Would you like to prrofread again?
You helped me with the article Gymnasium (Germany) yesterday and said it would be interesting if there was some stuff about scientific studies done on the Gymnasium. So I included that now (wiki is really addictive) and thought you might want to read and also see if the english grammar is correct and if I prensented both sides in a fair light so on. I would really appreciate that, but of course you don't have to. I am done with that article yet and I am not going to write another one soon (to time consuming), so you don't have to be afraid I will ask you all the time from now on. Thanks.--212.201.82.174 (talk) 17:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Want to help !
Hi, Intelligentsium, I am kinda new to Wiki and trying to find something to do/help. I found the animal project and would like to help, I'm not a excellent speller my punctuation and wiki programing are worse, I can type, look up stuff on the internet and tasks like this please let know how I can help ! P.S. Thhanx for the cookie ! Mlpearc (talk) 18:09, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your interest. We don't have a lot of active members, as you can probably see from the project roster. As Animals is a fairly broad topic requiring much maintenance, this is a serious problem, and we need every participant to do the most they can. I will leave/have left a list of monthly tasks on your talk page; you may do the ones you feel you can handle, as some of them require a little more experience. Again, thank you for your interest. Paul Sellar Wiki
Hi "I"
Thanks for your kind and constructive email regarding the Paul Sellar wiki entry. Paul's been in touch with me regarding the entry and we're determined to get this cracked :o)
Just so you know, Paul's been in touch with Kerry (sp?) at Wikimedia legal department and Kerry has advised us that we should resubmit the second version of the article as we had it (the one you commented positively on with the bullet points listing his various productions) so that it may be wikified.
However, the questions I have are:
(a) who's taken it back to the very first version of the text (without the productions)? (b) who's been kindly tweaking the entry? - obviously somebody in the know! (c) therefore, if they're in the know, why has it still got warning flags at the top of the article? (d) if I go and edit page to have the production list again, will it all disappear anonymously
Is it really supposed to be this difficult??!!
Best wishes,
Ali —Preceding unsigned comment added by AliMartin (talk • contribs) 23:19, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Images
In trigonometric functions, I see the caption that accompanies this image, but I don't see the image itself. I do see the other image right above it. What's going on? Michael Hardy (talk) 17:35, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
....and now I find that when I add |250px here, then I can't see the image on this page, whereas I can when it's all alone, as above. The image above it in trigonometric functions also has that size restriction, but no such problem afflicts it. Michael Hardy (talk) 17:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps your browser does not support .svg or .png? What browser/OS are you using? Intelligentsium 17:41, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Although your comment clearly misses the mark, can we be clear about one thing: does that particular image in that particular article work normally for you? Michael Hardy (talk) 00:58, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes; the image works normally for me in the article. Intelligentsium 01:05, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Rrose Selavy (talk) 00:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Just started this article. In my opinion, this could be a really good chance for WikiProject Animals to get a DYK. But because DYK is only for articles under five days old and I am going to be busy in the coming days this grand opportunity for a DYK will be lost if I do it on my own. More hands would definitley not go amiss.
If you, anyone else in the WikiProject, or anyone else who views your page is interested in improving this article for a DYK (and of course to get this article up to GA or FA status) here are some more references that I haven't used yet:
If you are interested. Cheers.--Domestic CAT 06:13, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Yikes! Are you talking about a species called "Old Ephraim" or the gigantic grizzly bear who was killed in 1923? I might have done the wrong one... Still, the article I've done could be a great DYK.--Domestic CAT 06:25, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Jarkov_Mammoth
Hello. The nomination you submitted to TT:DYK is to say the least, very interesting. Nice image also. However; it appears that at least some of the text from the article's author is too closely copied (possibly copy and pasted) from the source. If this can be addressed, this might be a great lead hook. Any questions feel free to ping me. Kindly Calmer Waters 22:09, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
To your nomination of Jarkov Mammoth - cheers. Note that I will also do my best to overcome any copyright concerns in my writing for future articles.--Domestic CAT 08:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

