Archive box problems
Thanks for adding the box- Now I know how to go about things with it. The only problem is that the archive box does not work in my case because I used a Year/Month format to save it, while the archive box can only retrieve from a numbered archive. Any way you can fix that (maybe take all archives to an archive 1 or something, and deleting the rest of the pages or to make the box so that it auto inputs from year/month archives) so its still working automatic? Thanks a ton! TheOriginalSoni (talk) 06:58, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Your DelSort tool
I noticed on your user page that you have a script that helps with DelSorting. I don't really have experience with it, but I'm a bit bored with what I'm doing now and thought I'd better have one more thing to do to add some variation. - a boat that can float! (watch me float!) 14:52, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I've noticed that it has some problems working lately, according to Gene93k (talk · contribs). Not sure if you have gotten it to work (let me know!), but DelSorting is definitely helpful so that more people in specific subject areas can participate. I've since been doing it manually until a fix has been gotten. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 09:51, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, can't get it to work here either. My guess is that it has something to do with the skin, as I use MonoBook, but it could be anything. - a boat that can float! (watch me float!) 12:10, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, how do you do it manually? - a boat that can float! (watch me float!) 12:20, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well, it's a little bit of legwork, but basically you find an appropriate category or categories under which to sort the discussion. Then, once you find the page, you just add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the list, noting the article name in the edit summary. Then you can add a notification to the discussion itself that it has been included using {{subst:delsort|<topic>|<signature>}}. Many of the those categories have watchers (like myself), and so it's an easy way to broadcast recently nominated articles. A somewhat silly request.
Check me if I am wrong, but you built the Maitre 'd calander, right? Is there any way you can set it to open to the current month? I am sure we need to keep record of who was the Maitre 'd when, but I am thinking most come to that page with the idea of signing up. Just looking for a way to make it easier. Thanks in advance. - Hey Gtw-- no, it wasn't me who built the calendar originally. I think that was the work of SarahStierch (talk · contribs). I'll get in touch with her. your reply to me
Hi, Jethrobot, Nice to know that there are live people behind Wikipedia! Yes, I found the problem with my edits and corrected it by the time you looked at my site. Can you tell me how to include photographs on this site? There are no indications for this, but every other bio has photos.
Thanks, PriscillaAnne (talk) 22:44, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Priscilla. Here's a good guide for uploading photos:
- For uploading pictures and other media, it's easiest to go to Wikimedia Commons (you can use your Wikipedia credentials if you're not logged in already) and visit the Upload Wizard. Wikimedia Commons can only accept files which anyone can use for any purpose. That means most content you find on the web is not acceptable. But for example, most photos that you've taken yourself are OK to upload.
Here's a screenshot of the Upload Wizard:
You start by selecting the files you want to upload, then you go step by step through the process. In the final step, you'll get some wiki markup that you can copy into a Wikipedia article. Let me know if I can help. :-) I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 02:52, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Congrats... You gave an awesome answer in the Teahouse!
It was so refreshing for me, and I'm sure for the Teahouse guest you helped, to include images with your explanation of how to use the citation templates in the editing toolbar. A picture can go such a long way to helping a confused and overwhelmed editor and you provided two great ones right where it was needed. Thanks for doing that!
Also, in case you were wondering, you're receiving a Badge as part of a new experiment centered around 'acknowledgements' in the Teahouse. If you see someone doing something awesome, find the Badge that fits best and share it with them. More details are linked on the Badge itself. Cheers!
Great Answer Badge | |
Awarded to those who have given a great answer on the Teahouse Question Forum. A good answer is one that fits in with the Teahouse expectations of proper conduct: polite, patient, simple, relies on explanations not links, and leaves a talkback notification. |

Hi I Jethrobot,
I found you in the Teahouse. I am not an especially new user, but I have a problem that is new to me. I created an article called Pluralist Generation. It was certainly not a perfect article and I got called out for original research. The editors who flagged the article were correct--I did not have a full understanding of that rule.
Long story short, the article I created was merged with the Generation Z article, with just a very small amount of information about the Pluralist Generation. The problem is that although these two articles are about the same age group, the theory between the two names is different. I have requested on the Generation Z article's Talk page that the two pages be unmerged, but the editor who merged it disagrees. He or she is reasonable and I'm not pointing fingers, I just want to know the protocol of requesting that it be unmerged so that it is not just one person deciding the fate of this information. Do I post the issue on a noticeboard? Thanks, HtownCat (talk) 01:35, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Htown-- this is an excellent question and one difficult to find an answer to on one's own (I myself had to ask around). I've looked over your situation a bit -- talk pages, the previous article, etc. -- and there are a couple of options you have at your disposal:
- Request a Third opinion, but that's only if there are only two of you involved in the dispute.
- Be bold and merge it back, adding in substantive content that separates the concept from Generation Z.
- Open a Request for comments on unmerging the materials.
- If you cannot move it to its own article, and because it seems like the topics are related, you might consider merging more of the relevant content from the old page for Pluralist Generation into Generation Z, perhaps under its own header, as it has received significant coverage.
- I hope these options are helpful, and let me know if you have any other questions. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 09:03, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your help. I will give consider these options before deciding which way to go. Very helpful suggestions. HtownCat (talk) 17:39, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Copying uploaded photos from Wiki Commons to my article I am working on
Hi, Jethrobot, I am really confused about this. I printed out the photo uploading page, but can't find any way to put them on the article page. Wiki only printed half of the text, so I don't know if the rest is missing or not. Here is the link in HTML, which is complete, and may help you find my photo file: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Priscilla_McLean_Photo.jpg
There are three photos in all, but I will only give you one to figure out.
Thanks, PriscillaAnne (talk) 22:07, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

