Regarding your comments on the FAC review for Windswept Adan

[edit]

Hello IanTEB! I wanted to preface by expressing my appreciation for your comments on my FAC review; they were very kind and helpful to the further development of the article. I did, however, want to inquire about the Oricon charts - I mentioned not being able to find their charting data myself due to the website's paywall; thus, I did not include the information due to it being unverifiable by most reviewers for now (this may have changed by the time you get to reading this message). At the expense of being a bit redundant in the case that you did read my reply (which was made un-repliable - I'm not sure of the right word here - due to my putting it in an expand box template), is there some external reference with this information that does not require payment? Or would it be acceptable to put the album link on Oricon as the reference, with the expectation that whoever may look at this reference has access to view its chart history? Let me know your thoughts on this. I'd love to include this information, as it would add to the breadth of the article.

That being said, I invite you to conduct an unbiased source review for the nomination! I understand that it would be your first (if not, please correct me), so I will mention that from my understanding the process is similar to a GAN source review with a spot check, albeit more thorough in that it must account for the reliability/verifiability of all sources - for a good example, check out Generalissima's spot check for St Melangell's Church. I would ask more for an impartial review of just the Japanese references, as you seem to be familiar with Japanese music-related sources in particular, and I'm sure most people would be turned off from doing the mandatory spot check due to the number of non-English sources. Of course, this is not obligatory, and you are free to refuse as you wish. Feel free to let me know what you think about this; your insight would be much appreciated! joeyquism (talk) 18:23, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed your edit to the page. Thank you very much for this! I think this attribution is appropriate. joeyquism (talk) 18:30, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey! If you ever need any Oricon information in the future you can reach out. I wouldn't mind doing a spotcheck, but I like to get those kind of things done quickly so I'll start when I know I'll have time to finish. This will probably be within a week. My understanding is that FACs can go for quite a long time, so I should definitely be able to get one done in time (unless another editor beats me to it). I wish you all luck on the nomination; coverage of Japanese music isn't exactly perfect on enwiki so I think it's super cool :) IanTEB (talk) 19:01, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great, thank you so much! I appreciate the gesture, and greatly appreciate your input considering your experience with these sources (are you a Japanese speaker, perchance? Either way, you seem to know the language much better than I do, so your knowledge is especially valuable). From what I've been told, FACs take around 3-12 weeks, with a preliminary check for readiness at around 3 weeks and final checks for inactivity at 12, so you should have plenty of time.
Thank you for the good luck wishes, and I'm glad you think it's cool! To expand more on your last point, I have yet to see a Japanese music featured article aside from Ayumi Hamasaki and some Final Fantasy soundtracks, so I had no reference for what one looked like when writing this article - although, I did use "Why Don't You Play in Hell?" as a reference, which I realized you wrote! What a well done article! I do wish for more non-American music featured articles in general; I'm aware of some Spanish and Brazilian music FAs, but it's rather lacking elsewhere. Hope you're having an amazing start to your week, and I hope to hear back from you soon! joeyquism (talk) 21:05, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a native speaker but I am able to read sources without translation. As for other featured Japanese music content, I think its limited to Hamasaki and Koda Kumi discography, though Passion (Hikaru Utada song) could have been promoted if it wasn't for a lack of feedback on the nomination. Thanks for your kind words and I'll see you on the FAC! IanTEB (talk) 21:35, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi IanTEB! Sorry to revive this - I just wanted to say that if you do decide to conduct a Japanese source review, I think it would be a good display of transparency to note that I personally requested you to do so on your talk page, and to also express that you are the one who added the Oricon charts information, which I as the nominator currently do not have access to. Apologies for the policing; I just want any potential review to be as unbiased and transparent as possible so as to not disrupt the neutral aspect of initial FAC reviews. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you again soon! joeyquism (talk) 19:48, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course! IanTEB (talk) 20:24, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi IanTEB, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Elli (talk | contribs) 01:49, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: GAN review for Same Thing (EP)

[edit]

Hi IanTEB! I'm so sorry for having unfulfilled my promise to get your article reviewed in a timely manner. I've been in a bit of a mental rut lately, and have tried to get that cleared by working on other articles instead. I'll put a placeholder on the review shortly; if I don't get to it within, say, the next week and a half, feel free to chastise me on my talk page or elsewhere. Hope you're having a great week so far! joeyquism (talk) 16:59, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No need to worry. I've been keeping busy with a done of projects so there's no rush. Hope you have a great week! IanTEB (talk) 17:14, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi IanTEB! Continuing from your comment on Talk:Same Thing (EP)/GA1 - I do have a nomination for Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) that's been open for quite a while. Thank you again, and keep up the wonderful work! joeyquism (talk) 20:56, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind at all. I'll try to at least get it down before the end of the month! IanTEB (talk) 20:57, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi IanTEB! The GAN for Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) has recently been taken by someone else, though I do have a nomination for Lil Ugly Mane open if that works instead. Just wanted to give you a heads up! joeyquism (talk) 16:34, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apryl Fool sources in Japanese

[edit]

Hi IanTEB, you seem to be interested in Japanese music so I thought I'd ask you about something. Recently a Japanese editor made an article for Draft:The_April_Fool_(Japanese_Band) that was draft-ified, I think because of notability issues. I added more sources to the draft but I think it's still slightly short of being ready to move back to main space, and the editor who created it told me (here) that they don't know of other sources.

Might you know where to look? Some Japanese music magazine from the 60s or 70s that could have reviewed the album, or run a piece on the band? GanzKnusper (talk) 21:46, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did a little looking around and found this profile on CDJournal, which also includes a small review. It also seems that this book on Hosono includes a bit of material, which was cited in the Japanese Wikipedia article. I don't have access to many magazines, but some closed Japanese music sites like Hot Express might have covered the subject, though I can't check right now since Internet Archive is down.
More results come up on the Google Programmable Search Engine I have for Japanese sources, but most seems to be passing mentions, most in interviews. There might be something hidden though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. IanTEB (talk) 22:12, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful thank you, that's already very helpful. GanzKnusper (talk) 07:53, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
