IP addresses in the 79.xx.xx.xx range

[edit]

Hi. I notice you've given at least two welcomes to and even responded to an IP editor in the 79.xx.xx.xx range who asked for your assistance in editing/adding charts to articles. Editors in this range are likely to be Cardicharts, who is based in Italy and extensively adds year-end and weekly charts to articles, including the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian charts. If you see this editor again (using another IP, perhaps), please report them to Ad Orientem or to ANV and link to the above LTA page hosted in Ad Orientem's userspace. Thanks. Ss112 10:45, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ss112, right, the request seemed a little fishy to me.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:55, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

Moved barnstar here at 07:27, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I'm confused by your statement] that you removed WP:NPOV sections from Draft:Wisbech Society before moving it to draft. Could you help me understand how the history of the historical society and its publications violated WP:NPOV? Thanks! Schazjmd (talk) 19:35, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Schazjmd, statements like "...stimulating an interest in the preservation of the architectural beauty of the town, encouraging the creation of good modern buildings worthy of preservation" seemed a bit WP:PEACOCKy to me. I did restore one section, which on second look, seems fine.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 01:02, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcasting reform

[edit]

I was expanding the article when I got your message and it ended up recreating the article as only the section I was editing (what a mess) so I had to copy and paste back the original version. Long story short there are now 3 journal articles cited in the article - is that enough to keep it in mainspace? I'm still working on it. I'm going to move it to another title so I guess it can be moved to that draft space if needed but I don't think it's necessary. Sorry about the confusion! Dartslilly (talk) 19:58, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dartslilly, oh, it's fine on your part. Guess I should've given you more time.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 01:02, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses Hi, I have added more sources to my draft article entitled "Langelier Boulevard", an article I wrote today about the well-known thoroughfare in Montreal, Canada called Langelier Boulevard. Please review them and please review my article. Thanks. 9plus10 (talk) 05:15, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

9plus10, per this question and answer, no; your draft needs a new set of eyes.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 07:25, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A message from 9plus10

[edit]

Hi, Can you explain what you meant by "my draft needs a new set of eyes"? What I did was that I took the already existing Boulevard Langelier article on the French Wikipedia, I translated it, and then I added more to it, citing more sources in the process. As a Montrealer, I happen to know quite a lot about that street and I would appreciate it if my draft article can get approved soon so that I can link it with the Boulevard Langelier article on the French Wikipedia. Thanks. 9plus10 (talk) 03:48, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@9plus10: What I mean is that most of the time, drafts benefit from another perspective that having someone else review it can provide. I'm not obligated to accept/decline your draft so you link from another language Wikipedia. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:31, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Sidney Goodwin (artist) moved to draftspace I was in the process of editing this article when you moved it and I was not aware you had done so. I have now completed and resubmitted but the unfinished draft should now be deleted. Can you do that for me as I can't see how it's done. Thanks, Stepmars

Stepmars (talk) 09:10, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stepmars, the draft is now a redirect. Your request is, functionally speaking, already  Done.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:49, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

G5?-- Deepfriedokra 08:21, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deepfriedokra, Ultraexactzz speedily deleted that page under 3 CSD criterion, G5 being one of them. I can't see it now. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:25, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No proble, I couldn't figure out who thebanned editor was.-- Deepfriedokra 03:34, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Deepfriedokra, I do recall finding an article with an article creator that was blocked for spam. The article was CSD-able regardless of who wrote it, but I added a G5 on top of the other two criteria. Perhaps this was the article I'm thinking of. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:36, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses, I see your comments about facebook, discogs. Please elaborate. I can understand the issues with Facebook and will remove where possible. However, discogs, is a reputable and a reliable source, it is the largest online music database. Also, why are existing links to wikipedia articles are not notable? Please elaborate. I am happy to make all the needed changes to get this article published.
@Amrabino4wiki: Discogs doesn't provide a significant mention, which would be at least a paragraph at bare minimum.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:32, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of speedy deletion for Your Heart Breaks page

[edit]

The page is all new writing, and I expect has more noteworthy citations than the previous incarnation. The band has been around for 21 years and almost every member has their own Wikipedia page. Lewishhh (talk) 08:41, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lewishhh, WilyD seemed to agree with you. The CSD is now off.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:34, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Though, as I indicated there, it's only procedural. AfDs closed as "soft delete" don't count as "discussions" for the purposes of speedy deletion criterion G4. I have no opinion about the article, nor no sense of whether it would pass a new AfD:. WilyD 05:50, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

dear "I dream of horses"

Thanks for reviewing the wiki “Wakako Kaku” page I created.

