Vanity page

Thebluesharpdude (talk · contribs) created a vanity account for his band—Shadow of The Day TheBand (talk · contribs)—which you blocked (after I posted in UAA), moving the "article" to the editor's own userspace (User:Thebluesharpdude/Shadow of the Day (band)). He has now moved it to a new vanity account: Shadow of the Day (band) (talk · contribs). I have tried supervising this editor, offering tips and such; I convinced him to get Wiki-adopted; I even left a note on ANI asking others to keep an eye on him but he continues to abuse Wikipedia. Precious Roy (talk) 00:10, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I've deleted the redirects. Perhaps have his adopter speak to him about image policy and notability. LaraLove 00:33, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Dana: Canvassing and CoI

Hi Lara. Dana's been involved on the "water memory" page for a while now, and I noticed after replying to him there that he has posted two messages [1], [2] to old editors of that page that promote his point of view. I'm not sure if they are directly a problem, but the do seem to be close to WP:CANVAS and WP:COI. BTW: I read the discussion about what was said about you on the mailing list, and I think it was appalling. Thanks. --DrEightyEight (talk) 08:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, 88. I'll look over it and drop my thoughts on your talk page after dealing with it accordingly. And thanks for your support, I really do appreciated it. :) LaraLove 15:42, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

OneFortyOne ArbCom filing

After spending all that time preparing and filing the ArbCom case, I din't look back. (I checked the ArbCom page, but it only goes back 500 edits.) I know I'm not the only one to run away from the Elvis article screaming. 141 is putting similar material in the Steve Allen article. Now I can find no evidence of the filing. Do you know anything about it, and how can I find out what happened? Rikstar never heard anything either. Steve Pastor (talk) 20:59, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I think it was rejected. And we were directed to file an Enforcement case, as he's already got sanctions placed on him. I hate ArbCom and all the paperwork so much that I stopped looking at it after a few Arbs turned down the case. LaraLove 21:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

a delicate question....

I thank you for "adopting" me. I have been carefully watching the edits of articles put up by the now-blocked puppets of a now-blocked puppetmaster. My sense is that the edits should be removed if proven to be non-factual, or if in violation of WP:NPOV or WP:COI. But what I am seeing is that many of the edits are being removed simply because of their source with no reagrd to their accuracy or benefit to Wikipedia, as many seem to be good contributions. For instance, here[3] where an episode title was removed with no discussion and no reason or here[4] where a reference was removed about one of the many videos segments of a show (though in this latter case, the reference contained specific mention of the actors involved and that specific mention likely does not belong). And going back a bit, here[5], here[6] and here[7], where partial filmologies were removed... though in the latter example, another editor came forward and returned[8] the filmology as being a recognized good edit. I do not want to stir up trouble, and am definitely afraid of myself being accused of violating WP:NPOV and WP:COI, but not all of what is being undone by that particular editor (as the last example shows) are in and of themselves bad edits... and are being removed only because their original submitters were blocked as puppets sometime after the edits were made. Wishing to tred VERY lightly, is this something I might myself address? The editor making these deletions is someone whose has gotten a few negative responses for their edits or comments in other areas and I do not wish to do anything that would further upset them. What options do I as a neophyte have?

Also, one last question... to remove a filmology[9] because "this information is identical to IMDB" really a proper reason to summarily delete something without discussion? My sense is that factual informations is supposed to be on Wiki and then properly referenced or cited outside of Wiki. I believe that to remove information simply because it can be found outside of Wiki seems to defeat the whole purpose of Wiki as an enclopedia. Am I crazy? MichaelQSchmidt (talk) 22:08, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Michael. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I started looking over this, got pulled away and then forgot I hadn't already responded. My apologies. Some of the edits appear appropriate to me, although a note on your talk page explaining why would have been polite. Considering your previous issues with Cumulus Cloud it is, however, not surprising that he's just removing without any sort of explanation. Regardless, to explain. Notability is a concern with some of these addition, as well as undue weight. The Paris movie, for example, was the only item on the list that gave any detail past the title. So you've basically (or whoever added it) put your name in a list of movies. That looks like promotion, which is unacceptable. It also gave that particular movie, which does not have an article, undue weight. Other examples listed appear as though they may not have met the notability requirement of Wikipedia. Request for advice

Hi, Lara, I'm involved in a situation where I'd like the advice of an admin, and I am hoping you can help. Here's a summary; I can provide diffs and so on if that's useful. Editor Yorkshirian created a map he wanted to use on several medieval articles. There was some reverting but eventually we got several people to discuss the issue at Talk:Mercia#Map. Yorkshirian joined that conversation. My interpretation of that discussion is that there was a strong majority for the version of the map I was suggesting. On 18 January I went ahead and repointed all instances to the revised map.

