And for the invitation. I'd like to inform you that I've joined the Project Gastropods. I'm a graduate student (I'll start my doctorate pretty soon) working with recent and fossil non-marine snails.

Bivalvia again

The article "Bivalvia" is currently a Featured Article candidate where it has been for several weeks. It has been a long process because I am unused to the procedure and its requirements but we are nearly there. There is one more bit of information I need.

I am looking for someone who has a copy of Marcus Huber's "Compendium of Bivalves" or who has access to one. The information I need is the number of the page or pages on which he states that the "total number of living bivalve species is about 9,200 combined in 106 families." This is the information in the Bivalvia article where it is accompanied by a table showing the number of families, genera and species in each order.

I know a friend who got a copy of the book a couple of weeks ago. He is currently away for a month taking the book with him, but I will email him and ask him if he would try to find that piece of info. I suppose it is somewhere in the introduction maybe... I also asked User:Shellnut who is in Project Bivalves and who I believe has a copy. He has been very busy in IRL recently so we have not seen much of him here. And just now I emailed my editor out in California. I don't know if she has the book, but it's worth a try. I don't think the AMNH library will have it as there is no senior staff member in malacology to order new books. But I could try later today to see of one of the two post-grads has it. Howdy

Hey Susan! It's been a long time since we last spoke! How have you been? I miss your wise tips... I hope everything is going well with you. I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks, so I'll be wiki-editing like old times =)! I've been working on scientific papers, so I didn't have enough time for pretty much everything else... But I'll come back, from time to time.

I've invited Rodrigo Salvador to our project. He's a terrific researcher, and deals way better with English than I do. He's also familiar with the wiki format, so I believe he'll adapt pretty fast.

I'm planning on promoting another of our B-class articles to GA-class. I'll see what I can do! It would be awesome if you could help me get there once more.

Hello Daniel! It's always so nice to hear from you! Me too, I have been writing scientific papers, and yes it is really time consuming... Thanks for encouraging Rodrigo to join us here, it's great to have his articles on fossil cerionids; that was something that Steven J. Gould was studying back when I worked at the MCZ in the early 1980s. I would be delighted to help you with your work to get another article up to GA. Which one are you going to tackle? It is a long time since but do you remember we were looking for a name author. Here he is Revett Sheppard.I see you continue to take an interest in Irish molluscs and the list is very much improved.I don't suppose you would like to take on the marine species? I think you are right.Ireland doesn't mean much in the marine context (excepting perhaps species protection legislation). North Atlantic is better and so is Mediterranean. Think of Italy also (caught between two seas) and Spain caught between an ocean and a sea. The intro could list the countries. I'll give it some more thought though and get back to you.Notafly (talk) 19:42, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Invertzoo - thanks for doing the edits in that page. I got tired last night and didn't have a chance to finish it up. I will be putting in references and further description soon. Most of those citations were found using google scholar and rummaging through his publications where he cites his other literature.