The source of the citation was unknown. I'm sorry.

The text of "@ Yasuhiro Yotsumoto" The last line of this wiki-Wakako Kaku page indicated the source. (Wakako-Kaku Kaku's achievements featured in the Poetry International Archives. Quoted from) https://www.poetryinternational.org/pi/site/poet/item/13889/31/

However, the link was not explicitly indicated as a source of text for "Yasuhiro Yotsumoto".

I will correct this mistake. And I want to post again.

Is my action correct? Castor KakuWakako (talk) 02:55, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Castor KakuWakako (talk) 07:25, 9 January 2020 (UTC) Hi. Is it midnight? Is it morning? Thank you for your reply.[reply]

Judgment of WIKI in Japan is loose. This is the first time it has been deleted. I am surprised.

However, I found out that there was a lack of references to write on foreign wikis. A Source of music award. A Source of instructor achievements at the university. A source whose husband is a rakugo entertainer.

Identify such sources. And I will post again.

Thank you!

@Castor KakuWakako: It's actually okay to have non-English sources, or even offline sources, on the English wikipedia. What matters more is that there's a paragraph or two on the subject of the article in the source, and that the source wasn't paid for by anyone employed by/related to the subject article or their competitors.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 04:14, 10 January 2020 (UTC) (fixed ping at 04:15, 10 January 2020 (UTC))[reply]

How to retrieve and publish Page Again

[edit]

Hey. I have created an page Shreyans Bokadiya with all notable references but that was deleted yesterday night. Please help me to retrieve or please create an page for me. HimanshiBokadiya (talk) 03:28, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

HimanshiBokadiya, it would seem that you recreated Shreyans Bokadiya, but then replaced it all with only one word: "work". If this was an accident, then perhaps you should start over with a draft at articles for creation. There you can take your time with writing an article.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:31, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

giving advice about sources

[edit]

I often say "this needs more than one source", . It isn't actually true that "Articles about living people in particular would need around five good sources." DGG ( talk ) 19:58, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the background, but I don't think either one is necessarily correct. I would say that a BLP should have sufficient sources to verify the content. A one-paragraph stub about a Nobel Prize winner may only need 2-3 sources, but a five-paragraph article would definitely need upwards of a dozen. It's entirely a case-by-case basis. Primefac (talk) 20:17, 15 January 2020 (UTC) (talk page stalker)[reply]
@DGG and Primefac: I suppose we're all right, in a way. I tend to say "five" because in #wikipedia-en-help, we tend to say 3-5 sources that are WP:42-worthy proves notability, and "five" would leave room for one or two sources not being reliable, independent, or lacking a significant mention. If there's at least two or three 42-worthy sources, you can always stubbify a draft by removing unverified information before accepting it. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 22:44, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(1)We're confusing several different concepts. A one paragraph stub about a winner of a major prize would need exactly one source. It ought to have more. A one paragraph stub about the winner of a major prize ideally should be expanded with more content and references.
(2) In deciding whether to accept a draft the formal requirement is that it would likely survive in mainspace. Most of us ask for a little more than that, perhaps that it will not be reasonably challenged in mainspace (and that it not be so poorly written or referenced that people question whether it should be deleted). Some reviewers have wanted a higher quality before accepting; I think that's expecting too much of the newcomers.
(3)In advising people what to write, I do not like to give a fixed number, which give the wrong impression about how we make decisions: I think it's better to use qualities, for which the most appropriate word is usually "adequately" --but in a topic where articles are unreasonably questioned, sometime "very adequately". Sometimes the area is so difficult that I will say something like "I think it probably will be accepted, but that does not mean it necessarily will." or even "if Wikipedia ran the way I think it should, this would be accepted, but the way things are, I'm not at all certain--but nobody can accurately predict, so take your chances. " For areas where articles I think we shouldn't have are accepted, I let others judge the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:16, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We all have different styles. But there should be some consistency in standards. Perhaps the best way to express a wording that is not exactly the actual guideline, is (as in my examples above), to use wording like : "I suggest that ..." or "I think... " , or "in my opinion..." DGG ( talk ) 06:29, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac and DGG:, right, that's probably a more honest way to phrase things.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 06:33, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