Yesterday Yorkshirian reverted the change to one article, Northumbria, with no edit summary. I reverted, pointing to the consensus. He has just reverted several of those edits with an edit summary of "remove crap, amateur map per majority concensus on Talk:Mercia#Maps" (the link error is my fault; it should be 'Map', not 'Maps', but he was copying my previous edit summary which was a typo.)

I'm not sure what to do next. It doesn't seem to me to be a content issue any more; we've got what I would cal a clear consensus. Is this an ANI issue? I've rarely posted there. I have also never done an RfC, so I'm not sure if that's the right thing here. Can you suggest what the right next step is? His tone isn't polite, but that's OK. I'd simply like to implement the consensus and have him respect it. If he can change people's minds so they want to use his map, that's fine too. I don't see much value in reverting him since I would assume he'll just revert me back; I reverted the first one with an edit summary that pointed him at the consensus and that didn't help.

If you would like more details of the history, including diffs of various conversations with him, let me know. If you look at a recent version of Yorkshirian's talk page, you'll see some of the conversations with him. I did ask another editor (Llywrch) for advice at an earlier stage and you can see the result on Yorkshirian's talk page too, here.

Thanks for any help. Mike Christie (talk) 14:06, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Mike. Although there is some incivility coming into play here, it's fairly minor, from what I see. So I would still consider this a content dispute, which would make it inappropriate for AN/I at this time. I recommend filing an WP:RFC on Talk:Mercia. This will bring in a few outside views of uninvolved editors to help reach a consensus. If there is an act against consensus after that, then it may be time for administrative intervention. When you file the RFC, explain the situation more briefly than you have here, but touching on each of the main points. Basically, explain simply that there are two options, consensus was reached on which to use, but the consensus has been challenged and you want additional opinions on the issue. LaraLove 15:42, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks -- I've created the RFC and we'll see what happens. I appreciate the advice. Mike Christie (talk) 16:08, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Help in dealing with a tendentious editor

User:Amazonfire will not stop his POV-pushing at So Far from the Bamboo Grove. He has disruptively reverted with super-civil edit summaries such as "Don't falsificate the history" and wants to insert an unsourced fact with a source that contradicts his claim.

Although he wants to say "The Japanese who had become the captive of a Soviet federation was indiscriminately restrained," to claim that the Japanese were not restrained for war crimes[10] his "source" says "Some 600 soldiers have been convicted for crimes (in accordance with paragraph 10 of the Potsdam Declaration) committed against prisoners or civilians in the occupied territories." I'm sick of dealing with him. He just refuses to get the point. I need help bad! миражinred (speak, my child...) 21:26, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Dana's Homework

I'm sorry to bother you again, but I've posted a note on Dana's adoptee homework. I probably shouldn't, but I felt compelled after the misrepresentation he made. I'm sure you'd have spotted this though, so apologies if I've stepped on your toes - I didn't feel I could let it pass without coment. Yours, --DrEightyEight (talk) 22:24, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I also think that this edit shows that Dana is continuing to behave in a very very poor manner [11]; it is full if lies, does not AGF, and breaks many of the wikipedia policies Dana claims to have read and understand. --DrEightyEight (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 07:36, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

The banner at the top of your userpage

Is annoying to people who use skins other than monobook (I use "modern"). For me, it blocks the title, the talk/preferences/watchlist bar, the edit/history/move/watch tabs, and is generally a pain. Perhaps you could use a css class instead of inline styling so people with other skins can fix it (No particular reason to be picking on you, other than that your userpage was about the third I visited with this problem). — Werdna talk 11:21, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

If you could give me the CSS code, that would be great. But which banner are we talking about? The Pats thing, or the custom title? LaraLove 14:08, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok. I jumped in a couple other skins (eep, that's a change) and took out the custom title. If you could get me CSS code that would do the same, it would be appreciated. :) LaraLove 14:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Lara. I had a play with it (but I'm not really a css expert) and I couldn't really find a particularly good way to do what you're after (I could speak to another developer with a better grasp on CSS). My suggestion is that, if you apply a class to the banner at the top (Where you've got class="metadata", add a space and topbanner, so it reads class="metadata topbanner". That way, people using other skins can at least filter that kind of thing out using personal stylesheets. — Werdna talk 07:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

TINBRC

There is no bathrobe cabal.