I would like your help creating this page about TuneGenie:
My links are not promotional
They are not promotional, if so then you should delete the whole article KINK and any other radio station article as "promotional", and who are you to falsly claim that they are promotional ? What is the point of editing articles if some Jackboot thug comes by and deletes it ? REFJR NC (talk) 2:34 am, Today (UTC−5) also, I do not appriciate your threats, when I am making an effort to edit wikipedia articles and in return I get Jackbooted threats
- Again, I'm deleting them because it's spam. Facebook pages are not allowed per WP:FACEBOOK and countless links to the streaming website are not needed, mostly because there was already a website pointing to the radio's livestream anyway. You're suffering from a major case of "I didn't hear that" and also engaging in some pointy reasoning above, and you're likely to get blocked for it. Hello, I have this in my Notifications:
- Today
- I Jethrobot thanked you for your edit on User:Miss Bono.

but it didn't show anything. What happens? Miss Bono (zootalk) 19:54, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, that was actually an accident-- sorry! I was looking at the page history for your userpage, and I noticed there was this "Thank" option that I hadn't seen before (I was off Wikipedia for about 6 months prior to May). So, I clicked it, and now you have a notification. It must have been a new function put into Wikipedia while I was away. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 20:00, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
LOL!! So that's what "Thank" option does... I did the same with User:Cullen328 a few hours ago... LOL... So were you looking at my history?? Mmmm, interesting LOL.... Miss Bono (zootalk) 20:03, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Thank was added yesterday (May 30, 2013) and there is the start of a userscript that was requested to get rid of the (thank) that currently only works on diff pages as no-one has requested me to add other pages to it. If you're interested instructions are at WP:Notifications/Thanks#How to turn off this feature Technical 13 (talk) 20:10, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Link to other languages
Jethrobot, wanted to thank you for your work. Is there a way I can do this for other articles? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AvoBoro (talk • contribs) 20:26, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- You're very welcome! I think you're doing everything right in terms of adding links to other-language Wikipedia articles. If you run into that same error again, you can click and see where the duplicate entry is and remove it if it's not appropriate like I did in your request. Let me know if you run into trouble again, and I can check it out. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 20:29, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello
Thanks for coming by and being enthusiastic. Among the things I am looking for help with are responding regularly to issues at WT:CHICAGO and WP:CHIAA. We are especially in need of respondents at Wikipedia_talk:CHICAGO#Going_forward. Would you care to drop by and help us make some decisions?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:06, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I can check them out later today. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 15:27, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- It would be more helpful if you would take a look at the itemized lists in the subsection below.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:11, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I see you did comment on some of them individually now. More would be helpful though.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:15, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I will, when I have a moment. Honestly it is somewhat difficult to have a definite opinion about some of these cases. It really comes down to how we want to define "museum," for the purposes of the template, and I don't think that's really getting talked about much directly. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 16:03, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'l also add that the rationale for including many of these institutions is fairly self-evident, so I'm not planning on commenting on each one. I would like to help begin to build some articles on institutions under the Chicago Cultural Alliance thread that was brought up, so I'll put that on my to-do list. Dog Camp
Hi Jethrobot - Thanks for your reply. What type of information do you require? Let me know and I will try and provide this to you. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RyanKowarsky (talk • contribs) 18:37, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, it could be a lot of things, but for instance, a news or magazine article, a book, a historical document, or some other evidence. The important thing is that it's not simply the website of the dog camp itself, because sources need to be independent of the subject they are discussing. We can't accept a claim from the camp itself that it was the first Canadian dog camp. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 19:41, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Knights
That quotation in the chivalry section is from a children's book (Magic Tree House, to be specific) Is that appropriate for a Wikipedia source?WQUlrich (talk) 20:27, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- In my opinion, a children's book is not an appropriate source for a discussion of chivalry among knights, but if you need another opinion, I'd recommend bringing this to the article talk page. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 20:32, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Good idea...that is the lead sentence and needs to replaced if it's deleted. In the meantime, I'll fill in the reference so people know what they're dealing with.WQUlrich (talk) 20:37, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Linking Articles
Hey, could you tell me how to link my wiki article with other articles? I tried to use the usual double square brackets but it isnt happening. Please help. Devanshi1208 (talk) 06:00, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- It might not be working if you are using the Visual Editor. The double square brackets will work if you choose "edit source" at the top of the page instead of just "edit this page." I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 04:25, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Hey i tried doing what you told me, it's still not happening, can you please check the article Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu and help me out with this. Thanks. Devanshi1208 (talk) 06:33, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- For some reason, there were <nowiki> tags included in the article, which made it so that wiki mark-up like brackets wouldn't work. I've removed them. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 06:36, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you so much
Do let me know if you have any suggestions to help me improve the article, im still working on it though. Devanshi1208 (talk) 06:48, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
