Changes to Toronto Irish FC wiki page

Hi,

I have noted your proposal for deletion of the Toronto Irish wikipage. I wanted to make sure you were better informed about our team and therefore didn't consider it a "not notable pub team". I have added all the information where possible in the page, and your objection was useful in making me realise that there was information lacking. Thanks for bringing that to light.

TIFC is joining the TSSL for the 2010 season. This is the biggest and most prestigious amateur league in Toronto. I was able to easily find another TSSL team page (Morton FC) which has not been objected to. I'm sure there are others if I had time to look.

The club is properly run with a committee, constitution, bank accounts, and articles of association.

The organisation has been of enormous help to players that have arrived in the city with no network to call on. It's particularly useful for those who don't play GAA and would otherwise not be able to get involved in the sport they love. As far as we're aware, we're the only Irish specific football team in Toronto.

Thanks for highlighting what needed to be added to our page. If you're ever in Toronto you're welcome to come and see our team in action

Take care

Patrick Dean(e)

Hello. Would you be able to confirm that Hibs' former under-19 player, recently joined Darlington, is spelt Patrick Deane with an 'e', as opposed to Patrick Dean (footballer) where the Darlo editor has created him? Darlington website says Deane, and there's no real reason to disbelieve them, other than general distrust of PTV club sites, but I don't want to start moving him unless I'm sure. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 11:24, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll move him. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
And thanks again :-) I would have moved him, if I hadn't been failing to do five things at once on a seriously intermittent internet connection... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:38, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Hibernian F.C. season 2001–02

Updated DYK query On January 31, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hibernian F.C. season 2001–02, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

I have yet to see a player/manager's clubs cited as you seem to think is appropriate anywhere on here. It's most certainly not the norm. I'm not sure how it is 'bizarre' to apply the median but I'll let the lack of AGF slide. In this case, citations are unnecessary, superflous and, if you want 'em up (whyever that may be) then I suggest we seek arbitration? --80.192.21.253 (talk) 13:06, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. You are being notified as you have made a number of contributions to the article. Co-ownership (football)

Hi, thanks for contributing to co-ownership (football). I started the article after searching for co-ownership to find out how it worked, and got re-directed to third party ownership in association football; quite clearly not the same thing! Grateful for your help so far expanding the article, I just wondered if you could add anything further regarding the intricacies of co-ownership, particularly what happens if a third club wants to buy the player outright (as opposed to one of the co-owners buying out the other party). Many thanks in advance! Grunners (talk) 15:51, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

BLP unreferenced tags

Hello Jmorrison230582. I wanted to ask if you would be willing to use the current date for the BLP unreferenced tags you are adding to old articles. I realize that some of these articles have not been referenced for many months or years, but we are trying to measure the progress at clearing the backlog of articles that have been tagged for months and years, and dating these tags with old dates give a false impression that they have been tagged for that entire period. I hope I've been clear, but please let me know if you have questions or would like to discuss further. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 19:16, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you have been adding your signature to some of your article contributions, such as the edit you made to José Salamanca. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thank you for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. tedder (talk) 02:31, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Akeem Ayayi-Taiwo

I suspect that I'm misunderstanding something, but I've declined the prod at Akeem Ayayi-Taiwo because the article says that he's gotten professional caps. Since it doesn't seem possible to me that someone could earn professional caps without being a professional, I don't think that the article should be deleted without discussion; please feel free to AFD the article if you think that it should be deleted. "Strange text" at Gordon Brown

Aye, I agree it's strange! alt text is provided for blind and visually impaired users; it tends to be very different to the usual text that other readers would see - while I can see that a photo might be of "a man" and all I need by way of a caption is to be told that the man is "Gordon Brown", visually impaired users need more detail.

...which is a long-winded way of saying: I reverted you, I'm sorry!

Doubtful Finnish Football Club Entries

In my Wikipedia work on Finnish Football Clubs I have come across the following 3 entries that give rise to concern:

Aseman Pallo: Whilst they are a Finnish football club they are not part of the Finnish Football League system.

Laakson Palloseura: I can find no evidence of a team with this name in the Finnish Football League system. It is a clear candidadte as a rogue entry in my opinion.