I figured that it should only follow that if there's WP:TINC, and WP:BRC, then there should somewhere be a silly reference to TINBRC, and thus I took this picture. It was fun writing backwards. :P Cheers =) --slakrtalk / 14:53, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Warning someone about their behaviour isn't a dispute. Guettarda (talk) 15:56, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

You two were arguing back and forth. That constitutes a dispute. LaraLove 16:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I warned him. He responded by repeating the sort of behaviour I warned him about. Not a dispute. Guettarda (talk) 16:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm not alone in my view. It was a dispute. The block was bad. Like I said at AN/I. You're both guilty of the same behavior, NPA vios or not. So you can either both be blocked or you can both let it go, leave each other alone and be on your merry way. I recommend the latter. LaraLove 16:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
You unblocked an editor after they engaged in repeated personal attacks. Are you saying that it's acceptable to engage in personal attacks after a warning? And that after they were posting personal information on Wikipedia. You consider that a bad block? Odd. Guettarda (talk) 16:25, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
You might want to take a look at AN/I. If we're considering them PAs, then you've engaged in the same. Keep it up and maybe you'll get blocked for harassment. Not really, but I'm just saying, let it go. It's over. Consensus is against you. LaraLove 16:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

To be fair, you did mention on the ANI that if the block should be reduced or removed completely, you said it can happen without any consultation with you. Just a thought. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 16:28, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I said so. I didn't mean to come across like I was criticising Lara for unblocking without consultation. Undoing the block because you considered me too involved - not a problem. (I disagree, but I respect your judgment call). But you seem to be scolding me for blocking someone who responds to a PA warning with a PA. That I don't get. But that's ok. "I don't get it". The end. Assistance

Lara, a page of mine has been nominated for deletion and I was wondering your two cents on it. Given your perspective on Cumulus Cloud, I'm sure your comments would be good within this discussion, BUT, I would prefer them on my talk page or on yours with a note on my page to look here. In the interests of full-disclosure, should you decide to throw your input into the mix, I would appreciate you notifying everyone that I contacted you so we don't run into any canvassing concerns. I ask this as someone who respects your opinion. Thanks. — BQZip01 — talk 04:23, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

I would've really liked them to have gone 19-0, and I do like the Patriots (I am a UKer, so I'm mostly limited to the Super Bowl and the team's reputations from a giant folder that my dad got back in the 90s), but I have to admit that the "Great Escape" that Manning did was amazing. My brothers were here and they were rooting for the Giants. I was basically the only chick in a sausage party (what's new?) and the only Pats fan. Bad times. I was so on my feet at the end. And flippin' my shit in IRC with Jeffery O. At least I had fun. LaraLove 22:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

The probation of Homeopathy and the use of Rfc's

I think edit wars are very counter productive and I will not participate in them. With that said I reverted an edit by an Ip address who seems to be opposed to having anyone address Dana's concerns about the article misrepresenting him . I think that the time for an Rfc on the block quote in question may be fast approaching. I do not intend to revert anyone else on that particular edit but I would appreciate your input pursuant to the use of Rfc's to avoid the onset of an incipient edit war : Albion moonlight (talk) 13:16, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

As an update I would like to say that I may have spoke too soon. Another Ip address made an edit that may wind up being accepted by everyone inas much as it attempts to represent both sides. But I still wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on the frequent use of Rfc's to avoid edit warring. Albion moonlight (talk) 13:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm keeping a watch on Dana and teaching him the ropes. I've initiated one RfC for him. If he feels the need to initiate another, he can come to me with his questions on how to proceed. For everyone else, you guys should already know what's up. I'm not getting embroiled in this mess any more than I already am. I've got too much going on, on-wiki and off. Block shortening

