Template:COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal

[edit]

Hi Inimesh! I am a bot developer and I have been used the table on {{COVID-19 pandemic data}} to replicate these data updates across other nine wikis. Unfortunately, your update introduced a bug that prevents me from updating Nepal data on these wikis. I would like to suggest, instead of update {{COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal}} manually, you can update d:Q83873573 as the same way on the table as India and Indonesia. On Wikidata, now, Nepal has cases, deaths and recoveries. Albertoleoncio (talk) 22:54, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Albertoleoncio: Thanks for reaching out, Albertoleoncio. I'm unfamiliar with Wikidata, and thus chose to create a template within Wikipedia. The regular updating I currently do for COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal is largely facilitated by an spreadsheet application. I would be happy to switch over to updating the Wikidata page over {{COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal}} if I can do it in the same time span. If need be, {{COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal}} could then be fed the Wikidata values. I looked into COVID-19 pandemic in India (Q84055514), and found that the edits to the page are tagged "quickstatements [2.0]." Perhaps you can help me get started with using quickstatements [2.0]. Also, is there a way to import the data from the table at Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Nepal medical cases to the Wikidata page? Inimesh (talk) 01:54, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Albertoleoncio: Or can your bot be made to fetch Nepal's data directly from the source code of {{COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal}} itself? I intend to update {{COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal}} daily at around 4:30 NPT, almost as soon as the COVID-19 Dashboard from the Ministry of Health and Population (Nepal) changes. Inimesh (talk) 02:16, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've never used QuickStatements, but I found the manual here. I think this tool can be used to update Wikidata from your spreadsheet, but I don't know exactly how. Maybe the user that are updating d:Q84055514 can assist you with. About the bot, actually I cannot since my script is a little too complex and fetch the data from another template can be troublesome. Albertoleoncio (talk) 02:25, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Albertoleoncio: As per the two replies I got to my question at WP:HELPDESK, there is simply no way one can use an English Wikipedia template on another language project. So, for the time being, I have reverted Nepal's numbers in {{COVID-19 pandemic data}} to plain numbers. I will try to gain more familiarity with Wikidata. COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal

[edit]

Hi and thanks for catching the typo in the chart. Do you think it is okay to remove the several transclusions of this template from the lead section of this article? It appears that those figures are no longer being updated every day. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 12:33, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@LSGH: I think it would be easier and better to update the template itself. COVID-19 seems to be making a comeback in Nepal, and I intend to resume my regular editing. By the way, thank you for your daily edits to {{COVID-19 pandemic data/Nepal medical cases chart}}. I extracted the new recoveries figures in {{COVID-19 pandemic data/Nepal medical cases}} from there. Best, Inimesh (talk) 09:49, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :) Hopefully, this does not turn into a worrisome situation. India's devastating second wave already appears to be spilling over to its neighboring countries. By the way, do government officials explain why the reported number of deaths suddenly jumps sometimes? LSGH (talk) (contributions) 02:10, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@LSGH: Those were corrections. There had been disagreements between the MoHP and the Nepali Army on the total death count. Inimesh (talk) 13:58, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, it did become a full-blown second wave. It's now more common to see hundreds of deaths being reported every day, but those are still unsightly numbers :( LSGH (talk) (contributions) 12:59, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@LSGH: Indeed. But you should know the latest death counts still incorporate additional COVID-19 deaths based on bodies managed by the Nepali Army on different dates. Apparently, the MoHP and the Nepali Army are still not on the same page. Inimesh (talk) 14:49, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Data verification

[edit]

Hi again. Can you kindly verify this? The IP mentioned that antigen cases should already be included, but those inflated numbers could not be found on the dashboard. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 17:42, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, LSGH. Antigen counts seem to be a recent addition to the daily situation reports, but they come with a note that "The descriptive analysis is based on the data of RT-PCR only, reception of detailed line list of antigen test is in process". Previously, the situation reports documented rapid diagnostic tests, but the practice was finally dropped, citing the unreliability of such tests. As far as I can tell, RT-qPCR tests are considered the most confirmatory of all tests, and our current antigen tests are a form of rapid diagnostic tests. Also, given that almost all of our figures are based on RT-qPCR tests, and that the MoHP still hasn't incorporated antigen numbers to their dashboard, I think it would be wise to just stick to RT-qPCR–based numbers. Inimesh (talk) 01:33, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :) Indeed, the numbers would have been much higher if the numbers from antigen tests were included. There was no announcement that they would revise their criteria, so the present criteria should remain. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 05:38, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Institute of Science and Technology, TU, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
