Hello, Jayzlimno. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Wikipedia:WikiProject Limnology".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 22:28, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jayzlimno! You created a thread called Automated WikiProject tagging at Wikipedia:Teahouse, but it has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days. Limnology and Oceanography articles categories

[edit]

Hello, Jayzlimno,

I noticed that you recreated these categories even though they are not being used. Could you please assign parent categories to them so they are not isolated? That would tie them into a WikiProject or wherever else they might be used, they'd be part of Wikipedia categorization organization. Doing that would help avoid deletion but they should really be used with articles assigned to these categories or they are likely to be deleted in the future. Empty categories that are not being used are regularly deleted on Wikipedia. Liz Read! Talk! 02:03, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, sorry about that. I will assign parent categories and articles to the L&O article category. Thanks, Liz! Jayzlimno (talk) 14:41, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

trying to see how the scope of wikiproject oceans can be re-written

[edit]

I recently re-activated wikiproject oceans - and think, just think, I can see how the two projects - oceans and limnology and oceanography can co-exist very well - but I need at least one editor involved in the setup of the newer and much smaller by edit project - to see if there can be some ground for a good positive discussion about the scopes. I would really appreciate if I could have the discussion with you - but if there is a problem with that - someone on the newer project you might recommend... The issues are simply working out where one starts and the other ends in the scope and category tree - I think it can be done, just hope I find some opportunity to work it out with someone ! cheers JarrahTree 00:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reaching out JarrahTree, and I'm glad to hear that WP Oceans is back up and running! I'd be happy to discuss the scope of both projects and how they can coexist - should we have that here or on one of the WP talk pages? What were your thoughts on the scope for WP Oceans? Jayzlimno (talk) 14:15, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For starters oceanography from my university days, would suggest processes - while oceans seems more geopolitical - IMO things - if we could come to some personal levels here - then take it to the two projects - oceanography reminds me of newspapers - new - low level edits but more sensible to be paired with journalism - so with oceans and oceanography something similar - just as long as we don go the way of espionage and intelligence - that was a horrible mistake - or transport /maritime task force - if we can keep separate projects with coherent and intelligibly apart scopes - would be very good. JarrahTree 20:33, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds like a reasonable split, JarrahTree. I think that's similar to the split between Limnology and WP Lakes or WP Rivers where the later two are more focused on specific water bodies or more geopolitical (like you said). We'll continue to try to refine our scope along these lines - apologies if there is a little overlap in the beginning as we are expanding, giving workshops to scientists, and newcomers might also bring along their own definition of what oceanography means to them. Feel free to check in on the WP L&O talk page if you have any concerns. Cheers, Jayzlimno (talk) 19:35, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

/* Education */ Introducing my upcoming Wetland Ecology course and associated student editors

[edit]

I just wanted to reply to you here so that I don't clutter the Project page.

  • Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I am really excited to get the project going with my students. I am new to the Wikipedia editing community and it certainly seems overwhelming right now but the WikiEdu dashboard has been so incredibly helpful. Their training is great and I think my students will be well prepared for this assignment.
  • If everything goes well, I would love to contribute some kind of "lessons learned" section and maybe some resources.
  • The logo for WP L&O is beautiful, I would love a few stickers. Would you be able to send me 8? Can I email you my address?
KHillWells, glad to hear that the WikiEdu dashboard is helpful - from what I briefly saw, it seems like an excellent tool with lots of assistance if needed. Yes, I can ship you 8 stickers, just email me your address at jayzlimno[at]gmail[dot]com Jayzlimno (talk) 18:34, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