Hello - in the future, could you give me a heads-up if you shorten one of my blocks? It's not a big deal, but I'd like the feedback. My concern with Mccready (talk · contribs) is that he's rationalized away every previous block as the work of "newbie admins", "overzealous chiro believers", admin abuse, etc. He's got 3 previous 3RR blocks that stuck, plus one overturned and an additional block for "wikistalking" - he's got ongoing problems. My gut feeling is that the reduction gives him more fodder for rationalizing away yet another block, and that admin-shopping with 3 successive {{unblock}} templates probably ought to be discouraged, but that's me. Considering I've directed any questions to Thatcher, I'd suggest going and asking Thatcher rather than spew your bad faith on my talk page. You can also ask Deskana, if you feel so inclined. LaraLove 04:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Why do you assume "bad faith"? OM and I asked you where the proof was. Very simple. Shunting us off elsewhere, when you issued the block is very strange. BTW, for your edification:
See [13] Note descr: Proxad / Free SAS. descr: Static IP address (Freebox). To the best of my knowledge the IP is for Freebox: the modem has the static IP -- multiple computers can use the modem and will show the same IP. I could be wrong, but you should at least check into it. •Jim62sch•dissera! 21:47, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I think LaraLove has made it very clear that any questions or concerns might be better directed to Thatcher or Deskana. Why do you keep bothering her? —Whig (talk) 21:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I addressed Thatcher, thank you. However, I dislike redirects. •Jim62sch•dissera! 22:15, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Bad faith is starting off with the assertion about disdain for admins that make bad blocks. It is not uncommon for an admin to block as per evidence of someone with checkuser capabilities. She referred inquisitors to the checkuser. In fact, two checkusers have confirmed the same suspicion. Stop beating the horse here, when all you guys had to do was ask the checkuser, which was exactly what Lara advised. the_undertow talk 22:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Redirect:OM.
I asked a question. My experience has been that the admin with CU rights does the block, but I could be wrong.
Also, see my comment to whig re "ask[ing] the checkuser". Shantih, shantih, shantih. •Jim62sch•dissera! 22:19, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
A suspicion is taken to an admin, who asks a checkuser to confirm. If the suspicion is confirmed why would they checkuser issue the block if they are party to nothing save the fact that they can provide information about edits and corresponding ip addresses? The involved admin, knowing the situation, makes the call based on checkuser information. The checkuser admin is simply using a tool to provide unbiased technical information, and acts as an intermediary in this case. You may dislike redirects, but that's wholly irrelevant - we all have dislikes. You were 'redirected' to the checkuser because you were specifically asking about evidence which was provided by the checkuser. the_undertow talk 22:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
See below: now an admin is asking. Seems we have a bit of an issue regarding, at the very least, a failure to communicate here. •Jim62sch•dissera! 00:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Lara, you apparently requested checkuser on the grounds of disruptive behaviour. Could you give diffs of this behaviour, or at the least indicate what the problem was? ... dave souza, talk 23:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I am not going to share the technical details; there is nothing particularly mysterious, but I want to avoid educating the user on how to better avoid detection next time. There are definitely three shared accounts, and innocent explanations such as common wi-fi access are extremely unlikely. The issue of whether to block 2 accounts and give the third one a second chance, or block all three, is a matter for administrators' discretion, and you can Lara to review her decision, or the user(s) can contact Arbcom for a review. Thatcher 02:45, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I believe Lara left Unprovoked unblocked as the master account since it was the oldest. Certainly any admin can unblock DrEightyEight or RDOlivaw with or without consensus, but it would probably unwise unless that admin was also a checkuser. Thatcher 04:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Is it common practice to ignore checkuser evidence and unblock confirmed sockpuppets who have backed themselves in various conversations, and claimed to not know each other? LaraLove 04:59, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Are you asking me or Ned? Thatcher 05:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Anyone, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer. LaraLove 05:02, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I recall you being very sure that User:Jeffrey O. Gustafson was using sockpuppets. -- Ned Scott 05:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Then you have a skewed memory. I recall you being adamant on acting against consensus. He was blocked over the vote in the RFA. For that reason, his vote should have remained stricken according to tradition and community consensus. I left the decision of whether or not he was a sock up to CUs. But as long as he was blocked, his vote should have remained stricken. Additionally, I recall that you've made a point to interject yourself into situations regarding me since then as I never saw you before, but that could be just a coincidence, so we'll hope for that. LaraLove 05:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I could go into detail about how that consensus you cite is non-existent, or the closing b'crates notes, but I figure we're both getting a bit worked up here.
You have to understand that Wikipedians are prone to questioning anything they cannot verify for themselves, even when it involves trusted users, such as yourself or Thatcher. While your responses in this discussion make me want to pull my hair out, I do have respect for you. -- Ned Scott 05:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

