Chinese townships

Hi. On some of your recent chinese township pages, (ex:Bachigang), the title in the infobox is "Jaguar/Sandbox/3". I just wanted to point this out before you create too many more. --Hockeyben (talk) 20:45, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

PS:The article title is also Jaguar/Sandbox/3. --Hockeyben (talk) 20:46, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Oh! Sorry for my mistake! I'll be reverting them straight away. Jaguar (talk) 20:46, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
It happens. Just thought i'd point it out before you created too many more. --Hockeyben (talk) 20:47, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Note that your Anhui stubs are being referenced to the Hebei page on the reference website. The He symbol needs changing to An or whatever it is.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:04, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

OK, thanks for telling me that. I'll update the reference in the sandbox so that would mean no more mistakes. Jaguar (talk) 13:05, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Symbol is ah.The link you want is http://www.xzqh.org/html/ah/Dr. Blofeld 13:07, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that, I have updated. Jaguar (talk) 13:10, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

And this, stop you using old dates].♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:16, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

I didn't know that {{currentdatemonthyear}} existed. That's going to be very helpful for creating the stubs, thanks. Jaguar (talk) 13:19, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
I noticed that you have been using {{Currentdaymonthyear}} in the |accessdate= parameter of {{Cite web}}. Unfortunately, {{Currentdaymonthyear}} always shows today's date, not the date that you saved your edit. This is inappropriate, since |accessdate= is meant to record the day that you accessed a reference. Editors need to know that date in case the link ever needs to be repaired in the future. Please do not use {{Currentdaymonthyear}} in |accessdate=; instead, write the date on which you accessed the reference. Blevintron (talk) 15:31, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I had just noticed that two days ago, thanks for telling me. I'm not going to use that anymore. Jaguar (talk) 15:41, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Blevintron (talk) 15:44, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

I would appreciate it if you could add Interwiki links to Chinese Wikipedia for these townships.--Frysun (talk) 09:15, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind - but I don't know a word of Chinese! Jaguar (talk) 16:14, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Ropley Primary School

Hi Jaguar; I've reverted your return of the information to Ropley CofE Primary School. No one is doubting that the information in the article is correct. The problem is, the school itself is not notable enough to have a Wikipedia article. In fact, as a general rule, the overwhelming majority of primary schools aren't notable enough for an article. The only way it would be is if multiple, independent reliable sources had discussed the school in detail. All of the references in that article were either self-published sources (like the "milleniumschools" page), which aren't reliable, or are written by the school itself, or in the case of the exam report, aren't actually discussing Ropley primary in detail, just reporting on the results for a large number of schools. If you know of independent, reliable sources that discuss the school, we can consider keeping it as a stand-alone article, but if not, per WP:Common Outcomes#Schools, we should redirect it to the city or school district page as I have done. If you insist, I can open an article for deletion discussion on the issue, though this outcome is pretty much standardized now. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:50, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, now I understand that the article is not notable enough (although I am confused by this because there are plenty of other primary school in the area that still have their own articles), I wouldn't mind it being kept as a redirect. I must admit that I purely wrote the article off by heart and many of the sources didn't really back up most of the history section anyway. Maybe it is better off being a redirect until better sources can be found (which I doubt that the school itself would release, the school has a tradition that when you reach the last year you uncover its true history!). Your recent contributions

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Thanks for your run of new China-related articles. A significant contribution that truly improves the encyclopedia. Northamerica1000(talk) 12:03, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much! China is the world's most populated nation, so my aim is to create every available village in it. It would be a great achievement. Anyway, thanks for the barnstar. Jaguar (talk) 13:22, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

The article Project Dream‎ has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Bentworth

What on earth are you doing? The lead doesn't need references.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:55, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh god, I haven't been on Wikipedia for so long I think I'm losing it! Jaguar (talk) 20:56, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Please trust me on this and leave it. I know what I'm doing but I can't edit it while you are. I will have it up to GA level in a day or two. It needs a lot of work if it is to pass and the biggest problem is the unformated sources. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:00, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

OK, I've removed the refs from the lead. Thanks for doing this. If you need any help you know where I am. Jaguar (talk) 21:02, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Yeah you just reverted some of my ref fixes as well! Don't worry I've sorted that out now, notice how the refs are starting to be formatted. Its gonna take a day or two. My first impressions when I first saw the article would have been an immediate fail and it would still fail in its current state but I should be able to whip it into state. I've been looking for an English village actually to edit as a challenge and I'll try to see it through, especially given the amount of times its failed. Just trust me on this and you'll see how it'll look in a day or two.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:15, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks and sorry about reverting those ref fixes! I knew that at once the article would fail since User:Ukiws nominated it as it was him who took over the article. I started editing Bentworth back in 2010 in hopes of getting it to GA, but I had failed three times in a row. When Ukiws took over while I was retired, he put in a LOT of local knowledge in there but none of it was in great format! Anyway, thanks for doing this. Jaguar (talk) 21:19, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
If anybody has started a GA review please tell them it is in the middle of undergoing major editing and ask them to put it on hold.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:32, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

