Article of the month – 2010 Carfax 400, a Good Article
The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway. There were five cautions and nineteen lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race, Harvick's third win of the season. The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. A total of 105,000 people attended the race, while 4.917 million watched it on television. File permission problem with File:Vampiro At Nitro.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Vampiro At Nitro.jpg, which you've sourced to google. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Autism, makes articles harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. You might want to give this manual a good read in regards to your edit at Autism. Thanks! Lighthead þ 01:40, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Pieces of Both Genitalia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wyatt Riot (talk) 15:02, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Keep this mind
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Wikipedia is not a place to socialize or do things that are not directly related to improving the encyclopedia, as you did at User:Jayemd/WikiFame. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing this website, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia (please see WP:NOT for further details). Thank you.
P.S. Now don't panic, it was, out of altruistic concern, just a friendly tip to bear in mind. Thanks again. Mrt3366 (Talk page?) (New section?) 16:07, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:The fight to end vandalism
I'm not so sure that Wikipedia:The fight to end vandalism is necessary. Besides duplicating the message of Wikipedia:Vandalism, it promotes the idea that somehow vandalism is acceptable or at least tolerated in the Sandbox, users' own user pages, and humor pages. Please keep in mind that the Sandbox has its own "rules" by community consensus (see WP:BADSAND for more), as do user pages, which restrict what most people would consider "vandalism". New edit war
New edit war Kashmir conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Do something. Explain the issue to the user. That might be helpful. Mrt3366(Talk?) (New thread?) 11:57, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Your advice at Talk:Kashmir conflict
Hi Jayemd, I find myself a bit mystified by a couple of pieces of advice you dispensed at Talk:Kashmir conflict. You seem to be suggesting, here, that the disagreeing editors should not use the talk page to discuss their differences. The arguments put forward immediately before your post were reasonably constructive, on the lines of "I think x because of y" -- "well, I disagree because of z", and that is how Wikipedia articles are built. In fact, another uninvolved editor invited the users in question to discuss the issue on the talk page, higher up in that section. What is the reason for trying to prevent the discussion from taking place? There is no incivility present in the discussion. In a previous piece of advice, here, you suggest that the editors should never explain their edits unless explicitly asked to do so, which goes against WP:EDITSUMMARY. Again, this frankly mystifies me. Why advise editors to "only explain your edit if you are asked by other users" -- have you noticed any problems associated with editors over-explaining their edits?
Finally, please do not "fix" spelling and grammar in other editors' signed posts, on talk pages, user talk pages or pages such as Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not/Outtakes. For one thing, there is a risk of introducing new errors, as you did here (changing the correct "whose" to the incorrect "who's"). And even when there is a grammar or spelling error, it is considered inappropriate behaviour to edit others' comments except for a few specific cases, as described here. Thanks! --bonadea contributions talk 16:24, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Enough with the Justin Bieber jokes
Wikipedia isn't a social network, and that means we don't make jokes about Justin Bieber or other people in articles. These border on WP:BLP violations, which can and will result in blocks and bans. Wyatt Riot (talk) 17:08, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
welcome templates
Jayemd, what, in your opinion, is the purpose of welcoming new users who have never edited and thanking them for all their contributions? I would be interested to know. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:29, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Try your best
- does not mean creating essays for the purpose of creating essays - we already have around 2,000 essays, most of which hardly ever get read. I strongly feel that to avoid this being sent to MfD you should move it to your user space until it has some useful content. Many of us leave our essays in our user space anyway, even if they provide very good advice. By doing so, they can't be interfered with by other users. They can still be linked to though. Request reason:
I apologize for my destructive behavior on Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. I love Wikipedia. I have enjoyed my days as a Wikipedian since my first edit on May 17th, 2012. I realize what I did was blatantly wrong and unnecesary, such as calling Brits "attention rapists", the "divided condom", etc., and creating the redirect page "Pieces of Both Genitalia", as well as the Sockpuppetry incident. All I ask from you is one more shot. --Jayemd (talk) 21:54, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Your behavior says otherwise. I've removed your talk page access, since you only seem interested in personal attacks and general insults. If you wish to be unblocked, I suggest you contact WP:UTRS or WP:BASC with a more convincing unblock request. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 01:52, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- WP:OFFER is that one more shot, though I personally think, even excluding the British-related content, your userpage in general was a little tangential to the project (userpages shouldn't be too off-topic). I'm glad, however, that you at least can realize what you did wrong, though I'm not entirely convinced you'll stop things like this (you should know very well about WP:BLP by now, at the very least). However, this is not the end of the world - wait at least a year before trying to return. There is much improvement you can achieve towards fixing the competance problems that you're blocked for in that timeframe, trust me. However, I suggest no unblock for now.-Jasper Deng (talk) 01:17, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- And as the target of your last rant, I will say that I'm not bothered by it (I've heard plenty worse in my life) but that it's not doing you any favors. I'm willing to let that go as simple frustration from being blocked, but I don't think any other admin would be; as someone with a related disorder, I get how hard this is to do, but calm down and think it through. This block isn't intended to be permanent, only until we can be sure you get your previous mistakes and can avoid making them again. In all seriousness, come back when you really feel like you get it and follow the links given to you above; the community can sometimes be surprisingly forgiving. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 05:34, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- I can't take that ragequit seriously; it looked like a deliberate attempt at drama. I'm not convinced that you're naturally so dramatic. ;-)
- You're still welcome to email me &c but I would strongly recommend that you step back a little and think about what editing is for. We're all supposed to be improving an encyclopædia; the other community stuff, essays, &c is really just there to support the encyclopædia-improvers, it's not a goal in itself. And if you're not happy working towards the same goal as everyone else, then continuing to edit here isn't going to be good for any for the parties. bobrayner (talk) 11:06, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Vampiro At Nitro.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Vampiro At Nitro.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Anome (talk) 06:54, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