You're right, Ned. I'm sorry. I have an entirely unrelated situation bringing me to my knees at the moment and my emotions are uncontrollable. I'm getting a grasp. You have every right to question the situation. I assure you, it is doubtful that RDO's explanation is an honest one. The evidence shows a seven minute time-frame in which both edited from the same IP, same computer. And that's just the strongest bit of information. I don't know all the details, but I am confident in the words of Deskana and Thatcher and blocked accordingly. If there really is doubt after that, then ArbCom may be best so that all of the evidence can be reviewed in confidence and a final determination made. Again, I apologize for being snippy. It's been a rough week and I'm on edge. LaraLove 05:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I also need to apologies for that "rookie" comment. That was out of my own ignorance of the blocking interface. I should also apologies for being on the war path on AN/I, and being so quick to criticize without considering other factors. -- Ned Scott 06:32, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

Hello, Would you like to adopt me? I am already adopted, but I would like some more adopters. I want to learn everything about wikipedia. I have learned a lot so far, but I'm always willing to learn more. --Grrrlriot (talk) 02:31, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't really have time for any new adoptees right now. I'm prepping for school, my real life is stress on crack (I'm not on crack, mind you) and I've got more than I can handle right now as it is. Feel free to ask me questions tho. LaraLove 04:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering if you could take a look at Deepak Tripathi and let me know if you think the article cites enough reliable sources. I had added an "unreferenced" and then a "refimprove" tag to the page. But both times they were removed from the page by the user who is actively editing it. I don't want this to go into a repetitive cycle, and am looking for some guidance on how to proceed with this issue. I also suspect that this might be a case of the user creating a Wikipedia page for himself. Please check User_talk:SurreyLibrarian and my talk page for the dicussion we had. Looking forward to your response. Thanks. Mkeranat (talk) 05:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Did you mean to leave User:Unprovoked unblocked? Given the situation at homeopathy you also have the option of topic banning. Cheers, Jehochman Talk 00:34, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I did not. He was meant to be blocked for 24 hours. I skipped a step inadvertantly. Topic ban sounds like a good idea, however. Once the shit storm settles, I'll get on that. LaraLove 04:06, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

User:RDOlivaw, User:Unprovoked and User:DrEightyEight ‎

Firstly, my apologies for not notifying you when raising the discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:RDOlivaw, User:Unprovoked and User:DrEightyEight‎. That'll teach me not to do things I'm not familiar with after midnight when I'm tired, but the concern about university networks seemed both reasonable and urgent. If you'd noted that checkuser had confirmed sockpuppetry on the user notification I'd probably have taken this no further, but there does seem to be a need for clarification of the alleged wrongdoing. In the meantime, I've unblocked User:DrEightyEight and reblocked with the autoblock removed, in case that was also blocking a university network. Were there any other accounts blocked which could have the same issue? Thanks, . .. dave souza, talk 09:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Those were the only three accounts. LaraLove 12:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi, just to point the obvious, it's unfortunate that you weren't told that they were editing from educational networks and so autoblock should be disabled, and then that the point wasn't picked up more quickly when RDO announced the university connections. By the way, it may seem daft but the case caught my attention because of R. Daneel Olivaw. it'll be sad not having a famous robot about the place, but guess that was really a bit of a hint. :-/ ..dave souza, talk 23:42, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

As you were involved in this late last week, I wanted to bring it to your attention ... the user has returned this morning and continues to disrupt the article's talk page and argue there that he's actually discussing the article and not the company despite multiple comments that his arguments are nothing but WP:OR, lack WP:V and WP:RS, and despite warnings to drop the issue and move on. Could you take another look at the recent postings following your prior warnings to him? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 16:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I posted this image to hopefully settle it once and for all. I don't get how this user can't find that page, but I'm done running in circles over it. All sources verify it. LaraLove 17:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Almost two weeks ago, he pulled me into the company discussion, and further up on that talk page I demonstrated that it depends on if cookies are on the local PC on which version of that page you see, which he acknowledged also seeing. But, that's WP:OR, so I left the page at that point when questions of using the talk page to discuss the company instead of the article were raised. I posted on WP:AN after I returned to the article after over a week to find that he continues to attempt to direct others back towards a discussion of what he finds under his own research, rather than what can be documented/verified via WP:RS.
To be fair to all parties, if it continues, I'll direct further comments on the subject back to that talk page rather than fragmenting it here - and will only post here to draw your attention to it if it continues to not be dropped. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:19, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Bah. I meant to put the account you noted, not the account requested. It's fixed now. The fact that the similar account has editing so recently, the requested account can't be created. LaraLove 17:03, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Renaming or Deleting images

Hi LaraLove. Is there a way I can get more "control" over the maps I'm uploading?

