick to the exact verbiage of The Times of India. Also it is very relevant to add the name of the city where she grew up, i.e. Mumbai. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dealtroadd (talk • contribs) 09:45, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

I want ur help
Oh great master of copy editing, pls help improve this article Thengai Srinivasan (at least a little) with help from this source: [1], I'll reward u for it. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:25, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Well, the barnstar and title were given 2 u bcoz u had copy-edited Thuppakki so well, (in a manner i didn't think anyone could) I think its almost complete. it has protection from IP users till March 2013, so I'm sure the time is enough to make it a good article. Maattrraan however has a long way to go, though Kailash29792 (talk) 14:59, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Sana Khan
In response to a content dispute between you and User:Dealtroadd, I've fully protected the article on Sana Khan for a week. It'd be great if both of you could take your dispute to the talk page and discuss it there. If you could set out your position in a fair way without attacking the other, we might be able to find some way towards agreement. —Tom Morris (talk) 12:27, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for January 22
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Varun Sandesh, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bridgewater (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). for having edited and improved Thengai Srinivasan in a way I never imagined. though it is still far from GA status, I'll take care of the rest. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2013 (UTC) |
Filmfare
Hi Johannes, how are you doing? It's been a long time since we talked. Surprisingly we got the nominees list for 2001 South Filmfare Awards. But it's very unfortunate that we could not access the link to "past winners". It looks like they've redirected the link. Better luck with other sources :( —Vensatry (Ping me) 13:08, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
minor copyedit
i worked in getting Karnan (film) article to GA. but post GA, edits made sound subtly colloquial. can u pls scan the whole article and copyedit it? sorry to give u work, but I'm not completely great when it comes to writing professionally. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:43, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Never mind, but hav u got time to edit Thengai Srinivasan? it hugely needs that. with balanced info from these sources [2] and [3], the article is extremely capable of becoming a GA. Please take a rest from ur other edits, and focus on this, I'm taking leave for some time. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:05, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
- Is this sentence perfectly and formally written as it is supposed to be? "Karnan was also selected to be screened at the 10th Chennai International Film Festival in December 2012 with various older Indian films like Chandralekha and Pather Panchali, to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema." Sorry I'm a little bad at copy-editing, coz I'm a dude more than a gentleman. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 09:43, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
My next GA-to-be
Hi, sorry to keep giving u work, but this is important: I am planning on getting Parasakthi to GA status (even better if possible) and I have the best source containing maximum useful info. My photobucket account [4] contains images of a long article written by a film historian about the film in 1991, in a leading magazine. As I am going to be off my PC for some time, I request u to add some useful info from it. If not, pls tell some other senior editor to do so. Kailash29792 (talk) 18:54, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Answer
If you want to convey the message that a South Indian film would represent "the Indian film industry", then it's definitely you who is a "chauvinist" and even worse, misleading readers. What about Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, etc. The country of origin is listed in the infobox, and that is enough for Indian film articles. Any Indian film award goes by language, not by nation. I introduced the South Indian term to eliminate the rows of "Actor/Actress X appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam languages", since most multilingual actors have exactly done this plus in some cases Hindi. So to sum it up: Not only South Indian cinema is a medially well recognised and self organised film cluster of India, it enhances readability and informational value at the same time. If you have any proposals for a better handling of the listed issues, I'd invite you to talk about it.-- Dravidian Hero 00:02, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Oh and about my edit at Maryan: I added spaces after references, where there were not; standard formatting at WP.-- Dravidian Hero 00:12, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Adding space after references? You should not add unnecessary white spaces in articles. —Vensatry (Ping me) 06:03, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm following MOS:REFSPACE, MOS:PUNCTSPACE. no space before ref tag, but one after as seen in the examples.-- Dravidian Hero 09:36, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Have you followed the guideline? You introduced double spaces and unnecessary spaces where the ref marks the end of the paragraph/followed by a closing parenthesis. —Vensatry (Ping me) 05:58, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- That was an accident, which wasn't visible.-- Dravidian Hero 14:41, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

A consensus for multilingual films was build at Talk:Naan Ee with Telugu editors. I feel "Indian Tamil" "Indian Hindi" is a proselytizing terminology without any sources. This has never been used as such, it's just politically ridden. Better find another solution.-- Dravidian Hero 09:15, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Johannes, I told you, that there are certain established terms in the Indian film industry. All divide in language and Industries (yes, South Indian industry is an own industry category in all reputed media. Actresses are called "South Indian actress" etc.). There are 100000% more articles, that call Paradesi a "Tamil" film than "Indian" or even "Indian Tamil". I request you to present content solely per WP:NPOV, not per your personal likings. Vishwaroopam might be called an Indian film as it has been made in Hindi for a Pan-Indian audience, but this has not been discussed properly. And as for Maryan, I've requested you to present your objections at the talkpage as merely stating "trivia" in summary is not acceptable for such a bold emoval of sourced content.-- Dravidian Hero 14:38, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- So you admit, you are biased against the South Indian film industry, which is an often used term, even for Award shows. Yes, I'm very glad that the South industries work very close together as the movies get a much wider reach, higher budgets and better quality in the future. But the fact remains that it has no national scope as say Vishwaroopam. I don't understand your problem. Why are you trying to make it a personal problem? We need to merge multiple articles of same content, and a neutral way to describe those merged films without bias. And South Indian is most accurate and NPOV, and has been accepted. Why can't you? -- Dravidian Hero 13:03, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Bollywood has all rights to call itself Indian, as Hindi films have national appeal, unlike South Indian films, which are seen by South Indians only. It appears like you suffer from an inferiority complex because of this. We are all Indians regardless what language we speak or which language is "biggest". I adressed realities, how facts are, and you don't even care to read and understand them. WP:FILMLEAD requires like all other policies to present everything with reliable sources, and the vast majority of sources say Tamil/Telugu bilingual etc, not Indian. WP:FILMLEAD requires these sources, just to let you remember, and it nowhere states the country must be in lead at all, it's optional, because of ambigous situations like these.-- Dravidian Hero 13:16, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