italic titles
What's the deal with italic titles now? It seems to be somehow automatic. Kaldari (talk) 18:47, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- The title is automatically italicized by the taxobox if no
|name=
argument is specified and the binomial name, trinomial name, or genus name is the same as the page title. However, this still doesn't get all the titles that should be italicized (for example, if the|name=
argument is set to Genus species). Cheers, Intelligentsium 22:58, 15 January 2010 (UTC)- I'm confused. When was this added to the taxobox template? Kaldari (talk) 23:03, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Java/Design portals
Hi Intelligentsium; I come from here and would appreciate if you could take a look at this to-do item of WikiProject Java:
- 1st priority: Revise the Portal:Java texts for English correctness
We're talking proofreading here as I mainly did the whole portal in one shot. The only requirement really is that you be Native-English speaker as I am not... If you dare, you put your username in place of (PYNHAGFIP). You can ask me for more explanations. Thanks, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 19:27, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Alainr345. Yes, I would be interested in helping to revise the Java Portal. However, I am not quite sure of what you mean by "you put your username in place of (PYNHAGFIP)". In any case, I am a native English speaker and would be willing to review the portal. Cheers, Intelligentsium 22:50, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thanks many, that's sympatico. Basically you read the Portal:Java and all the pages transcluded by it and correct any mispellings, etc. If a transclusion is in the article namespace (there's a couple of those), you don't have to correct them; if you don't like it, leave them a note in the talk page of the article. Then if you have a doubt somewhere in the text of the portal because of the technical nature of the material, don't hesitate to contact me. I did put your name here (when you feel it's done, you add ,done). Bye now, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 00:18, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed you begun the proofreading of Portal:Java in a constructive manner and thank you for that. Maybe you got stalled by the Box template design of most of it... Also, I see you now have a baby of sort... and that could steal your time. In any case, what I suggest is that you read directly from the page (not in edit mode) and signal any problem either here, on my talk page or in the Portal talk page. Don't bother reading boxes Selected article/picture/biography/sound/video/quote as they are mostly ramdomly transcluded from existing Wikipedia material and therefore should be as good (or bad) as the original. I point you to a couple of more meaty boxes: Portal:Java/Did_you_know and Portal:Java/Quiz. Thanks again, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 23:19, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- I see you did some work on the portal as I was vacationing, Thanks for that. Do you consider the whole thing mature, so I can put a close to it (for the time being) ??? --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 20:23, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think nothing in Wikipedia is ever truly "mature", as Wikipedia is a work in progress. For our intents and purposes, the portal is "mature" in that most of the components have been proofread, though it is entirely possible that I may have missed a few things. You can more or less put a close to it, and I will also read it over now and again to edit out any mistakes. Intelligentsium 21:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I see you there, no probs and thanks (see your Awards). Now, if you take a look at my brand new pet-peave, WikiProject Industrial design, you'll notice the 1st priority: Revise the Design portal texts for English correctness. I was wondering if you could take a look at that... --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 23:01, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- I see a few technical things wrong with that portal. It seems to use space inefficiently, and is consequently too long. The individual sections for interiors, graphics, designers, etc. seem to take up a lot of space; could they not be merged together into a single large section with subtitles? There are too many images, which contributes to the size of the page; while a few images illustrating prose is acceptable, many images in the navigation boxes seem unnecessary. I also disagree with the large distance between the introduction and the other content (i.e., prose, not lists). Intelligentsium 00:59, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

- Hi again. Your comments took me by surprise but what the heck, if you don't ask, they don't tell... As for the 'spacing' that's a feature of that portal and will be appreciated by the Design crowd, if not by you. Nevertheless I tried to 'tighten' it a bit. Also keep in mind that part of it (in the topics) will be filled gradually as the portal beefs up. I also moved the article up, good idea. In any case I thank you for changing discovery to selected article, good move. --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 04:35, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, how do I know when my nomination's entry will go to the main page? Thank you. Auréola (talk) 07:28, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hello. Your submission will go to the main page once the batch containing it becomes the first in the DYK queue. However, before it can reach the queue at all, it must be approved. I would suggest choosing a different fact for your hook, as the hook as it stands now seems to contradict the source, or at the very least be exceedingly unclear. Intelligentsium 23:16, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Can I nominate a new hook about the same article in another entry? If i do this, my previous entry will still be worth? Thank you. Auréola (talk) 23:34, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- You can nominate a new hook, but the policy is one hook per article. If you nominate a new hook, the approving user will choose between your hooks, which we call Alt hooks. Cheers, Intelligentsium 23:45, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- This poor DYK is still languishing. I would have approved it myself but I suggested a modified hook instead - would you be willing to take another look?--otherlleft 15:55, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Request to be adopted
I am currently requesting adoption by you sepcifically because of a recommendation to you by User:IShadowed. I tend to be on between 2000 UTC - 0200 UTC. Would you be willing to take me up?-- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 21:49, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