What is the source for the distribution of houses and table data for Demographics? Is it 2001? Can you find me the source?♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:43, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

This link covers the households in the whole parish and this link covers all the people. The whole list can be found here. I hope that this is what you're looking for? Jaguar (talk) 10:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

I nominated Bentworth for GA as the other editor didn't do it properly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:16, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

That's great news, thank you! I've been trying to get Bentworth to GA since June 2010, but the first review didn't go that well. Now it has a much greater chance of passing, my Wikipedia career will feel complete. Thanks again. Jaguar (talk) 17:05, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
At first glance, the demography section needs some work. While mentioning the population at Domesday is useful (though speculative) it goes into too much detail for that section regardin tax and land use. The last few sentences repeat the population change table, and overall there's not much information aside from the population. It's not detailed enough for an aspiring GA, and there's nothing on religion in Bentworth. I know of a couple of Good Articles on civil parishes which I can use as a template for the Bentowrth article. While the effort that's gone into overhauling the article should be commended I'd have liked to see some more interaction with Ukiws. They appear to be an enthusiatic editor interested in improving this article and might expand other articles. If that's the case, they would have learnt a lot more had they been involved in the recent changes. Nev1 (talk) 17:13, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Ukiws lives in Bentworth Hall himself - if there's anybody who knows Bentworth more than any of us it's definately him although I was the one who originally expanded the article in 2010 ;). Ukiws hasn't been on Wikipedia for a very long time and Wikipedia does take some getting use to, so it would be great to see him use some of his knowledge into other villages. As for the demography section, I could expand that later but I'm off to Heathrow Airport at midnight tonight to meet a German. How things change! Jaguar (talk) 18:37, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Does he really, how intriguing. Well it passed GA anyway, I told you to trust me didn't I! Religion is covered in the church section I believe, is it possible to write about it separately. If you can, by all means do so, but I'd like to get into contact with Ukiws.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:45, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

That's great news, doc! My Wikipedia career is nearly complete now Bentworth is a Good Article - you performed a small miricle. Anyway, I think that I met Ukiws in person before - he told me something about Bentworth Hall; one of its rooms is as big as a house. Unfortunately, Bentworth Hall is nearly impossible to get to as not only is it in private grounds, but it is enclosed by its own wood. The closest I got to it once last year was somewhere in its fields where I shouldn't have been! I have never seen a modern photo of Bentworth Hall apart from the one I took, but it is zoomed in and its quality is very poor. Jaguar (talk) 17:50, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
I've started a stub on Bentworth Hall. Jaguar (talk) 14:01, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Townships

Please be careful. You not only have the source pointing to Anhui you also have the wikilink for the province in the township link pointed to Anhui. Please fix your template. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:31, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me, doc. I need to add that to my famous User:Jaguar/Sandbox/3. Jaguar (talk) 20:41, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

You still haven't changed it!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:47, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I could have sworn I did with this difference in the sandbox. All my recent articles are linking to Fujian. Is there something wrong with the reference? Jaguar (talk) 17:04, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

You did but your new articles still have ah linking to Anhui in the ref links.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:25, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I see, I've double checked and fixed that small typo. Thanks for telling me. Jaguar (talk) 19:28, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Finally LOL.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:03, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

West Worldham

The evil one has tabs on the entire world!♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:48, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Again that's weird because I spent the last two days starting to write a book about haunted hotels and inns of Great Britain.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:23, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

GAN preparation

Hi, i saw one of your great GA reviews and wanted to ask you if you can do a short check whether Jambo OpenOffice has any potential chance to get promoted. (I now that it would need a copyedit and other small changes - I only ask content and sources related) My problem is that I simply can't find any more information/good sources and this project seems dead (even the project leader doesn't respond on mails). I chose you also especially since you don't edit in technical / computer-related topics and I really need a fresh opinion. mabdul 12:44, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that message (what great GA review was you referring to? Dorset?). Anyway, I had a look at Jambo OpenOffice and I can say that it has a chance of getting promoted, however at its current state the article is too short and would need an expansion or a little more information on the subject. I understand that the project is inactive and getting more information would be hard, but if it was to pass GA it would need some more information and writing about it. I know virtually nothing about computers or software but I would be happy to take a look at it as it this article is possible to get to GA! (Well any article is possible to get to GA!). Regards :-D Jaguar (talk) 13:36, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it was Dorset. Thanks, I will check if I can do something related to this... Heh, bad that the original coordinator isn't responding to my mail. mabdul 21:50, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
Literally just an extension and an improvement on the lead would make it eligable for GA. I only focus on copy editing stuff, so the sources on the article look fine. As of all, any article has a chance of making it to GA! Jaguar (talk) 16:07, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Howdy, the link you seem to be using in all of the new township articles you're creating seems to be broken. Perhaps it would be wise to include a fixed link. --TeaDrinker (talk) 16:26, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Whoops, thanks a lot for telling me! I'll see if I can fix that ref. Jaguar (talk) 16:27, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
I've fixed that link - it appears that the website had changed their links or something. Thanks for pointing that out. Jaguar (talk) 16:33, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