Primarily I'd like to rename some of the image files and delete some others. Ex: most maps are named like (Image:Region_Yearadorbc.jpg or Image:East-Hem_600ad.jpg). One is titled Image:East-Hem_200bc_web-sm.jpg. I like to keep them named in the same format, makes it easier to browse through them, locate them, etc.

How can I do that? Thank you in advance for your answer. Thomas Lessman (talk) 12:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Reupload the images under the desired name, switch the names in any articles so that no pages link to the original names and then list them here and I'll delete them. LaraLove 13:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually this might be a good time to move the maps to Wikimedia so other projects can use them. Is there any way to transfer the entire file, including previous versions? (Ex: the current version of Image:East-Hem_500ad.jpg was uploaded 12-22-07, but there are 5 older versions of the map in the file history). I like having previous file versions available; it shows how the maps have evolved, what's been added or changed, etc. Is there any way to transfer the file history from Wikipedia to Wikimedia, along with the actual image? Thomas Lessman (talk) 16:08, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure. Are the old versions not outdated? They may have to be uploaded one at a time, as there were here. But I'll attempt to find out. LaraLove 17:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Canvassing

Are there repercussions for stealth canvassing? Please consider this AfD; specifically here and with some follow-up questions answered here. What is your suggestion on how to proceed with this if not just to ignore it and move on. Wikiquette? ANI? Warning? Thank you. -- Levine2112 discuss 02:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

James Blunt GA nomination - ready for your review

Hi LaraLove - I think I've now incorporated almost all of your suggestions, as well as those of other editors, and added additional content and sourcing to the James Blunt article. Some sections have been significantly reworked, but I believe it is for the better. Indopug was kind enough to set up an .ogg file with "You're Beautiful" in it, so that has replaced "Goodbye my Lover." The one place where I am stuck is in figuring out how to put two FURs on the "You're Beautiful" screenshot image, and I hope you can help me there. Images and other added-in media are definitely my area of greatest weakness, but I do learn quickly; if you could point me to an existing image with two FURs, I can see how it is done and apply it to this particular image. Afterward, I will use the same template to add a second FUR to the song's .ogg file and add it to the article for the song.

Thanks for your comments and assistance. While it's been hard work, I think I've learned a lot through this exercise. I'll look forward to any further comments or suggestions you have. Risker (talk) 08:11, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I'm sorry to bring this up again when you've only just announced you're taking an admin break, but do you remember User:Masalai, who was edit warring and attacking other users, there was a post about about it on WP:ANI#persistent personal attacks and deliberate vandalism and you gave them a final warning, well he/she has started reverting again, with the same attacking edit summaries. Thanks, sorry to bother you.--Jac16888 (talk) 13:01, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Okay, well I added it. Not sure what you mean by the second part. List appears to be in alphabetical order. Not sure how I could affect that. LaraLove 20:38, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Am I ready for the semi-big time?

I respect your need for your private time. I am presently blocked from editing articles on homeopathy, though I think that I've completed the homework you've given me and have shown good faith in my contributions. My previous errors were simply due to me being a newbie editor on wikipedia. I've since learned a lot. You previously agreed to insert my recommended edits that I placed into the Talk sections. I would like to ask that I be able to edit in homeopathy articles now (or at least in every homeopathy article, except the main one). That said, if you do have time to do some editing, please review my recommendations here [20]. You will see that no one has spoken against them, and some editors have voiced some support. If you still think that I need more time and experience, can you recommend another mentor or can you still hang in there with me? Dana Ullman Talk 05:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I have filed a concern about your mentees disruptive behavior at the probation notice board here. PouponOnToast (talk) 16:24, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
In due respect, I did discuss all of the changes that I made in Arsenicum album. I posted this information several days ago, and then, I even said that I was going to make the changes unless someone suggests otherwise. I was then given encouragement from a fellow editor. My summaries were short and encouraged people to look at the Talk pages. You are still my mentor, and the fact that some editors say that you aren't mentoring is evidence that you are not looking at the facts and the evidence of these facts. Dana Ullman Talk 18:27, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

As much as I love to eavesdrop on the conversations of others, it's really distracting to have an orange banner alerting me to someone else's conversation when I'm trying to get stuff done. Kind of counter-productive with my semi-wiki break and such. Maybe talk to each other on your own talk pages, k? Thanks. LaraLove 18:37, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Back again - you were right, the lead definitely did need to be expanded, and I have done so to include some of the information from the other two sections.