Lemlands IF: While this is a valid football club on the Åland Islands they participate at a very minor level and are not within the Finnish Football League system. However they could be likened to some of the Isle of Man clubs that we list.

I will leave you to assess whether any of the above entries should be deleted. One bench mark may be that none of the above clubs are listed among the 237 clubs within the Finnish Wikipedia Football Club Index - Suomalaiset_jalkapalloseurat

Many thanks for all your hard work on the WikiProject Football. It is much appreciated.

Laakson Palloseura Article

I make the following comments on the Laakson Palloseura article which has previously been proposed for deletion (refer User_talk:90.198.32.58):

1. There is no evidence that there is a club named Laakson Palloseura that is an affiliated club with the with the Helsingin piiri (Helsinki District) of the Suomen PalloLiitto (Finnish FA) and playing at a “notable level” within the 8 tiers of the Finnish_football_league_system.

2. There is no evidence of a stadium called Laakso Stadion with a supposed capacity of 4,000.

3. There is no evidence of Laakson Palloseura competing in the Kolmonen and finishing 4th in the 2008 or 2009 seasons in any of the 3 relevant sections administered by the Helsinki SPL and Uusimaa SPL.

4. There is no evidence of a website for a club named Laakson Palloseura or any Finnish language related material making reference to a club of this name.

5. LPS is the abbreviation for Laajasalon Palloseura which is a Helsinki based club.

It is quite possible that the author has misinterpreted Laakson Palloseura for Laajasalon Palloseura and I suggest that the position be now rectified by re-directing Laakson Palloseura to the Laajasalon Palloseura page.

Alternatively if there is proven evidence of a club called Laakson Palloseura which meets the “notability” criteria, I would be delighted to assist in developing the article from its current stub status. Finnish Gas (talk) 20:05, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Apologies

Hi there, JMORRISON, VASCO from Portugal here,

I apologize for repeatedly removing the "CD San Fernando players" category from Luna (footballer)'s page, won't happen again.

Now, i'll present my defense: I don't know if you are aware of this discussion (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#User:Zombie433) about User:Zombie433, he does not want to interact with people, he has no English skills. When people try to approach him and help him with his Modus Operandi, what does he do? Removes messages, without a word of reply!

Speaking about the specific subject of categories: he over-categorizes, creating cats for ALL the clubs in the world, first to fifth division, whether players have only appeared there as youths or not. I mean, i agree that all the clubs in the world, from Real Madrid to AS Vita Club, deserve the same respect, but it is too much in my opinion - that, coupled with the fact he does not talk to anyone, unless it is a German user writing in German, set me up to undo all his contributions.

That said, in LUNA's particular case, sorry again for any mishap, won't revert the category again. Cheers, keep up the good work - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for assessing Johnny McNichol. Was wondering if you could find the time to tell me what it needs to make the difference between C and B? trying to get it straight in my own mind more than anything. Was thinking of possibly taking it on to good article, if I can find a decent Crystal Palace-related source, I know that section's a bit skimpy. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 09:32, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

2010-11 Scottish Premier League

Hi. I was wondering what your reasoning was for deleting the "Positions by Round" table on the SPL page for this season? I put a wee bit of time into it, because I saw similar tables on a few of the other leagues this season and thought it was a useful addition. I don't edit pages that regularly, so maybe it didn't follow one of the rules for editing or something, but it seemed useful and interesting to me. Cheers, Craig.

