Hi
[edit]Hi Jackson Friedman. If you'd like help with your politician article, I'm available. Who are they? Herostratus (talk) 15:02, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
hi back
[edit]Is this how i talk to you? am i doing this right? sorry, new at this. Jackson Friedman (talk) 15:31, 28 March 2021 (UTC)jackson
- Yes, Jackson Friedman correct, this is how we talk. A conversation stays on one talk page, where it started. So rather than going back-and-forth between each others talk page, which can be confusing.
- As you can see, I have indented my response here one space; that helps to see each separate post. This is done by by putting a colon in front of each paragraph.
- In your reply, you would put two colons, to indent the text two spaces. My reply to that...
- ...would use three colons, and so forth. Herostratus (talk) 11:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
So, keep on, what other questions do you have? And do you have a particular person in mind that you want to write about? Herostratus (talk) 11:26, 29 March 2021 (UT
- The person I'd like to write about is Cesar "Jawo" Jimenez Jr. , sitting congressman for the 1st District, Zamboanga City, Philippines. I"m currently reading all the newspapers in the Philippines for citable facts. So I am in the info gathering stage at this point. I could use advice on the various templates you anticipate i would be needing. The infobox: officeholder is one template I can see. I"m really at ground zero on this. Any musings on a speedy path forward?

- I suggest you go to WP:DRAFT and create a draft there (see "Create a new draft"), and work on it at your own pace, save/"publish" as you go along. A draft is a page on WP but it's not an article (yet). Read WP:BLP, it's important. Inline references are essential, WP:TUTORIAL can help with that. - thanks Grabergs! Jackson Friedman (talk) 13:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, looking around, I see that we have a number of articles on Filipiono Congresspeople, and you can look at those for guidance, include just literally copying article source "code", pasting it into your article, and making the required changes. Here's a short one, Joseph Bernos; and here's a long one: Teodorico Haresco Jr.. I picked those two at random, but there are very many others, look at Category:Members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines and its subcategories.
- thanks Grabergs! Jackson Friedman (talk) 13:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

- (Extra background info: Categories collect categories of similar things. If you look at the bottom of an article, you will see Category:Members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines from Abra (province) or whatever. I found this category by searching on "Category:Filipino politicians" in the search box, then drilling down -> Political office-holders in the Philippine -> Category:Filipino legislators -> Members of the Congress of the Philippines -> Members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, and then there is a category for each province.)
- (Extra background info: You should not have a problem with the article passing any notability review, since WP:NPOL (stands for "WikiPedia, Notability of POLiticans") -- you don't need to read it, but it says "Politicians... who have held... national... office, or have been members of legislative bodies at those levels" are presumed to be notable enough to rate an article.)