- Ok, how does this start/what page? -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 22:51, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- I don't believe there is any particular "official" way of starting. While WP:AAU give some advice, the main point of adoption, in my opinion, is not to follow a specific regimen but to build experience in all facets of Wikipedia (or "clue", if you will) in a custom-formed, non-procedural way. To this end, if you have any questions about the wiki's functions, feel free to ask. Intelligentsium 23:09, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- I would like you to take a look on how I am doing with helping an editor with an article on my talk page. Please posts any comments here though, as I don't want to confuse them more. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 03:42, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for the lateness of this response; I was unable to stay on as it was getting rather late last night and I unexpectedly had to work Saturday. I presume you mean this? It seems you are doing pretty well. I can think of a few issues, though. First off, phraseology such as "They argue" and "They say" are not necessarily violations of NPOV; they express viewpoints that, if supported by sources, should be explored. The same goes for "It is believed" and "he seems"; the problem with the former is "weasel words", but is not a problem if substantiated by sources. Furthermore, you were unclear as to the use of citation templates; new users cannot be expected to understand how they work. Upon a review of the article itself, there are a few issues that you did not explain. The main issue is that it is promotional and contains peacock terms. Another issue, which you covered partly, is that sources such as the school he founded are not third-party sources. The article is also not wikified, but this is a fairly minor issue compared with the others. If the article can be rewritten in a neutral tone, some issues you may wish to address are the lack of internal links, categories, etc. Overall, it seems you offered helpful advice in a clear and understandable way. One last point though: I see the user had given an e-mail address, which should be redacted (as I have done for you), and a message should be left explaining why it is undesirable to give email addresses. If it is the user's own email address, and he restores the email address, it should not be removed again. However, if it is another's email address, it should not be restored, even if it is highly visible on other sites. Cheers, Intelligentsium 23:19, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

- While I commend your desire to better serve our encyclopaedia as an administrator, you should not pursue adminship as a goal. It seems that only the users who do not actively pursue adminship are given the bit. Instead, consider editing in a wide range of areas, showing a knowledge of policy, civil interactions with even problematic users, and generally being "clueful". After a few months or so of experience in many areas, the community will eventually realize you can be trusted with administrator tools and your RfA will pass. I'm sorry I can't give you any more specific advice. Intelligentsium 00:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- That is fine. I never have treated it as a goal (I tried to word that above), just wondering if there were areas i could be more active in. By the way, if a user does not need to be blocked at AIV, can normal editors remove the request? (After a good evalution though, and only in clear cases) -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 02:05, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- I presume this is what you wanted? If not, please replace the {{helpme}} templates. Intelligentsium 03:44, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- That is the entry I was trying to make. That set of lists are more complex than I have seen before. Doing the tables differently is more or less impossible (there are about 45 more list articles linked together I think). Thank you

