[edit]Disambiguation link notification for December 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2006 IIHF Men's InLine Hockey World Championship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pfaffenhofen. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Vovkivtsi, Borshchiv Hromada moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Vovkivtsi, Borshchiv Hromada, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 17:39, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Vovkivtsi, Borshchiv Hromada. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:47, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, Hockeyben,
- You should not cut & paste an article on to another page. You should either work on the draft article or move the draft back into main space. Now we have 2 separate articles on the same subject with 2 separate edit histories which should be avoided. Please do not do this again. Liz Read! Talk! 01:49, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, my mistake. I was the only significant editor of the article, so the page histories shouldn't matter much, at least.--Hockeyben (talk - contribs) 03:15, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Re: Timra IK seasons
[edit]Hi Bamsefar75. Where did you get the Provincial level standings on the List of Timrå IK seasons from? I am searching for complete standings featuring all the teams in these competitions. Do you know if they are available and where they can be found if so? Thanks. Hockeyben (talk - contribs) 20:10, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Hockeyben. Thank you for asking! I used several pages from the 1995 book Timrå IK - en klassiker on the subject, which I suppose is a secondary source. Someone has since removed this reference and several others as well, without mentioning why or replacing them. First I added them in this version in 2006, then the name Bert Edholm, one of the book authors, was added in this version in 2007 by @CLAES. Five years later, said refernces were removed in this 2012 version by @Saint0wen, perhaps by accident. I don't think anybody noticed, and I was not very active here at the time. Anyway, regionally it is a well known book, which states three authors responsible for research: Bert Edholm, Bertil Littmar and Hans-Gösta Vikberg. The book also lists its sources, but only in this fashion:
- Strömbergs Idrottsböcker
- Brunnhages Idrottsböcker
- Svenska Ishockeyförbundets Ishockeybok
- Sundsvalls Tidning
- Dagbladet
- Aftonbladet
- Expressen
- I have the 1995 book myself, and it lists some statistics for the Medelpad province up to the 1947–48 season on pages 53 through 81. However, I recall that sometimes the book disagreed with other sources, if there where any available (see the link above to the sources removed in 2012). The book is also refered to in Swedish at the bottom of the page Dubbeltallen.se Historik.
- -- Bamsefar75 (talk) 17:19, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello again. Thank you very much for your reply. I checked several Swedish online bookstores for a copy of Timrå IK - en klassiker and was unable to find it anywhere, so I am wondering if you would be willing to send me any standings for the Medelpadsserien found in the book up to 1948? I would greatly appreciate it as this info is extremely difficult to come by. (...) --Hockeyben (talk - contribs) 18:24, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sure, sounded like fun, so I scanned, used online OCR and did some editing with the plaintext result below to make it simple for me. I also included the first season in the Swedish nationwide league system at the end. As I hinted before, you will find that our sources sometimes disagree (see 1937/38). [edit]haven't seen you editing much over the last few years, hope you are well. Anyway, found something interesting pouring through archives of IIHF championships; from 1982 through 1987 it appears that there may have been 1st and 2nd team media all-star selections at the world hockey championships (found here). Have you ever heard of this, or seen it anywhere else? The IIHF guide and record book does not show it, not sure what to make of it. 18abruce (talk) 19:16, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, nice to hear from you again! It’s been quite sometime. I am doing fine, hope you are as well. I still try and stop by on occasion, though definitely not as much as I used to. As to your question, it seems these second all-star selections (which went up to 1993, with the exception of 1989) are not formally recognized by the IIHF, though still interesting nonetheless. I am friends with the guy who runs Hockey Archives, and all his info is sourced from books/newspapers, so they are definitely legitimate. I think they’d probably be worth including in the World Championship articles, personally. --Hockeyben (talk - contribs) 20:50, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:David Cutcliffe 2021.jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:David Cutcliffe 2021.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:52, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
