. Floquenbeam (talk) 22:17, 30 October 2019 (UTC)I hate to block someone apparently editing in good faith, but the copyright issues have been explained to you before, and you're continuing to make them without discussing them with the people who point out the problems. When you've demonstrated that you understand our copyright policies (linked several places above), and agree not to do this anymore, any admin can unblock you without checking with me first. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:19, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi everyone. I just figured out how to talk on Wikipedia (clearly very new at this). I am so sorry for all the trouble. I have tried reaching out in order to get assistance on knowing for sure what to do when it comes to editing on Wikipedia or adding new sections. I must be very confused. After finally finding the guidelines, I noticed that I was adding information incorrectly. I assure you that, now knowing the information of what I am supposed to do, that I will no longer 'copy, paste, and add the source' (which I thought made it allowable), and rather rewrite in my own words and then add sources to back up my statements. I apologize once again for my mistakes and want to reaffirm that it won't happen again! If I ever need help, I now know how to ask!
Accept reason:
this unblock request appears to acknowledge the reason for your block (you didn't really understand what you were doing), and you confirm that you will not repeat the problems; since the blocking administrator has explicitly stated that he is not averse to another admin unblocking without checking with him, I am hereby lifting your block. GirthSummit (blether) 16:36, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- Further to the above, please do ensure you have read and understood the policies linked to above on copyright violations. If in doubt about whether something is permitted, you're welcome to my talk page to check. Any further violations of this policy will likely lead to your account being reblocked. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 16:39, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for promotion or advertising, as you did at Miami Beach, Florida. - Donald Albury 14:09, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
What was promotional?? Can you explain?— Preceding unsigned comment added by JclarkeFLA (talk • contribs) 9:20, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion, and, in particular, the section on Advertising, marketing or public relations., which says:
Information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery. All article topics must be verifiable with independent, third-party sources, so articles about very small garage bands or local companies are typically unacceptable. Wikipedia articles about a company or organization are not an extension of their website or other social media marketing efforts. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they identify notable organizations which are the topic of the article. Wikipedia neither endorses organizations nor runs affiliate programs. See also Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for guidelines on corporate notability. Those promoting causes or events, or issuing public service announcements, even if noncommercial, should use a forum other than Wikipedia to do so. Contributors must disclose any payments they receive for editing Wikipedia. See also Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. - Donald Albury 21:45, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Those Promotional Edits
[edit]Hello, Jclarke. I noticed you've been given some warnings for advertising and you were unsure what about your edits were advertisements. I looked at them and am going to pull out some phrases which sound promotional.
- "innovative and monumental approach" - according to who?
- "Whether feeding the homeless or walking in gay parades, this community is all about inclusivity. Included in this church are ministries for youth and choir, baptism and wedding opportunities, memorials, and venue rentals." - sounds like something you would find in a pamphlet to sell services.
- The whole digital prayer section sounds like an ad for the service.
However, I think the whole thing gives WP:UNDUE weight to this particular church. What makes this church special that it gets its own section in the Miami Beach article? Everything on wikipedia needs to be backed up by a reliable source. That source should not be a primary source. There should be significant coverage to indicate importance. Lastly, I see that you inserted the same material a second time after you were reverted. One of the more important policies in Wikipedia is the Bold-Revert-Discuss Cycle. Be bold, edit an article. However, if you get reverted, the next step is to discuss your changes on the talk page. Every article has a talk page to discuss that article.
I realize I'm throwing a lot of information at you at once, if you need help feel free to reach out. My access will be limited for the next week or so, but I'll be here after that. Although I don't have many edits, I'm usually lurking around.--Darth Mike(talk) 15:09, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