DYK
The article is long enough now. Joe Chill (talk) 12:32, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
I think your closure fails to take into account the weight of the arguments and the quality of the new sources. Can you please undo your closure and let an admin close it? Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 13:54, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- While the consensus to keep in this AfD was hardly unanimous, I believe there was clearly no consensus to delete. An admin may think otherwise, and delete the article, but this is a matter of judgment. As this is a non-admin closure, I am willing to undo it upon request, if my closure was controversial. Refs for DYK
I have added the refs to the article. All 15 of them that apply. Is it now ready for DYK? Buggie111 (talk) 13:42, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't seem to understand how to use citeweb. I looked for some examples, and cannot find them. Could you ehlp? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Buggie111 (talk • contribs) 18:44, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Certainly. The {{cite web}} template is actually not at all complicated, considering some of the more difficult programming languages (of which there are many). It is similar to a citation generator as it outputs information in the same order every time. {{cite web}} takes 27 arguments, but in practice only about seven or eight are usually used. These seven arguments are
{{cite web |url= |title= |author= |date= |work= |publisher= |accessdate=}}
. After the "=", type the corresponding information; for example,
{{cite web |url=http://example.com |title=Example title |author=John Smith |date=21 September 2009 |work= Foo and Baz|publisher=Example Publishing Company |accessdate=30 January 2010}}
would produce
John Smith (21 September 2009). "Example title". Foo and Baz. Example Publishing Company. Retrieved 30 January 2010.
When enclosed in <ref> tags, the template outputs the information in the footnotes section of a page. The only required arguments are "title" and "url" but it is preferred that you have more. See Template:Cite web/doc for more information. Intelligentsium 18:57, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thanks for that
And after that, will it be accepted?
Buggie111 (talk) 00:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, very likely. Intelligentsium 00:52, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Got 2/3's done and put into citeweb . Too tired to do others. Could it be accepted now?

Reply Above
I am just wondering if you had an answer to my question above? ("if a user does not need to be blocked at AIV, can normal editors remove the request? (After a good evalution though, and only in clear cases)". I also had some other notes up there. Just assumed you missed them. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 02:29, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. I had meant to answer, but somehow I became distracted... I believe non-administrators should remove reports from AIV only in very clear circumstances; for example, a vandalistic report or a report where the edits in question are clearly productive. I personally would not—our relatively large base of administrators are more than capable of handling the reports AIAV receives, and of distinguishing vandalism and nonvandalism. If there is a backlog, or if an administrator has already used a decline template, then it should be acceptable, if it has sat there for a while. It is important for the report to stay for a while after being declined to allow the reporting user to see why his or her report was declined. If you are told to stop removing reports by an administrator, obviously, you should stop. Cheers, Intelligentsium 03:21, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Sea Firefly
Hi Intelligentsium
Du you plann to put Sea Firefly up for DYK?
Another thing: Why do I have to read the guidelines and Things to consider three times befor I can post you a message? --Stone (talk) 12:21, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- I may plan to put that article for DYK; it depends on whether I have time and enough information is readily available from reliable sources. As for the guidelines thing: I am not sure why that happens; I see it three times as well. Most editnotices I see "double up", but I thought this was due to certain user settings I had. Do you have wikEd enabled? Intelligentsium 23:56, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- I expanded the article Vargula hilgendorfii and created the article Franz Martin Hilgendorf and nominated it for DYK. I hope you like it.--Stone (talk) 16:33, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Just the text. Would 2 shades of red be appropriate? One shade for the background, the other shade for the text? The reason I don't want any red for any borders is because there are no borders.174.3.98.236 (talk) 04:58, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Can you please help me fix the template? I don't plan to use it on that page. In any case, I am resolving the "dispute" on the talk page to the best of my ability. I do hope you looked at the talk page and talk history if you feel that I somehow intentionally defied consensus.174.3.98.236 (talk) 17:01, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. Is it possible to change the template to so that it is possible?174.3.98.236 (talk) 16:35, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well... Actually, that was why the template was made. It was so because {{xt}} and {{!xt}} can not handle tables, that we made these new templates ({{xt2}} & {{!xt2}}). So please (and thank you), do change the templates as you see fit. Also, it wouldn't be redundant because it would be easier to just put the table into the template, or however, saving time.174.3.98.236 (talk) 05:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- What difficulties would these be?174.3.98.236 (talk) 02:48, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I saw your comment, about my delete inquire. I must say, that I am really ashamed now, beacause it was so stupid (I didn't think of that I just could delete the redirect link and create a new article if I wanted). (But I was really tired, and I am nooby :p.) Just wanted to tell you about it.
Sincerely,

P.S. I created a new content for the article Barbariccia which also was a redirect article, just as Rubicante is.
Thank you
Thank you for the welcome. Appreciate your comments regarding delete pages, etc. I'm just getting used to the processes around these parts, and I'm sure there will be more to come... ;) I seem to randomly discover (some rather huge) help pages as I go along, so really appreciate the links you supplied.