Scott Brown

Hello Jmorrison, I made this edit to Scott Brown that may be contenetious and I wanted your input to see if it was ok. Thanks Adam4267 (talk) 23:35, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeh thanks for that, Wikipedia:Video links says that you can sometimes have links to youtube but I think the one I put up was probably copyrighted. I want to do a bit of work on his page because the Celtic section is quite poor especially if you compare it with the Hibs section which is really good. I wanted to ask what you thought about this US politician having the Scott Brown page, he doesn't seem more notable than the footballer so I think Scott Brown sould be a disambiguation page. Adam4267 (talk) 20:37, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeh I suppose your right, can I ask you help about properly doing sources is their a way to easily package them? Adam4267 (talk) 20:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Yep that hatnote is a pretty good idea, I suppose Broonie's notability is much more fluid although I would think he is probably more notable here. Do you think we could get his page to a GA? Adam4267 (talk) 22:07, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I want to add more to the Celtic section before nominating for Peer review and possibly GA, I think the Celtic section may need to be split up in some way I was thinking Pre-captaincy, Post-Captaincy. Adam4267 (talk) 18:13, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Wondering if you might be able to help. Just created the above player who made his debut today for Hibs. Slight problem is im convinced if used the wrong details. Hibs have his date of birth making him as 1985 making him 26. It then goes on to say he played for the under 19s last year and also soccerbase has his date of birth as 1985. There is another David Crawford who played for ayr united who was born in 1985. Im wondering if they have been confused as i believe hibs david crawford was on loan there. Any advice would be great. HM Advocate v Muirhead and McKenzie Is this article appropriate? I was going to list for deletion but I am not sure because it is a court case and I do not know what the rules are relating to them. Thanks. Adam4267 (talk) 21:46, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Garry O'Connor

I saw you removed the drugs story earlier and did not necessarily agree but let it stand. However I have just removed a longer and more sketchily-sourced version. It is something we will need to address in article talk I think. Could you chip in there? --John (talk) 08:10, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Would you mind if i add your recent articles that fall within the task force to the above page or would you be willing to do it. Just so we can keep track as how well we are doing as a group. Warburton1368 (talk) 22:03, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

The article Matt Gray has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Books

i have decided to give the Hearts page a complete rewrite as its badly sourced and inaccurate in places. Started it at User:Edinburgh Wanderer/Hearts New Layout but will take a whilst. Just wondering if you know of any good books regarding football in Edinburgh that i could use as sources. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:40, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

List of Livingston F.C. managers

When i created the article i was aware that entering europe was not technically an honour however given its only happened once it is certainly a notable moment. Given that Leishman is down as first manager. Thats not an honour but a notable moment shall we say. I propose we changing title to notable achievements or moments. I would appreciate a reply here or on my talk page. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:50, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

If you have only qualified once then to me thats an achievement. If you qualified a lot or to me even a few times then i agree mentioning it isnt correct but if its the first and only time then why not. Livingston actually list it as an honour on their site which if they did all the time i would disagree with. Thats why i suggested changing main title from honours or maybe adding another column for notes. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:10, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

GA Reviews

I think between us we have done everything the reviewer asked. Great job on finding the stuff about his early career BTW. I will try and improve Hooper's page over the next few days. Thanks for reviewing those articles, I thought I would have to wait months like for Brown for someone to review them. Although it is kind of hard to do more than one page at a time. So I would appreciate it if you would give me into next week to finish off Hoooper's article. Adam4267 (talk) 22:04, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi could you please contiue the review at Gary Hooper, I think I have done everything you asked but any more points you would like addresed I will try and finish off this morning. Thanks. Adam4267 (talk) 10:12, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi could you please finish Gary Hooper's review. If you do not want to can you please say and I will ask someone else to do it. Adam4267 (talk) 14:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for finishing the GA review. Adam4267 (talk) 09:30, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

assessment

I see you assessing some articles such as Sebastián Martínez. FYI, there hasn't been just a "priority" parameter in the WikiProject Biography banner for a few years. Please use sports-priority, musician-priority, politician-priority, etc. Bgwhite (talk) 22:31, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Ibrox.jpg

Hi I removed your proposed deletion from File:Ibrox.jpg under F6. I don't see any claim on the file that it is non-free content and therefore is requiring a rational. Indeed the uploader claims ownership and has released it to the public domain. As to [image on the Rangers website]. It's not the same image. Obviously they are similar, as you'd expect, they're plans of the same stadium. But I see no evidence that one is a copy of the other. They are different dimensions and have different details. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:05, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Scotland Assessment

Thanks for improving the assessment part of the task force change. However on the discussion page the consensus was that Scotland Internationalist were classed as High, under 21's mid and SPL players at mid as well. Reading between the lines that dosent appear to be the case with your changes. If thats the case then we need to take back to a discussion to make sure we are tagging at the same assessment level. If I'm wrong then we need to make the page a bit clearer. Edinburgh Wanderer 00:00, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
